Chapter 91 Old Chen is in the Hospital

In the hospital, Old Chen was lying on the hospital bed. Fortunately, there was nothing serious wrong with his coccyx, just a soft tissue contusion, but he still needed to rest in bed for a week.

After hearing the results, Chen Xiangnan handed him over to the useless Chen Xiangbei and ran away. He had to hurry to catch a bus, otherwise he wouldn't be able to return at night. He didn't have a letter of introduction and couldn't stay in a guesthouse. If he ended up sleeping on the streets, he would suffer a lot.

This action made Old Chen scold him as an ungrateful person, and he held Chen Xiangbei's hand and praised him as a good boy.

As a result, Chen Xiangbei scratched his head and said that he would leave later because he had an appointment with friends to go out and play. He had broken the appointment when he saved his second sister last time, and he couldn't break it again this time.

Old Chen lay alone in the cold ward, feeling that he might as well die alone, as none of his children cared about him.

After work, Old Mrs. Xia went to the hospital. Chen Xianghong thought that her father had no food to eat in the hospital, so she went to check on him. She found that there was no one in the ward, so she had to stay there with Chen Lingling to prevent him from getting hurt.

When Old Lady Xia arrived, Old Chen was telling his wife Xiang Hong how excessive her brothers were and how they were all unfilial. When he saw Old Lady Xia come in, he snorted and turned his head to the side, ignoring her.

"I went to the factory cafeteria and paid the chef to make you a portion of braised pork. Do you want to eat it?" Old Mrs. Xia took out the aluminum lunch box. The meat was still hot and smelled delicious when paired with rice.

Old Chen immediately stopped being angry. He hadn't eaten anything in the morning and only had the vegetarian noodles his daughter brought him at noon. There was no oil or water in his stomach.

He took the meal and they all ate it with a portion of braised pork.

"The eldest brother was so heartless that he hid away faster than anyone else when he saw me injured. The second brother was so heartless that he rushed me to the hospital and then disappeared without a trace. The third brother was even more heartless. He went out to play and just left me in the hospital. Why is my life so miserable?"

Chen Xianghong heard this sentence no less than ten times in one afternoon. Even Chen Lingling felt like her ears were covered with calluses. "Grandpa, please stop. I'm tired of hearing it."

Old Chen pointed at her and said to Old Lady Xia, "Look, there's a little ungrateful person here."

Old Mrs. Xia did not comment.

He continued to talk a lot of nonsense, and finally concluded: "If it weren't for Xiang Hong, I might have starved to death in the hospital."

Old Lady Xia: "Daughters are always more caring than sons."

Old Chen used to oppose this. He believed that a daughter would belong to someone else sooner or later, but a son would remain his own. Therefore, he did not care much about his daughter. In the end, she would just be given a dowry to someone else's family, and his family's affairs would have nothing to do with her.

But now, he found that he was sick, and the person who cared about him the most was actually his daughter. His expression began to become complicated. He didn't want to admit that he was wrong before, but he didn't dare to hurt his daughter's feelings, for fear that when he got old, no one would really care about him.

If he said this, Old Lady Xia would definitely agree with his idea. Her daughter died in her previous life. Wasn't it because her three sons were so heartless that they took her money and ignored her, and finally died?

Old Mrs. Xia was immersed in her own thoughts. She noticed that the second son's attitude towards her had changed recently, but she didn't think he had become a better person. How could a person who had been selfish all his life change his temperament inexplicably?

The same thing happened with Old Chen, that damned old man. Don't think he's afraid to order her around now; it's because he's found he can't do it anymore. If she were still the same as before, Old Chen would definitely be the same as in his previous life. If it weren't for him obediently handing over his meager salary, she wouldn't want to bother with him.

Her transformation changed everyone's attitude towards her, except for Chen Xianghong, who had been away from them for several years and still didn't understand the situation. She also learned to do housework like she did before.

She can ignore her son, and the old man can ignore it, but she must change her daughter's behavior.

The only person she felt sorry for in her previous life was her. In this life, she had done nothing else except bringing her here. She had to tell her that the most important thing for a woman is to stand on her own feet and not be threatened by anyone.

She wanted to let her know that she must always have money in her hands. Only with money can she have confidence. Even if she was kicked out, there are ways to make herself live well.

So, she didn't want her to go to Haishi at first. With her personality, if she didn't change, if she found a partner in Haishi, she would still be controlled by him, just like she was in her previous life.

However, she asked a lot of people at the factory to help find a job, but to no avail. As for her own job, she didn't want to give it up unless it was absolutely necessary. After all, this job was one of her strengths. If she lost it, if that stubborn old man, Old Chen, threatened to divorce her and asked her to get out, she would not only be a source of strength for her daughter, but even she would be worried.

That's why she agreed to let Chen Xianghong go to Hai City for a year or two to sort out the issue of going to the countryside first, and then let her come back after she had a more clear job here.

She asked Chen Xianghong to promise not to find a partner for the next one or two years, and she would only feel at ease if she kept her under her supervision.

"Why are you ignoring me?" Old Chen said a lot of things, but his wife said nothing. I don't know what she was thinking. Just because he was injured now, could she ignore him?

This group of people is really hateful. They are more active than anyone else when asking for money, and their faces are more gloomy than anyone else when he needs care. They are not good people.

Old Lady Xia came to her senses. "I brought you some meat, didn't I? What else do you want from me? You've been repeating the same few words over and over again all afternoon, and you don't even feel tired. Look at yourself. You've lived a glorious life for most of your life, but when you were sick, who else was there to worry about you besides Xiang Hong and me?"

Old Chen: "So, I also think they have no conscience."

Old Lady Xia brainwashed him, "So your salary is most suitable for me. Xiang Hong staying here is also the most important thing. She is a filial child. Why don't you help her pay attention to her work and stop worrying about your ungrateful sons and brothers."

Old Chen retorted, "Xiang Hong is going to work in Hai City, so why should I care?"

Old Lady Xia scolded her, "Calling you stupid is a compliment. If Xiang Hong gets bullied in Hai City, can you still take leave frequently to rush over and teach her a lesson? She's suffered so much in the countryside for so many years, and you don't care about her at all. She's been back for so long, have you done anything for her? This child should stay here, I'm worried."

"On the contrary, you kept pleading for your sons and brothers, and then you spoke well of them. You worried so much about them, and finally they ended up in the hospital. Look, I don't care about you. You just can't figure it out!"

Old Chen had no way of refutation after hearing this, but how did this old woman know that Xiang Hong was different from those ungrateful people? He couldn't ask since the person was right here.

On the contrary, when Chen Xianghong heard what her mother said, she was so moved that her eyes became slightly moist. Her mother was thinking about her.
