Chapter 30: Want to Return to the City

"Mom..." Aunt Li Wu's other two sons went from being scared just now to being panicked. After their father went to the captain's office, the captain had been here for such a long time, but his father was nowhere to be seen. No one knew where he had gone.

Now that his biological mother is about to be taken away, he is finally getting anxious.

"Brother, I'm going to find Dad. Please ask them to take Mom away later." Aunt Li Wu's second son shouted.

Aunt Li Wu's eldest son didn't want to stay here and have anything to do with the police, so he immediately pulled the man back and said, "Brother, I know where Dad is. I'll go, you stay here."

The two of them fought back and forth, and finally ran away.

The villagers laughed at them. What good was being tall and strong? When things got tough, they just cowered. Two grown men ran away, so afraid of the police that even their own mother abandoned them. Aunt Li Wu had truly failed. And yet, she still talked about her three sons every day.

They looked down on this one and that one, and finally they were caught, two cowards.

Uncle Li Wu, who gave birth to a son like this, was probably not a good person. He looked honest on the outside, but when something really happened, he wouldn't even show his face, let alone help.

The police don't know, but they do know. Uncle Li went to the captain's office early this morning to ask for help. The captain has been there for so long now. Uncle Li probably ran away halfway when he heard that the police were coming.

A family of losers.

After they watched the three people being taken away, there was nothing more fun to watch, so they were sent to the fields by the team leader.

The captain was upset.

Although Old Lady Xia understood the captain's expression, he still needed to issue Chen Xianghong's certificate, so she blocked the captain's way.

"Captain, I plan to take Xiang Hong to the city to see a doctor. You see how thin she is. I'm afraid she's in poor health." Old Lady Xia smiled politely, "Look, this proves..."

At this moment, the team leader felt that their entire village had lost all face, and this was all caused by the old lady in front of him.

If she hadn't made a scene, it wouldn't have gotten to this point. She even called the police. How could he let such a capable person get what she wanted?

The captain frowned: "Yeah."

Old Mrs. Xia was confused. What did this mean? Whether she agreed to give the certificate or not, her daughter Xiang Hong still had to go for an interview.

She didn't dare to reveal her real purpose, for fear that someone with ulterior motives might hear it and ruin things. She was also afraid that the captain would be vengeful and wouldn't let Xiang Hong leave, which would be troublesome.

This captain looks like a narrow-minded person.

The captain was about to step around her when Old Lady Xia grabbed his wrist and said, "Captain, when can I get this certificate?"

The team leader said unhappily, "We're busy working in the fields, how can we just let people go? We have a hospital in town. If there's any problem, go to the town hospital first."

This woman was really annoying, but with this excuse, not issuing a certificate made it seem like he didn't care about human life. What if this educated youth Chen really was ill... He looked at Chen Xianghong. If something happened, he would definitely bear greater responsibility, and he might even be accused of taking human life lightly.

But he felt that although Chen Xianghong, the female educated youth, was thin, she worked efficiently and did not seem to have any problems.

Old Mrs. Xia choked up. "The hospital in town is no match for the ones in big cities. The equipment there is so advanced. I only have this one daughter. If something really happens to her, I don't want to live anymore."

Chen Xianghong was shocked: Her mother loves her so much?

The team leader said: "There are so many educated youth in our team. If we issue this certificate to Chen today, all the other educated youth will come to get certificates tomorrow. Who will bear the responsibility?"

"I've already come to the countryside to work, yet I still have unrealistic thoughts of returning to the city every day. If a few of them run away, how will I explain it to the higher-ups?"

"Do you think going to the countryside is a joke? Can you just ask for leave and go back? What do you take this for?"

The captain lost his temper and left in a huff.

Old Lady Xia murmured, "Did I... offend your captain?"

Chen Xianghong had a bitter face. It was really too difficult to return to the city.

Chen Xiangnan was secretly delighted. "Mom, there's nothing we can do if the captain is not a good person. Let's give my little sister some more money and go back first."

If Chen Xianghong didn't go back, she wouldn't compete with him for Old Lady Xia's job. Although there was a salesperson job, if he didn't get it, his mother would definitely give it to her after seeing how hard Chen Xianghong's life was.

What can he do then?

Although he felt sorry for Chen Xianghong, after all, she was his sister, but compared with his own interests, and considering the difficulty of returning to the city, he felt that it would be better for Chen Xianghong not to go back.

Chen Xiangnan received a big eye roll from Old Lady Xia. "Hurry up and think of a solution. If your sister can't come back this time, I will kick you out of my house."

Chen Xiangnan: What? Why is it him again?

He looked worried. If he was kicked out, he wouldn't be able to survive.

Several people walked towards the guesthouse dejectedly. It was indeed not easy to return to the city this time.

Chen Xianghong forced a smile and comforted them, "Mom, second brother, it's okay. I don't have to go back. I'm used to it here anyway. I can get full work points every day and can support myself."

"Sometimes when the village gets some meat from hunting, I can dry it into jerky and send it to you. You can still eat wild game in the city. It's a good idea to think about it that way."

"Don't worry too much, I'm fine."

She tried hard to smile. She was a sensible person and didn't want to make her family worry.

These words, not to mention Old Lady Xia, even Chen Xiangnan felt sad. He had just thought it was better for her not to return to the city, and was afraid that she would compete with him for the job.

His sister's heart and eyes are full of their family, but he still thinks like this. He is such a bad person.

Chen Xiangnan suddenly felt guilty.

All the way, he kept his head down, blaming himself while thinking of a solution.

When he reached the door of the guesthouse, an idea suddenly occurred to him. "Mom, do you remember the girl on the train? She seemed to say that the captain was her relative. Maybe it can be helpful?"

Old Lady Xia's eyes lit up. "Yes, I've forgotten about this girl. After all, I saved her. What if she can still have a say?"

"Not bad, Second Brother." Old Lady Xia patted him appreciatively. Second Brother was smart and good-looking, no wonder he attracted so many girls. It was just that his character was a little too bad.

Old Mrs. Xia sighed with both admiration and regret, leaving Chen Xiangnan confused.

He could use sweet words to make women happy, no matter if they were old or young, including his mother. But ever since his mother was driven crazy by his eldest sister-in-law, the troublemaker, he could no longer coax her. His mother's thoughts were now very strange, and they were not normal no matter how you looked at them.
