Chapter 145 Explosive Pack

"Iron Bull!" Du Jianshan roared and rushed forward, his hunting knife flashing coldly as he plunged it into the beast's neck!

Blood splattered all over his face. The beast howled in pain, struggled and rolled several times, breaking several tree trunks before finally coming to rest.

"Phew!" Tie Niu gasped for breath as he got up from the ground and plopped down on his backside. "Damn it, that almost killed me!"

Du Jianshan wiped the blood away and stared at the beast on the ground.

It was a huge grizzly bear, with bulging shoulders and back, half of its fur charred, and a bullet hole in its right flank.

“Greyback bear,” Du Jianshan said slowly. “It’s the one that comes down the mountain to root up crops.”

Tie Niu was stunned for a while, then suddenly chuckled: "Hey, Brother Du, this is a big one! It must weigh at least 300 jin, right?"

"Don't be too happy yet." Du Jianshan squatted down and examined the bear paw prints. "These paw prints are fresh, and there are more on the back."

"What do you mean?" Tie Niu was taken aback.

“It means! It’s not unique,” Du Jianshan said in a low voice.

Tie Niu's face turned pale instantly: "You mean there's another one?"

"Hmm." Du Jianshan looked up into the depths of the forest. "It's probably a female. When bears have cubs, the males come out first to scout the way."

"Then...then let's hurry up and go!" Tie Niu panicked.

"Run? You'll die even faster. The mother bear smelled blood and is heading this way."

"What should we do then?"

Du Jianshan looked around at the terrain, his gaze landing on the rock face on the right. "Go up!"

The two struggled to climb, but when they were halfway up, they heard a deafening roar behind them.

Iron Bull shuddered and almost slipped off the rock face.

"Quick!" Du Jianshan reached out and pulled him onto the rock platform. The two of them lay down and peered out! A female bear, even bigger than before, was charging out of the forest.

It sniffed around the grizzly bear carcass, then raised its head and roared, the sound almost shaking the rocks.

Tie Niu trembled with fear: "It's over, it's over, I'm really going to die this time..."

Du Jianshan gritted his teeth: "Don't make a sound. It's looking for a mate, and if it can't find one, it'll run around aimlessly for a while."

The mother bear circled the carcass a few times, then suddenly smelled a scent coming from the direction of the rocks. She raised her head and looked in their direction.

The two of them held their breath almost simultaneously.

"It...it saw us." Tie Niu's voice was trembling.

Du Jianshan pressed down hard on his shoulder: "Don't move!"

The bear growled a few times below, then suddenly stood up, grabbed the rock face with its front paws, and began to climb upwards, one step at a time.

"Oh my god! It climbed up!" Tie Niu was so scared he almost cried.

"Where's the explosives?" Du Jianshan whispered.

"We used that packet, the rest... are in the basket!"

Du Jianshan grabbed the basket and pulled out the last explosive charge and a fuse.

"Step back."

"Brother Du, what are you doing?"

"Go down and send it on its way."

"Are you crazy?!" Tie Niu grabbed him.

"If we don't do it, it will come up. Then we'll all die together."

Tie Niu's lips trembled: "I...I'll go lure it!"

Du Jianshan was taken aback and looked at him.

“You’re fast, I’m slow. I’ll run a few steps, then you light the fire and throw it.” Tie Niu said, drawing a short knife from his waist, his eyes flashing with ruthlessness.

Du Jianshan was startled, and suddenly reached out and patted him on the shoulder: "You're a real man."

The mother bear had already climbed halfway up the platform, her breathing heavy. Tie Niu took a deep breath, leaped off the other side of the platform, rolled on the ground, and ran towards the edge of the forest.

"Hey! You filthy beast! I'm right here!" he shouted as he ran.

The mother bear was indeed attracted, let out a roar, released the rock wall, and chased after it with a kick of her four hooves.

Taking advantage of the situation, Du Jianshan lit the fuse, silently counted to three, and then hurled the explosive charge!
