Chapter 91 Thanks to You
Xu Yao and Xue Han walked one after the other in the night. The air was filled with the fragrance of earth, mixed with a hint of coolness.
Xu Yao looked up at the moon in the sky, feeling uneasy.
She always felt that something bad was about to happen...
"Yaoyao, wait for me!" Xue Han's voice came from behind. Xu Yao stopped and looked back at him.
"Be careful!" Before Xu Yao could react, Xue Han suddenly threw her to the ground.
"Bang!" A loud noise broke the night sky.
Both of them were stunned. Xu Yao felt a pain in her back, but was more moved by Xue Han's reaction.
"Are you okay?" Xue Han asked with concern, his voice full of worry.
"I'm fine, thanks to you." Xu Yao brushed the dust off her body and looked at him, feeling warm in her heart.
"Be more careful next time. This place is not safe at night." Xue Han stood up and reached out to help Xu Yao brush the dust off her clothes.
Xu Yao nodded, and the two continued on their way.
When they arrived in the town, Xu Yao was sitting in a small teahouse and Xiaofang walked in quietly.
"Sister Yao, we've investigated the matter clearly. Third sister did bribe the people in the purchasing channel and planned to let us import a batch of inferior goods." Xiaofang lowered her voice with a serious expression.
Xu Yao nodded, "I understand. Let's turn the tables and let this sinister guy suffer the consequences."
"What's the plan?" Xiaofang asked, with a hint of curiosity in her eyes.
"We pretend that we don't know and receive the goods normally. At the same time, I will notify Xue Han and Uncle Zhang and ask them to be prepared." Xu Yao said slowly, with a hint of coldness in his tone.
The two quickly split up.
Xu Yao returned to the village, and Xue Han silently supported her.
The next morning, Xu Yao and Xiao Fang came to the shop early and pretended that everything was normal.
"This batch of goods has arrived, Xiaofang, go and check it." Xu Yao ordered. Xiaofang nodded and walked into the warehouse.
The third sister hid behind a tree not far away and watched the scene with pride.
She spread the word that Xu Yao's shop was going to sell inferior goods, which attracted the attention of many villagers.
The villagers were talking about it, with confusion and curiosity in their eyes.
"Yaoyao, there is something wrong with this batch of goods." Xiaofang came out of the warehouse and said in a low voice.
"I know." Xu Yao's eyes were firm, and she signaled Xiaofang to continue cooperating.
"Look, Xu Yao's shop has bought inferior goods!" The third sister stood in the middle of the crowd and shouted loudly, causing an uproar.
The villagers gathered around and looked at Xu Yao and Xiaofang.
Xu Yao and Xiao Fang deliberately opened the goods in front of the villagers to display the so-called "inferior products".
The third sister's smug smile became more and more obvious, as if victory was in sight.
Just then, Xue Han and Uncle Zhang appeared with evidence.
Xue Han walked forward with a stern look on his face, holding an evidence bag containing a series of notes and recordings.
"Fellow villagers, today I am here to reveal a truth." Uncle Zhang's loud voice attracted everyone's attention.
"This batch of inferior goods was deliberately arranged by my third sister." Xue Han continued, his tone firm.
The villagers were immediately in an uproar, and all their eyes turned to the third sister.
The third sister's face turned pale all of a sudden, but she still tried to argue.
"This is impossible, you must have misunderstood." The third sister's voice trembled as she tried to keep her composure.
"Misunderstanding?" Xu Yao stepped forward and sneered, "Fellow villagers, the evidence is here. This is the plan written by the third sister herself, and the recording of her conversation with the person from the supply channel."
Xu Yao said this, showing the contents of the evidence bag to the villagers.
The villagers were talking about it, some of them looked livid, while others looked surprised.
"Third sister, I didn't expect you to do such a thing." Uncle Zhang's voice was tinged with anger.
The third sister's expression became even uglier. She looked around and found that all eyes were full of condemnation.
Her mother's family was also standing in the crowd, looking embarrassed.
