Chapter 328: Husband and Wife Meet

Chapter 328 The couple meets

"Xiao Chengzi, this is our home in Jincheng. This is your first time here. However, you may only come here this time. After we get through Beijing, I'm afraid you won't come here again." Jiang Haitang said softly to her son, feeling a little emotional in her heart.

This place carries the initial memories of her and Lu Liangchen's home. Although simple, it is full of warmth.

However, they will stay in the capital in the future, and this place will become a memory.

Xiao He has already started sweeping the floor and dusting, his movements are quick and clean.

Jiang Haitang put the child on a bed with a makeshift blanket, stuffed a toy into his hand, and picked up a rag to help.

While I was busy, Kang Xiaoxia came over with a pot of steaming potato stew. There were a few white steamed buns on the upside-down lid of the pot.

"Sister Haitang, Sister He, stop being busy and eat while it's hot! The steamed buns in the factory cafeteria are so good today, I bought a few extra."

The rich aroma of food instantly filled the house.

Xiao He felt embarrassed and quickly stepped forward to take the basin.

"I feel so embarrassed. I've cost you so much money." Jiang Haitang thanked him with a smile.

"These are all home-cooked dishes. Why are you being so polite? Sit down and eat!" Kang Xiaoxia smiled brightly and, like a magician, she pulled out a small bowl filled with a tender steamed egg. "This is for the baby. I think the little one should start eating solid food."

"Thank you, Xiao Xia, you're so thoughtful. This kid is really greedy for food. We have to give him some when we eat! Sister Vanilla, let's eat together."

The three of them sat around a small table and ate.

Kang Xiaoxia couldn't wait to ask about things in the capital, Xiao Taozi, and Jiang Haitang's new job. While she was happy for Jiang Haitang's family, it could be seen that her eyes were full of curiosity and yearning for the outside world.

Jiang Haitang picked out some interesting things to talk about, and then asked about the latest developments in the textile factory and the machinery factory, and whether there were any new changes in Kang Xiaoxia's work.

"It's still the same. I've had more orders lately, so I've been working overtime more. Even our factory office has been busy." Kang Xiaoxia said, her tone a little tired, but more fulfilled. "But overtime is good. There's a subsidy for overtime! I'm just thinking about saving more money now..."

She didn't say anything else, but Jiang Haitang understood that she wanted to build up more confidence for her and Zhao Kai's future.

"I can feel in both Beijing and Huacheng that policies are starting to change. Xiaoxia, you're a very smart girl. Read more in your free time. If the college entrance examination is reinstated, your future will be much better if you can get into university."

Jiang Haitang thought for a long time and finally decided to remind Kang Xiaoxia.

Whether compared with Huacheng or Jingcheng, Jincheng is relatively backward and the information is much more blocked. Jiang Haitang doesn't want Kang Xiaoxia to miss the opportunity.

Kang Xiaoxia first showed a happy smile, but then it dimmed.

"I'm afraid it won't work. I haven't read a book in a long time."

"It's not just you who hasn't read books. Others haven't read books in recent years. Besides, even if you're not taking the exam, reading more books will still be beneficial."

"Well, Sister Haitang, I will study hard."

Xiao He ate quietly, listened to them chatting, and occasionally smiled shyly.

She felt everything in Jincheng was new to her, but also a little uneasy, as this was not the environment she was familiar with.

However, he could feel that the atmosphere here was really good.

It seems that Haitang is a smart person and can get along well with everyone.

A few people were talking here when the door rang again. This time it was Aunt Kong who came.

"I went to the supply and marketing cooperative, and when I came back I heard someone say you were back. Haitang, let me take a look, is this Xiaochengzi? Oh, she's really pretty."

Aunt Kong put down what she was holding and reached out to hug Xiaochengzi, who was lying on a stool nearby and blowing bubbles after eating.

Jiang Haitang exchanged a few words with Aunt Kong.

"You've already eaten it. I even told you to come to our house for dinner tonight." Aunt Kong said this, only to find that the food on the table had been almost eaten.

"Come to our house for dinner tomorrow. We haven't seen each other for a while, and the kids at home miss you. By the way, why didn't Xiao Taozi come with you?" Aunt Kong was quite disappointed when she didn't see the familiar little guy.

"I came here on a business trip. I didn't bring Xiao Taozi with me. She's in Beijing. She always says she misses you. When I have the chance, I'll bring the child to visit you."

Although she said this, Aunt Kong knew that it was just a saying and it was not certain when she would have time in the future.

"Haitang, you're coming this time, are you going to stay for a while?"

"Maybe it won't be long. I'll be going back soon. There's work waiting for me in Beijing."

"Before you leave, you have to tell me. I have to make something for Xiao Taozi that she likes to eat, and you can bring it back."

After Jiang Haitang thanked her with a smile, Aunt Kong went home.

After dinner, Xiao He rushed to wash the dishes.

