Chapter 73 The Commune is Coming

After Xu Jianguo left the brigade headquarters, he took Funiu directly home.

Looking at the time, it was still a bit early to cook, so Xu Jianguo asked Funiu to stay at home and play with Xiaohei while he went to the mountains.

With the help of Xu Jianguo's Wangzai milk and snow rice cakes, Funiu sensibly agreed.

After leaving the yard, Xu Jianguo came to a forest not far from his home. He looked around and saw no paths or anything. He thought that usually no one would come here.

Xu Jianguo flashed into the space, first came to the pigpen, and went straight to the pregnant sows.

When he stood by the wall and took a look, an expression of surprise immediately appeared on his face. The seven pregnant sows had given birth to a total of 68 piglets.

The piglets were white and plump, very cute. Xu Jianguo was worried that the sow was not getting enough nutrition, so he put a lot of corn kernels and well water in the trough.

After looking at the other seven sows, all of which had piglets, Xu Jianguo worked for a while, dividing up single rooms for them, and then raised the six boars separately.

The chicken, duck and goose family has a strong reproductive ability. The cages are full of eggs, and groups of big ducks are swimming around with their ducklings in the fish pond. Xu Jianguo adjusted the flow of time here to normal speed, and with a thought, he collected all the unfertilized eggs, which amounted to two or three hundred eggs.

The sheep also had their own lambs, seven in total.

Now there are only seven cows on the farm that have not given birth yet, but these cows are already pregnant, so it seems that new life will come into the world soon.

After bringing some well water to irrigate the pasture and looking at the vegetables he had planted before, Xu Jianguo nodded with satisfaction. After adjusting the time flow rate of the planting area to normal, he turned and walked into the supermarket.

After passing through the supermarket, Xu Jianguo came to the utility room, took a pickaxe and a shovel, and left the space.

He used these tools to dig a one-cubic-meter deep pit in the open space, then spread pig manure and straw in the space layer by layer, and finally poured well water into the space.

The purpose of Xu Jianguo doing this was to conduct a personal test for the villagers to see. He guessed that people from the commune might come tomorrow, and with this sample, it wouldn't give people the impression that he was just talking without doing anything.

After finishing everything, he found some branches nearby and weaved a lid to cover the mouth of the pit. Then he put away his tools and walked towards home.

In the evening, Xu Jianguo made a dish of scrambled eggs with tomatoes and a plate of braised pork ribs, and the staple food was rice.

After dinner, Xu Jianguo cleaned the kang table, heated a cup of milk for the little girl, and then took out a comic book and handed it to her.

But unexpectedly, after Funiu took the book, she looked at it for a few seconds and then returned it to Xu Jianguo.

"Funiu, what's wrong?" Xu Jianguo asked.

"Haha, can you tell me the story above?" Funiu looked at Xu Jianguo pitifully and said.

"Haha, of course you can. Just sit down, drink your milk and listen to your brother tell you a story." Xu Jianguo said with a smile.

"Yeah!" Funiu nodded vigorously, looking at Xu Jianguo with her big eyes without blinking.

"The name of the story we are telling today is 'Railway Guerrillas'..."

Xu Jianguo narrated the contents of the comic strip with great emotion. The plot was full of ups and downs. When the little girl heard the tense parts, her two little hands would unconsciously clasp together.

When the story was finished, Funiu seemed to be still immersed in it, and she didn't react until Xu Jianguo called her.

"Haha, your story is so interesting. I want to listen to it again tomorrow." Funiu hugged Xu Jianguo's neck and said coquettishly.

"Okay, I'll tell you tomorrow!" Xu Jianguo said with a smile.

Xu Jianguo took some hot water from the space to wash Funiu's face, then wiped her body, and finally washed her little feet before putting the little girl on the kang.

After Xu Jianguo finished washing and returned to the house, he found that Funiu had fallen asleep. Looking at the little girl's smiling expression, Xu Jianguo's heart was full of a sense of accomplishment and an understanding of family affection. He cherished the time with Funiu. Sometimes he even thought that if this girl disappeared one day, he felt that he would go crazy.

Throwing away the random thoughts in his mind, Xu Jianguo glanced at Funiu beside him and fell into a deep sleep.

The next morning, Xu Jianguo woke up early. He first went to the mountain to look at the fertilizer he had fermented yesterday, stirred it with a long branch, then covered it and went home.

After entering the yard, Xu Jianguo slipped into the space. Sure enough, the seven cows had given birth, and the calves were following their mothers, walking leisurely.

Funiu was awakened by the aroma of delicious food. She rubbed her eyes and found that no one was in the room, so she shouted, "Haha, I'm up!"

"I'm coming!" As soon as the words fell, Xu Jianguo walked in from outside the door.

"Haha, good morning. What delicious food did you make? It smells so good. I'm starving!"

"Haha, let me take you to wash your face and brush your teeth. This morning we have all your favorite foods."

"Okay!" When the little girl heard this, she jumped up from the mattress and stretched out her little arms, asking Xu Jianguo to hold her.

Xu Jianguo was helpless with this foodie sister, so he had to pick her up and start dressing her, then took her to wash her face and brush her teeth.

Today's breakfast is still rich, with beef and green onion pie, shrimp and steamed egg cake, cold kelp shreds, and a bowl of white porridge for each person.

The brother and sister devoured the breakfast on the table in no time.

After taking care of his personal hygiene, Xu Jianguo carried Funiu and walked towards the brigade headquarters.

When he arrived at the brigade headquarters, Xu Jianguo found that Li Mancang was not there. After asking, he learned that he had gone to the commune early in the morning.

After getting the farm tools, the brother and sister walked towards the mountain facing the rising sun.

Still taking out the small stool, honey water and comic books, and after settling Funiu down, Xu Jianguo began to weed the wheat field. He glanced at the field he had watered with space well water yesterday from a distance. The gratifying growth gave him a headache, and he didn't know how to explain it.

It was ten o'clock in the morning. Xu Jianguo had just cleared the weeds in the field when a voice came from the foot of the mountain.

"Build a nation, build a nation!"

Xu Jianguo looked in the direction of the voice and saw that it was Li Xiangdong, a militiaman from the village. He quickly walked over to him and said, "Brother Dongzi, what's going on?"

"The captain and his team have returned from the commune and asked me to come and call you. They said people from the commune and the county agricultural bureau will be coming over soon."

"Okay, you go ahead and I'll go to the brigade headquarters after I finish packing."

"Okay, hurry up!" Li Xiangdong agreed, touched Funniu's little head, and then walked down the mountain.

Xu Jianguo packed his things into a backpack, then picked up the hoe and led Funiu towards the brigade headquarters at the foot of the mountain.
