Chapter 1 The Child Is Sick

"Isn't this a terrible thing? Such a lovely child, how could she bear to throw the child away!"

"Damn it? How could such a good young man like Shi Ting have to meet a woman like Ruan Qingling? They even had a child together, but she still couldn't stand by him? She even threw away her own child!"

"I heard the child was pale when she was found, and now they don't dare to bring her home. It's such a tragedy! They treat her like a goddess, like she's made of gold."

"I think Shi Ting treats her too well, which is why he's praising her to the skies."

"If this kind of woman were my wife, I would definitely beat her until she behaved. Shi Ting is just too good to her. I can't bear to hit her or scold her, so I've spoiled her rotten... I feel bad for Aunt Liu, she has to help take care of the child."

"Why didn't you let Grandma take care of it? Why did you have to let Aunt Liu help take care of it..."

Ruan Qingling stood behind the banyan tree, watching the group of women under the tree who had finished their meal gossiping about this and that, fanning themselves as they made unrestrained comments.

She was the subject of these women's comments.

She never expected that during the mission, the plane would malfunction and crash. She gave up her chance to live to her comrade, and half an hour earlier, she had actually traveled back to 1978 and become a mother who abandoned her one-year-old child.

The original owner abandoned the child in the sugarcane field.

Fortunately, the child was not taken away by stray cats or dogs and was found by Song Shiting.

The original owner was only twenty-one years old this year. She didn't truly love Song Shiting when she married him. Later, she became pregnant and attempted suicide several times. After giving birth, she wanted to kill the child every day.

It could be said that the original owner lived every day with the mindset of wanting to abandon her husband and children.

Yesterday, while everyone was looking for their children, she wanted to leave.

Unexpectedly, while crossing the embankment, someone suddenly pushed him, causing him to lose his balance and tumble down the embankment, hitting a black dog in the process.

Once I was sent home, that was it...

Ruan Qingling frowned. From her memories, she knew that the original owner of this body had been married off to a man in the mountains by her stepmother, and that she had cried and made a scene after the marriage.

Song Shiting had been silently enduring it all, but after finding out she was pregnant, she made an even bigger fuss.

The original owner had a really bad reputation in the village, and his relationships with his neighbors were also a mess.

The thought of her child, who was less than a year old, being abandoned in the sugarcane field by the original owner, and who would have been carried away by wild dogs by nightfall if Song Shiting and the villagers hadn't found him, was still unbearable.

Ruan Qingling couldn't help but rub her forehead; she had come out to find her child.

A woman's voice suddenly stopped, and several people turned to look at Ruan Qingling before scattering away.

Ruan Qingling: "..."

Everyone reacted to her as if she were a monster, which shows how outrageous the original owner of this body must have been.

Ruan Qingling took a deep breath. No matter what, the child was innocent. She heard that the child had been sent to her sixth aunt's house by Song Shiting.

She searched through the original owner's memories, touched her hair, patted her dusty clothes, and then walked towards her sixth aunt.

"Oh no, oh no! She's trying to kill that child again! Quickly, go and tell Song Shiting to come back and take this wicked woman away."

"Okay, okay, I'll go right now."

As soon as Ruan Qingling walked by, the group of women who had been chatting met up and then ran off again.

She had only taken a few steps when she heard her stomach rumble like thunder: "Gurgle..."

She touched her stomach; she was really hungry!

It was already afternoon, and she had to bring the child back. From the original owner's memories, she knew that her sixth aunt's family was also in a bad situation.

Although she was so thin that a gust of wind could blow her away, she walked quite fast and arrived at the outside of Aunt Liu's mud-brick wall in no time.

Immediately, you can hear the baby crying loudly inside.

The voice sounded off immediately.

It's either because you're too hungry or you're sick.

When she went in, her sixth aunt was holding the child in one arm and burning firewood in the other, coaxing her, "Oh, oh, Yaya, don't cry, don't cry, Grandma will make you some millet porridge, just a little while."

But no matter how she tried to soothe the child, he just cried very loudly.

She was already so upset that she was hysterical.

Ruan Qingling glanced at her sixth aunt's house. The kitchen was dark and messy, with straw and firewood piled up everywhere. How could the child be safe with her in such an environment?

She immediately said, "Auntie, give me the child."

When Aunt Liu saw Ruan Qingling, she was startled and her back stiffened. She quickly said, "What are you doing here? Go back, go back, and don't touch the child again."

That's terrifying!

When Ruan Qingling gets ruthless, she won't even abandon her own daughter!

That's terrifying!

The child is so young and has suffered so much; Aunt Liu is absolutely unwilling to give the child to Ruan Qingling.

Ruan Qingling looked at the child, whose face had turned pale from crying. The child's condition was not just due to hunger; there might be other reasons as well.

She needs to have her child checked.

Ruan Qingling said, "Auntie, the child is sick, let me take a look."

Aunt Liu did not believe Ruan Qingling's words.

She felt that Ruan Qingling was determined to kill the child.

She hits the child whenever she's unhappy. How can such a small child withstand being hit?

Aunt Liu said, "No need, leave the child with me for now, you take care of yourself first."

But the child was still crying, and the sound of his wailing was heartbreaking.

Ruan Qingling walked over and said, "Auntie, it's too smoky in here. The child is uncomfortable inside. Let me take her outside for some fresh air."

The house was small, and the smoke from the stove made her feel choked, let alone the children.

Ruan Qingling's hand had just touched the child's forehead when she noticed it was a little hot.

"Auntie, the child is sick, give him to me."

Aunt Liu couldn't agree to that, and said, "Don't worry, I'll cook some porridge for the child and then take her to see the doctor later. You don't need to worry."

Holding her child, she wanted to get away from Ruan Qingling.

She didn't dare say anything to provoke Ruan Qingling, for fear that she might suddenly cause trouble for her.

Ruan Qingling tried her best to make her expression look sincere.

"Auntie, give me the baby first. The baby needs to breathe. He can't stay here, or he'll suffocate."

Aunt Liu: "Don't worry, this is how I raised my grandson, it's fine."

Song Shiting entrusted the child to her, and she certainly couldn't hand the child over to Ruan Qingling, otherwise she wouldn't be able to explain it to Song Shiting.

The crying grew louder and louder, and Ruan Qingling felt that she couldn't let the child cry like this anymore.

The child is not feeling well, and with the smoke in the room, if he keeps crying, he'll suffocate.

Not wanting her child to suffer any more harm, Ruan Qingling couldn't bring herself to try and persuade her sixth aunt anymore...

Song Shiting was leading the villagers to repair the road today when Aunt Liu from next door rushed over in a hurry: "Shiting, hurry, hurry! Your wife went to find the child. She went to Aunt Liu's side. You need to go and stop her so she doesn't hurt the child."

Song Shiting immediately threw down the hoe and hurried over to his sixth aunt's side.

Just as they reached the outside of Aunt Liu's wall, they heard Ruan Qingling's icy voice yell at Aunt Liu: "Give the child to me, I am the child's mother."

Then Aunt Liu screamed, "The child...the child...ah..."