"Fellow villagers, Third Sister's conspiracy has been exposed. Not only did she want to destroy Xu Yao's shop, she also wanted to use it to frame her." Xue Han's voice was firm, which made people feel awe.
The villagers began to talk about it, some were indignant, while others looked at Xu Yao with sympathy and admiration.
The third sister's face became more and more ugly. She lowered her head and wanted to escape the scene, but was stopped by Xue Han and Uncle Zhang.
"You still have a lot to explain, folks. We want to hear what she says." Uncle Zhang's voice was majestic.
The third sister stood in the crowd, feeling ashamed. Her conspiracy was completely exposed and her reputation was ruined.
Xu Yao and Xiaofang smiled at each other, their hearts filled with the joy of victory.
"Yaoyao, I'll stay with you tonight." Xue Han's voice was gentle but firm. Xu Yao looked at him, tears of gratitude flashing in her eyes.
"Thank you, Xue Han." Xu Yao whispered, her heart filled with warmth.
Just then, Uncle Zhang suddenly walked up to the third sister and spoke in a stern voice.
"Third sister, do you have anything else to say?" The third sister's face was pale, and her lips were trembling. She was flapping weakly like a plucked chicken.
"No...it's not me, you are wronging me! It's Xu Yao, she framed me!" She shouted at the top of her lungs, trying to make a final struggle, but her voice sounded hoarse and unpleasant, as if her neck was being strangled.
Uncle Zhang snorted coldly, and his eyes scraped across Third Sister's face like a knife.
"Third sister, do you think we are fools? Who in the village doesn't know about the dirty things you did? Do you really think that if you cover it up, no one will see it?"
A burst of whispers broke out in the crowd, like water dripping into a frying pan, causing it to explode.
"That's right, Third Sister, you said before that Xu Yao's goods were fake, but now it seems that you are the fake one!" An aunt shouted at the top of her voice, her tone full of contempt.
"I thought I believed you, you are such an ungrateful person!" Another old man echoed, his tone full of anger.
The third sister was panicked and was running around like an ant on a hot pan.
"It's not me, it's really not me! It's Accountant Li. He asked me to do this!" She pulled Accountant Li into the water as if she was grabbing a life-saving straw.
Everyone's eyes were focused on Accountant Li. Accountant Li was so frightened that he trembled all over. His face was paler than that of the third sister, as if it was covered with a thick layer of flour.
He had accepted favors from the third sister and helped her conceal some things. Now that the third sister had exposed him, he was naturally scared to death.
"Accountant Li, is what Third Sister said true?" Uncle Zhang asked sternly. The voice sounded like thunder in Accountant Li's ears.
Accountant Li stammered and was unable to speak for a long time. Beads of sweat dropped down like pearls from a broken string.
He knew that if he continued to help his third sister conceal the truth, he would be doomed as well.
"I...I..." Accountant Li stammered, "I did help my third sister do some things before, but I didn't know she would do such a thing!" He quickly distanced himself from the matter, fearing that he would be implicated.
Accountant Li's words were undoubtedly the last straw that broke the camel's back.
The villagers' accusations against the third sister became louder, coming like a tide and drowning her.
The third sister couldn't bear it any longer. Her eyes rolled back and she fell straight down, lying on the ground like a puddle of mud.
Her carefully planned conspiracy was exposed, and the image she had worked so hard to build collapsed in an instant.
Some people in the crowd began to talk, some gloated, and some looked at Xu Yao with admiration.
"Xu Yao, you are so amazing. You can actually see through my third sister's conspiracy!" Xiaofang hugged Xu Yao excitedly, her tone full of admiration.
Xu Yao smiled and said nothing.
She knew that the battle was not over yet. Although her third sister had fallen, there were still some of her followers in the village who might wait for an opportunity to take revenge.
As night fell, Xu Yao and Xue Han were walking on their way home. The moonlight shone on them, casting two long shadows.
"Yaoyao, are you okay?" Xue Han asked with concern, his tone full of worry.
Xu Yao shook her head. "I'm fine, but..."
Before she finished her words, she suddenly heard hurried footsteps behind her, and then a dark shadow flashed past them...
