The AWM sniper rifle is 1,180 mm long and has a barrel length of 660 mm. It can use 7.62 mm bullets as its main ammunition. If the increase in power and shooting distance is taken into consideration, Xu Jianguo's idea is to use a replaceable barrel to be compatible with larger caliber bullets.
However, if the anti-material purpose is not considered and it is only used for sniping personnel, the 7.62mm caliber bullet is sufficient. It only needs to be slightly improved and made into a special sniper rifle bullet so that it can be directly used in actual combat.
Originally, Xu Jianguo wanted to imitate the Sulian SVD sniper rifle. However, according to the firearms theory he currently understands, the Sulian SVD is not a true sniper rifle. The design concept of the AWM sniper rifle is completely in line with the theory of sniper rifles. Its accuracy, power and even distance are better than the SVD. Moreover, its structure is simple and it is more durable than the SVD.
