Xu Jianguo returned the washed lunch box and chopsticks to Cong Kai, said hello to him, and then left the cafeteria with Funiu and Wen Sitian.
On the way, Wen Sitian noticed that Xu Jianguo was not heading towards the dormitory. She felt a little strange and asked, "Jianguo, where are we going?"
Xu Jianguo said, "Aren't you feeling unwell? Don't go back to the dormitory tonight. Let's go to your house and I'll treat you."
"Ah? Oh!" Wen Sitian exclaimed in surprise when she heard Xu Jianguo say that he would not go back to the dormitory. Then, as if she thought of something, she blushed and agreed in a low voice.
The three of them left the Red Star Machinery Factory and headed towards Wen Sitian's home.
When they arrived at the gate of the yard, Wen Sitian walked up, took out the key to open the door, and then led Xu Jianguo and Funiu in.
After entering the house, Wen Sitian pulled the light cord by the door, and the dim light came on. Looking at the egg-sized light bulb above his head, Xu Jianguo shook his head and thought that when the time is right, he must take out the energy-saving light bulbs in the space supermarket and replace them.
He asked Wen Sitian to look after Funniu while Xu Jianguo went to get a basin of clean water and cleaned the house inside and out. Then he went to the kitchen and took some well water from the space and put it in the kettle to boil while Wen Sitian was not paying attention. Then he said hello to the two beauties and went out.
When he came out of the yard, Xu Jianguo took out a bag of dates and two bags of brown sugar from the space while no one was around, opened the packaging, put the dates in a cloth bag, and put the brown sugar in the lunch box. He strolled outside for half an hour before returning to the yard.
Xu Jianguo originally wanted to give Wen Sitian a few packs of sanitary napkins and toilet paper, but then he thought it was inappropriate to give these gifts given their current relationship. Besides, this girl was shy and if he wasn't careful, it would leave a bad impression on others.
Wen Sitian saw Xu Jianguo coming back and asked, "Where have you been so late at night?"
Xu Jianguo smiled and said, "I went to the black market and bought you something!"
"Black...black market? Do you want to live?" Wen Sitian said, and then she was worried, so she hurried to the gate of the courtyard, opened the door and looked outside.
Xu Jianguo looked at Wen Sitian's panic and felt a little funny and warm, so he said, "It's okay, I covered my face when I went there."
Wen Sitian wanted to say something, but she didn't expect Xu Jianguo to directly pull her hand and walk into the house. This made her swallow back what she wanted to say with a blushing face.
After pushing Wen Sitian to sit on the chair, Xu Jianguo put the cloth bag and lunch box on the table, then went to the kitchen to get an empty bowl and brought back the kettle of hot water.
He grabbed a few red dates from the cloth bag, broke them into pieces and put them into the bowl, then took out a piece of brown sugar from the lunch box and put it in, then poured hot water into the bowl. The aroma of the dates and brown sugar was stimulated by the hot water and immediately filled the entire room.
Funiu, who was playing nearby, ran over, stood on tiptoe to look at the steaming bowl on the table, and sniffed her nose from time to time. Her cute appearance made Xu Jianguo laugh.
Wen Sitian picked up Funiu. The little girl stared at the dark red liquid in the bowl and the dates floating on the water. She said, "Haha, what is this? Can I drink it?"
"This is red dates and brown sugar water. Your sweet sister has a stomachache. Drink this and the pain will go away. If you want to drink it, I'll make you another bowl." Xu Jianguo said with a smile.
"Okay, okay, I want to drink!" Funiu said, clapping her hands.
Xu Jianguo had no choice but to get another empty bowl and make a bowl of red dates and brown sugar water for the little girl.
Looking at Xu Jianguo's busy figure and then at the brown sugar water on the table, Wen Sitian's eyes became a little red. This man was the best person to her in the world except for her mother and uncle.
She remembered her stepmother's beatings and abuses, her biological father's indifference, and her aunt's harshness. She also thought of her mother and uncle who had left her, and tears flowed unconsciously.
"Sister Tian, why are you crying? Are you unhappy because I snatched your brown sugar water? I don't want to drink it anymore, please stop crying, okay?" Funiu noticed that Wen Sitian was crying, and asked quickly, stretching out her little hand to wipe the tears from her face.
Xu Jianguo also came over and asked, "What's wrong with you? Is your stomach hurting again?"
Seeing the nervous expressions of the brother and sister, Wen Sitian felt warm in her heart again. She smiled through her tears and said, "No, it's just that you two are so kind to me. I'm touched!"
Xu Jianguo didn't say anything. He understood what Wen Sitian was thinking and knew about the grievances and injuries she had suffered in the past. He could only slowly fade away these bad memories. After all, time is the best medicine.
Wen Sitian touched Funniu's little head and whispered something in her ear. The little girl, who was originally a little nervous, suddenly smiled again.
After the brown sugar water had been left for a while, it was at just the right temperature. Xu Jianguo picked up a bowl and handed it to Wen Sitian, then picked up Funiu and put her on a chair. He then put the spoon he had taken from the kitchen in the little girl's hand and let her drink the brown sugar water by herself.
After drinking a bowl of red dates and brown sugar water, Wen Sitian immediately felt her lower abdomen become warm. The original cold and painful feeling disappeared, and she couldn't help but feel it was magical.
Seeing Wen Sitian's face turn rosy, Xu Jianguo knew that the space well water had taken effect. He smiled and said, "Make another bowl when you get up tomorrow morning. It shouldn't happen again."
"Oh, okay!" Wen Sitian agreed with a blushing face.
Xu Jianguo didn't continue the conversation and said, "By the way, I want to discuss something with you! The village will be quite busy recently. Tomorrow we have to fertilize the crops for autumn planting, and the day after tomorrow the commune will organize a hunting trip for the villagers in the mountains. This trip will probably take quite a while, and I can't take Funiu with me, so I'd like you to help me take care of her for a while. I'll pick her up when we get back from hunting."
