Chapter 120 Two Little Pigs

The wild boar's fur was stained red with blood, and it was panting heavily. Its tusks gleamed coldly in the moonlight, and despite being covered in blood, it remained defiant and lunged at Du Jianshan again.

Du Jianshan suddenly jerked back, flipped over behind a rock, and roared, "Old Zhou! Shoot it again, aim for its front leg!"

Old Zhou's eyes were fixed on the wounded wild boar, sweat pouring down his body. His hands trembled slightly, and his voice was strained: "It's still not down... This beast is incredibly tough!"

"Stop talking nonsense!" Du Jianshan shouted. "Keep your composure. Hunting boars is all about head-on confrontation, one blow at a time! If you panic, you're finished!"

Old Zhou took a deep breath, tapped his heel on the ground to steady himself, and raised his gun to aim.

"Bang!"

A flash of gunfire, and the bullet struck the wild boar squarely in the foreleg. The boar let out a miserable howl, collapsed to the ground, and frantically pawed at the earth, sending mud and dead leaves flying.

Taking advantage of the opportunity, Du Jianshan rushed forward with his hunting knife, his eyes cold, and shouted, "Old Zhou, protect me!"

"Okay!" Old Zhou reloaded the bullets, half-squatting, ready to fire another shot at any moment.

Du Jianshan circled around to the side of the wild boar. Seeing the beast about to get up, he suddenly lunged forward, a flash of cold light in his hand—the tip of his knife pierced straight into the wild boar's shoulder!

The wild boar's roar was deafening, and it shuddered so violently that it almost flung Du Jianshan away.

"See the mountain, be careful!" Old Zhou shouted, raising his gun.

"Don't open it!" Du Jianshan gripped the hilt of the knife tightly, gritting his teeth as he said, "I'm afraid I'll get hurt!"

The wild boar struggled wildly, dragging him into a tree, the impact causing him to feel a tightness in his chest and almost vomit blood.

"Damn it!" Du Jianshan groaned, veins bulging on his forehead. He twisted the blade with all his might, and blood gushed out.

The wild boar stiffened, let out a shrill cry, and finally collapsed to the ground with a thud, twitching a few times before falling silent.

The forest fell silent instantly, leaving only the two of them breathing heavily.

Old Zhou wiped the sweat from his face and sat down on the ground, exhausted: "Damn it... I was scared to death! This beast is like a little calf! Jianshan, if it weren't for your accurate knife, I'm afraid I would have died here tonight."

Du Jianshan wiped the blood off his knife and smiled coldly: "What are you panicking for? This is how boar hunting is done. If you're a coward, don't come up the mountain with me again."

Old Zhou was a bit unconvinced: "That's true, but this wild boar was really fierce. I fired two shots, and it still pounced so hard. Our old guns are quite powerful; most prey would have been brought down long ago."

Du Jianshan glanced at the dead pig, squatted down to examine the wound, and said, "This is an old wild boar, with thick skin and hard bones, several times tougher than a normal pig. Besides, wild boars are more ferocious than leopards when they fight. Remember this: a gun can only clear the way; in the end, you have to use a knife to finish the job."

"Put the knife away..." Old Zhou swallowed hard, staring at the blood-stained hunting knife in Du Jianshan's hand, feeling both awe and a chill in his heart.

Du Jianshan remained calm, wiped the knife clean, and sheathed it, as if the perilous situation he had just experienced was nothing more than a trivial matter.

"Alright, take the pig back," Du Jianshan ordered.

"It's so big, can the two of us lift it?" Old Zhou tried to lift it and almost strained his back.

"Carry it!" Du Jianshan said coldly. "You think the game is too heavy? If you're tired, don't come to the mountain!"

Old Zhou smiled bitterly, resigned to his fate, untied the rope and tied it to the pig's leg with Du Jianshan, and the two of them lifted it up together.

After walking a few steps, Old Zhou couldn't help but ask, "Jianshan, do you think there's more than one in these mountains? I heard some noises coming from deep in the woods just now."

Du Jianshan paused, his sharp gaze fixed on the dark, dense forest. He said coldly, "You heard me right. These beasts usually travel in packs, one old boar with several young ones. We've probably disturbed them tonight."

"Then...should we retreat? If a few more come, we won't be able to handle it," Old Zhou said, his voice weak.

"Retreat? Do you believe that the moment we turn around, those pigs will circle around behind us? The worst thing you can do when hunting pigs is to turn your back on them." Du Jianshan's voice was cold and stern. "Keep going down the mountain and stay put."

As they spoke, they indeed heard snorting sounds coming from deep within the woods, along with the sound of branches being snapped.

Old Zhou felt a chill run down his spine: "Damn it, they really caught up!"

Du Jianshan narrowed his eyes and hissed, "Don't panic! Put the pig down and stand back to back. Follow my orders!"

The two men placed their prey on the ground, pressed close together, and simultaneously drew their guns and hunting knives.

In the darkness, two eerie lights flashed, drawing ever closer. They were the eyes of a wild boar, gleaming a fierce green in the night.

"They're here!" Old Zhou's voice trembled.

Du Jianshan coldly shouted, "Don't tremble! Wait for me to call you."

The bushes suddenly burst open, and a large sow with two piglets rushed out and pounced on the two men.

"Fire!" Du Jianshan roared.

"Bang--!"

The gunshot was deafening. The sow was hit in the shoulder, but she still charged forward frantically. Du Jianshan stepped forward, his blade flashing like lightning, and with a swift horizontal slash, struck the pig's neck!

The sow screamed in agony, gushing blood as she rolled and thrashed on the ground. The piglets scattered in all directions, turning the forest into chaos.

Old Zhou was panting heavily, cold sweat streaming down his forehead: "Jianshan, I think we should retreat quickly. If a few more come, we really can't hold on."

Du Jianshan stared at the lingering sounds in the forest, his brows furrowed, and said in a deep voice, "Let's go, take the prey, don't linger. There are many animals in the mountains, it's not a place to stay for long at night."

The two men worked together to carry the two wild boars, their steps heavy, yet they walked faster and faster.
