Halfway up the mountain, Old Zhou stopped and said, "We'll set a trap first. Wild boars have been appearing frequently lately. Do you have any experience with them?"
Du Jianshan laughed: "Setting traps? A piece of cake. My skills aren't limited to repairing motorcycles; I'm also an expert at hunting."
Old Zhou looked at him, a hint of appreciation flashing in his eyes: "Not bad, I like this kind of daring young man."
As they walked, the two exchanged their experiences in the mountains. Du Jianshan pointed to an old pine tree: "Wild boars often roam under this pine tree. You can see the leaves have been turned over, and the footprints are clear."
Old Zhou nodded: "Hmm, you have a good eye. There aren't many people in these mountains who can spot things at a glance."
Soon, they dug a small pit next to the pine tree, lined it with dry grass, and set up the animal trap. Du Jianshan skillfully manipulated the rope, while Old Zhou watched from the side, nodding in approval: "Good technique, even more steady than I've ever seen."
Du Jianshan smiled faintly: "A steady hand makes for a steady mind. If your mind isn't steady, you can't even fix a car."
Old Zhou laughed heartily: "Alright, you're right! We should cooperate more in the future."
The sun was slowly setting in the west, and the mountain breeze carried a chill. The two stood under the pine tree, gazing at the winding mountain path in the distance, both knowing that tonight they might face not only wild beasts, but also the unpredictable weather and terrain of the mountains.
Du Jianshan looked up at the sky: "With this weather, it might rain tonight. We need to speed things up."
Old Zhou patted him on the shoulder: "Don't worry, I trust you."
Du Jianshan turned around, his eyes calm: "Walk slowly, don't disturb the wild animals. Footsteps in the mountains are much more sensitive than you think."
Old Zhou nodded, carefully adjusting his breathing: "I understand, you're right."
As the mountain road rounded a dense forest, Du Jianshan suddenly stopped, squatted down, and pointed to the ground: "Look, the soil here is loose, and the footprints are still fresh. A wild boar is nearby."
Old Zhou leaned closer, his eyes fixed on the footprints: "Hmm, that's right, it's a big one. Are you sure you can catch it tonight?"
Du Jianshan's eyes sharpened: "Possibly, but we need to be quiet and approach slowly."
The two followed the wild boar's tracks silently, the wind rustling the leaves in the woods. Suddenly, Du Jianshan whispered, "Slow down, it's around the corner ahead. We need to split up."
Old Zhou nodded: "Okay, you go to the left, I'll go to the right, we'll attack from both sides."
Du Jianshan crouched down, his fingers lightly touching the gun handle, as if sensing the breath of his prey. Old Zhou also adjusted his gun, his eyes fixed on the depths of the bushes.
A few minutes later, a low growl came from the woods. A wild boar appeared, covered in mud and sweat, sniffing the ground.
Du Jianshan said in a low voice, "Stay calm, don't rush."
Old Zhou held his breath, his eyes fixed on the wild boar's movements. Du Jianshan slowly raised his gun, aimed at the target, his eyes and hands moving in sync, as if he were engaged in a silent battle with his prey.
The wild boar seemed to sense the danger and suddenly charged towards Lao Zhou's direction. Lao Zhou took a few steps back and steadied his gun: "It's coming for me!"
Du Jianshan quickly assessed its trajectory: "Be careful it doesn't turn, don't let it disappear into the depths of the woods!"
The wild boar growled, sending dirt flying. Old Zhou steadied his gun and aimed. Du Jianshan moved swiftly on the other side, trying to block their escape route.
Finally, with a muffled thud, the wild boar fell, raising a cloud of dust. The two men exchanged a glance and let out a long sigh.
Old Zhou patted Du Jianshan on the shoulder: "Well done! This skill isn't just for repairing motorcycles, it's also excellent for hunting."
Du Jianshan bent down, looked at the fallen wild boar, and said softly, "Handle it carefully, don't waste it."
