Chapter 249 What a fine bird!

Ruan Qingling first admired the unique streets characteristic of this era.

The streets are lined with water chestnut trees, providing ample shade, complemented by old walls covered with slogans.

"I am not afraid of hardship, nor am I afraid of death."

"Study diligently and thoroughly understand Marxism."

As she walked along, the street seemed like a shy young girl, waiting for her to vie for attention.

There was a shop selling birds and animals ahead, and Ruan Qingling was attracted by a thrush.

As soon as she stood still, someone invited Ruan Qingling to come into the shop and sit down.

In her past life, her grandfather was an old man who loved raising birds.

There are all sorts of birds in the house.

But she doesn't have much time at home.

Looking back now, I realize I spent far too little time with my family in my past life. Now that I understand, it's too late.

An old man, dressed in a white Tang suit and carrying a birdcage, walked over and said, "Old Xiao, let me see what's wrong with my bird? It was fine yesterday, but it looks unhappy today."

The old man was clearly not well; he was very pale and his steps were unsteady.

Old Xiao, the owner of the shop, looked up and said, "Let me see what's wrong."

Ruan Qingling's eyes lit up when she saw the bird in the cage.

What a fine bird!

"Hey, there's nothing wrong," Old Xiao said after checking.

"Then why isn't it making a sound? It hasn't moved at all since last night."

Old Xiao said, "Maybe something is upsetting it. Are there any things around it that it doesn't like? Let's put it here and see."

Lu Yuanping nodded and said, "Okay, we'll leave it here for a while."

Ruan Qingling looked at the other person, who was a very dignified old man.

The Lu family here is considered a prominent family, so is this the old man?

She glanced at the bird in the cage and said, "This bird is excellent, a top-quality specimen."

As soon as she mentioned "top-quality," Old Xiao felt emboldened and immediately replied, "Young lady, you don't know, this old man is very picky; he won't accept anything that isn't top-quality."

Ruan Qingling nodded and said, "This bird has a nail-like beak, so it can have the upper hand in a fight."

Lu Yuanping looked at Ruan Qingling: "You understand?"

Ruan Qingling said, "My grandfather likes birds, so I've learned a bit about them too."

Bird owners like to talk to other bird owners.

Lu Yuanping then asked Ruan Qingling, "Can you see anything else good about this bird?"

Ruan Qingling said, "This red-haired thrush has a mouth like a nail, eyebrows like a line, a body like a gourd and a tail like an arrow, thin hair on its head, clear eyes, and legs like cow tendons that can fight."

My grandfather had a similar bird in his past life, and he always said that.

Upon hearing this, Lu Yuanping narrowed his eyes and stroked his beard with a chuckle.

Old Xiao felt that Ruan Qingling was absolutely right. His business was difficult. These days, there weren't many people who knew about birds. He only started this business because of his own hobby.

Ruan Qingling's words made him look at her with newfound respect.

Ruan Qingling looked at Lu Yuanping and asked, "Grandpa, are you feeling unwell?"

Lu Yuanping forced a helpless smile and asked, "Is this bad of me? Everyone can see that?"

Ruan Qingling said, "I know a little about traditional Chinese medicine and health preservation. I originally raised birds to relax my mind. But you're making yourself more stressed, which is worse for your health."

So that's another way of saying it.

Lu Yuanping became interested and started chatting with Ruan Qingling.

While they were chatting, the bird seemed to recover some of its spirits and began to sing, its voice clear and pleasant.

Old Xiao immediately said, "This bird is fine now."

Lu Yuanping glanced at the thrush. He liked this bird the most because its feather color was pure and matched its eyes perfectly, but he didn't know that it was listless at home.

Seeing Lu Yuanping's distress, Ruan Qingling said, "There's nothing wrong with this bird. It's probably just a smell it doesn't like. Otherwise, it wouldn't be so sullen. Look, it's much better now and there's nothing wrong with it at all."

Lu Yuanping frowned and asked Ruan Qingling kindly, "What kind of taste does it dislike?"

Ruan Qingling took a deep sniff and immediately figured out the reason, asking, "Grandpa, have you been taking medicine?"

Lu Yuanping nodded: "I've been taking medicine."

Old Xiao said, "Oh, the thrush is sensitive to smells, it must have been affected by your medicine."

Lu Yuanping sighed. The good bird he had carefully selected had actually picked on his illness?

He can't do without taking his medicine.

He asked Lao Xiao, "Then what should I do? I can't just not take my medicine. I can't just let myself be sick every day without taking care of myself?"

It's unreasonable to risk one's life for a bird.

Ruan Qingling looked at Lu Yuanping, whose face was rosy and whose health had improved well, but he had taken too much medicine.

His already compromised internal organs simply couldn't handle the amount of medication he was taking.

I've been trying various treatments, but they're not the right medicine for my symptoms.

Old Xiao said, "This bird is precious and can't stand the smell of your medicine. Why don't you keep it here with me? You can come and see it if you want."

The birds were already hopping around in the cage.

This shows that the illness was indeed caused by the smell of medicine.

Lu Yuanping is getting on in years, and his love for birds is growing stronger, almost to the point of obsession, especially when it comes to getting a bird he likes.

He was overjoyed to get the bird, but now that he's being told to keep it outside, he's naturally reluctant.

Thinking that he was getting old and that even birds could no longer keep him company, he was overcome with grief, his expression gradually became distorted, and then his body suddenly went limp.

Old Xiao screamed in fright.

Ruan Qingling quickly stepped forward to help him up, pulled a chair next to him to sit down, and then pinched Lu Yuanping's philtrum acupoint.

They began to treat Lu Yuanping.

Old Xiao was almost about to call the Lu family over when he heard Lu Yuanping suddenly make a sound.

He turned around in surprise and asked, "How are you feeling?"

Lu Yuanping felt a bit better.

It almost had an attack.

This problem has been going on for so long; it flares up whenever I get excited.

Otherwise, his family wouldn't let him travel far anymore.

But he happens to like raising birds and taking them out to play.

He looked at Ruan Qingling beside him: "Little girl, did you save me just now?"

Ruan Qingling smiled slightly: "Grandpa, you almost had an attack just now."

Lu Yuanping knew that when he had an attack, his fingers would clench into a fist and his body would be unable to stretch out.

I didn't expect it to happen so quickly this time.

It doesn't seem to have been posted?

"Did you use massage techniques just now?"

Ruan Qingling nodded: "I saw you were about to faint just now, so I gave you a massage."

Lu Yuanping nodded: "Your technique is really good, even better than the picture my grandson brought. I guess my grandson doesn't know how to do it, so I didn't notice it."

Ruan Qingling smiled slightly: "It's good that you're alright."

Old Xiao asked from the side, "Young lady, are you studying medicine?"

Ruan Qingling nodded: "Yes."

Lu Yuanping exclaimed, "No wonder your technique is so professional. I don't know where my grandson learned a trick or two, but he came back and kept asking me to try it out. It had some effect, but it wasn't as good as what you did. Young lady, could you teach my grandson?"
