Chapter 18 Decided to go see Chen Xianghong

As soon as Old Lady Xia and her group stepped into the courtyard, Old Lady Yin came to greet them.

"Yue'e, I just saw your package at the post office. It's quite large. Did that kid Xiang Hong send something again? Go get it quickly."

Old Mrs. Xia thanked him, put the child in Chen Xiangnan's arms, and left without looking back.

Old Chen stood at the window, looking unhappy. This damned old woman didn't even cook or wash clothes, and even after seeing him, she just left without a word. His face still hurt. The safflower oil he applied last night did reduce the swelling, but his dignity was completely gone.

Old Lady Yin took Hu Jie's daughter, Hu Yingying, out for a walk. Hu Jie had gone out to drive his car again and had left the child at her house. As an old lady with nothing to do, she was just the right person to keep Hu Yingying company.

Speaking of Hu Yingying, she was such a poor child. Her mother died during childbirth, leaving only Hu Jie and her. Hu Jie had been unable to take care of the child due to work, so he left her at his grandparents' house.

Unfortunately, children without parents were always bullied. When Hu Jie returned to see her in his sports car, he was covered in dirt and injuries. He lost his temper and took the child back, entrusting him to the care of Old Lady Yin. Every time he returned from a trip, he would bring her some rare goods and give her money.

Old Lady Yin was kind and would never bully a child, so she raised Hu Yingying with her grandchildren and shared all the delicious food with her fairly. Hu Yingying became very friendly to Old Lady Yin.

No one else in their compound would bully the children. Besides, Hu Jie always brought them delicious food when he came back. Their children loved Hu Yingying very much and would not let the children outside bully them.

Hu Yingying had a hard time living with her grandparents, so she developed an introverted and quiet personality, but she was a very kind child.

When she saw Chen Lingling with gauze wrapped around her head, she would run over to show concern and take out the candy in her pocket to share with her.

Hu Yingying felt embarrassed to give only one candy to her, so she took out all the candies and distributed them to every adult and child present, leaving her with one candy. Hu Yingying was very good at counting.

Unfortunately, when it was the last person's turn, Old Chen, who was in the house, suddenly came out to smoke.

Hu Yingying was in a dilemma. This candy was delicious, but she only had a little left, and this was the last one.

Old Chen didn't look at them. He tapped the old pipe in his hand and started smoking with a sullen face.

Seeing that Old Chen was unhappy, Hu Yingying thought about it again and again, looked at the small candy in her palm, and finally couldn't bear it and ran to Old Chen, looked up and pulled the corner of his clothes, and handed him the candy in her hand.

Old Chen looked down at the child, his big grape-like eyes staring straight at him, his fair face round and plump, his mouth moved, as if he was a little greedy.

How could he possibly fight with a child for candy? Old Chen reached out and pushed Hu Yingying's small hand, "Grandpa doesn't like it, you eat it yourself."

Hu Yingying didn't believe it. How could anyone not like something as delicious as candy? Grandma Yin's little grandson begged her for candy every day. Grandpa Chen must be lying.

She grabbed Old Chen's hand, put the candy in his palm, and then shyly ran to Old Lady Yin.

The candy still carried Hu Yingying's warmth, having melted somewhat in the hot weather. Old Chen's thoughts drifted away, remembering how he'd bought candy for his children when they were little. The eldest and second child had fought over a few candies, and the third child, who couldn't eat much, had to secretly slip a candy into Xiang Hong's palm and eagerly let him eat it.

Xiang Hong has been filial since childhood.

He saw Old Lady Xia coming in carrying a package for her eldest son. Xiang Hong always cared about the old couple.

Later, he seemed to give the candy to his son and asked them to stop fighting.

Old Chen's eyes felt a little sore, and he carefully put the small piece of candy into his pocket.

"Aunt Xia, why is there such a big package?"

"It must have been sent from Xiang Hong."

"That's great! Unlike my son, who hasn't been heard from since he went to the countryside. He only sends letters asking for money and tickets."

"Oh, please stop talking like that. The children are suffering in the countryside, and you're still thinking about his little things?"

"Yes, people are getting too skinny."

"I'm not just complaining casually. I don't really want anything from him."

"Our family is different from some people who specialize in sucking the blood of their daughters."

"How could Xiang Hong, a girl, get so many things?"

"Are you in a relationship with someone?"

The once harmonious compound was filled with envy at the sight of this large package. Old Lady Xia had been used to it before, letting them say whatever they wanted. But after her rebirth, she knew Xiang Hong's fate in advance, and seeing these things brought tears to her eyes.

When she heard the rumors spread by that bad-mouthed person, Old Lady Xia felt a surge of anger in her heart.

"You guys are just getting along with someone, but you don't have any real abilities and you're just gossiping about other people. I haven't even seen you eat less of the dates my Xiang Hong sent you."

Old Mrs. Xia turned around and walked back home. Seeing Old Chen smoking outside, she kicked him and said, "All you do is smoke. All you do is smoke. You don't care about Xiang Hong being gossiped about behind her back. How could she have a father like you?"

Chen Xiangnan had just coaxed his daughter to sleep and pulled Dong Chunmiao out of the room when Old Mrs. Xia came in.

Old Mrs. Xia no longer likes anyone. After carefully placing the package on the table, she scolded Chen Xiangnan for being heartless.

"You stare at these things all day long. Your sister is suffering in the countryside, and I don't think you care at all."

It was discovered that Boss Chen and his family were still sleeping even when the sun was shining on them, and they were banging on the door and shouting and cursing outside.

Everyone in the family, except the children, was scolded. They sat on the stools with their heads lowered, not daring to meet Old Lady Xia's eyes.