Kang Xiaoxia sat and talked with Jiang Haitang for a while before she stood up and said goodbye: "Sister Haitang, Sister He, you must be tired after sitting in the car all day. Go to bed early. I'll come to see you tomorrow after get off work!"

"Come over early tomorrow. I brought you a gift from Huacheng."

After seeing Kang Xiaoxia off, it was already dark.

Xiao He boiled some hot water, gave Xiao Chengzi a bath, and also washed himself.

Jiang Haitang sat on the bed holding her sweet-smelling and soft son, watching Xiao He busying himself inside and outside the house, making it even tidier. She felt very grateful.

"Sister Vanilla, you've worked hard today. You should rest early."

"It's not hard. This is what I should do. Can I take care of the child at night?" Xiao He asked with a smile.

"It's okay, I'll take care of him tonight. The little one may not be able to adapt to the changed environment."

Xiao He returned to his room.

It was late at night and the northwest wind was cool.

Jiang Haitang hugged her son, feeling the long-lost tranquility that belonged to Jincheng.

Lu Liangchen did not return until noon the next day. When he arrived at the door of his house and saw that it was open, he was extremely surprised. His first reaction was that there might be a thief.

But then I thought, the security in the factory is very good now, there will definitely be no thieves.

He walked straight into the yard, but he kept his guard up at all times, fearing any accidents.

Then he saw a figure in the yard with his back to the door, hanging children's clothes in the yard, with a washbasin next to it.

Is it Begonia?

Lu Liangchen was just delighted, but then he remembered that the figure he saw was clearly not Haitang.

What's going on?

Xiao He was startled when he heard the voice. He turned around and saw that it was a strange man. He was shocked at first, but then he suddenly realized.

"You must be Director Lu, right? I'm He Xiangcao, helping Haitang look after Xiaochengzi."

"Haitang is really here?" Lu Liangchen felt a huge surge of joy rushing to his head. He didn't even have time to ask another question and rushed into the house with big strides.

The door was open, and the afternoon sun poured into the main room. Jiang Haitang was sitting at the table, looking down at a drawing intently, writing and drawing with a pencil in his hand.

She was wearing a casual cotton shirt, her hair casually tied behind her head, and her profile was soft and focused.

On the ground at her feet was an old blanket on which little Orange was lying, making forceful baby sounds of "hmm".

This scene was so warm and precious, just like the scene of home he had longed for countless times.

Lu Liangchen stood at the door, and for a moment he didn't dare to speak, for fear of breaking the silence.

It was Little Orange who first noticed the tall figure at the door. He stopped babbling, tilted his little head, and looked over curiously with his big black eyes.

Jiang Haitang noticed something was wrong with her son and raised her head.

When she saw Lu Liangchen, dusty and stunned at the door, she first opened her eyes wide in surprise, and then a warm and bright smile spread across her face: "Liangchen? You're back?"

This call instantly woke Lu Liangchen from his trance.

He took a few steps into the house, his eyes fixed on his wife and children, his voice a little hoarse with excitement.

"Haitang...you...why did you suddenly come back? You didn't even tell me in advance!"

As he spoke, his eyes fell on his son impatiently.

The little guy didn't know if it was because of his natural father-son instincts, but he was not shy. Instead, he grinned at him with his toothless mouth, stretched out his two little arms, made a gesture for a hug, and made vague babbling sounds.

This hit the softest spot in Lu Liangchen's heart.

His eyes welled up and he almost knelt down, holding his soft and fragrant son tightly in his arms, burying his face in the little guy's neck and taking a deep breath of the milky scent.

"Good son! You miss your dad so much!" His voice was muffled, with uncontrollable excitement and sobs.

Little Chengzi felt itchy from his father's stubble and giggled, slapping Lu Liangchen's face and shoulders with his little hands.

Jiang Haitang put down her pen, walked over, and looked at the father and son hugging each other tightly, with tears in her eyes.

"I went on a business trip to Huacheng a few days earlier than expected. I wanted to give you a surprise, so I came over. Who knew that you wouldn't be here when I got here?" Jiang Haitang said with a smile, but there were tears in her eyes.

Lu Liangchen freed one arm and held his wife tightly in his arms.

The family of three hugged each other tightly in the main hall filled with sunshine. The longing and concern for each other after months of separation turned into real warmth and happiness at this moment.

After a long while, Lu Liangchen calmed down a little, but he was still reluctant to let his son go.

He stood up holding Little Orange and looked at Jiang Haitang carefully: "You've lost weight. Is it because you didn't eat well outside? Are you tired? Did the journey go smoothly? Did the child bother you?"

A series of questions were raised, full of concern.

Jiang Haitang smiled and shook her head. "Everything's fine. Little Chengzi is very well behaved and adapted well to the train. He didn't make much noise. You, on the other hand, look a bit thinner. Are you busy at the factory?"

"It's okay, I just miss you guys." Lu Liangchen looked at his wife, his eyes so gentle that they could drip water.

"The separation now is so that we can be together in the future." Jiang Haitang had the same idea as Lu Liangchen.
