Chapter 5 The Little Broken Bowl's Golden Finger

She quickly took the small, broken bowl down and held it in her hand. She looked around and, seeing that no one was paying attention to her, she pretended to be calm but actually quickened her pace and ran to a secluded spot to examine the small, broken bowl carefully.

It's so small! The rim is only as thick as my wrist, and it's no more than five centimeters high—practically a child's item. And so worn! There are two small holes on the side, and it's a bit rusty. It was originally white, but it's yellowed and dull; I don't know how many years it's been sitting there.

It's the kind of junk that nobody would pick up even if you threw it on the street.

However, Yu Jiu firmly believed that anything that could emerge from her body was definitely not junk! The bowl was for putting things in, so Yu Jiu thought for a moment, then picked up two pebbles from the ground and threw them in.

"Whoosh."

The two small pebbles disappeared immediately upon touching the bottom of the bowl.

"Gone? Where did it go?"

Yu Jiu curiously turned the bowl upside down, trying to find the two small stones.

"Knock knock."

Two things fell out of the bowl and hit the ground with a dull thud.

"Is it gold???"

Two golden, round beads lay quietly on the ground. Yu Jiu picked them up with delight, her eyes shining. She pressed them against the wall and tapped them hard, causing the beads to flatten.

It really is gold!

Inspired, Yu Jiu picked up a few more pebbles and threw them into the bowl. This time, pebbles appeared, but they were larger stones.

It seems that what appears each time is unpredictable. She pursed her lips and thought for a moment, then picked up another leaf and threw it in. What came out was a seed.

"If you put money in, will you get money out?"

Yu Jiu found the smallest denomination coin, a one-cent coin, and put it in. After a while, a brand-new ten-yuan note lay quietly in the bowl.

"It's real money! Looks like God saw how miserable my past life was and sent me something good."

Yu Jiu happily put the money away and put in another ten-cent coin, but this time it came out as a blank piece of paper instead of money. But no matter what, the little broken bowl was still somewhat useful, and she was already satisfied with the opportunity to exchange it. She could just try a few more times, and eventually she would get something usable.

With this, she felt more confident going to the countryside.

Yu Jiu put the small, broken bowl into her pocket, and after walking a few steps, she suddenly thought of something else.

"Could we put it back into the birthmark?"

Such a treasure would be safer if it could still be stored inside one's body. Yu Jiu thought of this and tried it, pressing it on her birthmark. After a while, the birthmark began to heat up, and with a whoosh, the small broken bowl disappeared.

Yu Jiu pressed the birthmark and silently chanted "come out!" The little broken bowl appeared again. If she didn't chant "come out!", the little broken bowl wouldn't appear just by touching the birthmark, thus avoiding accidental exposure.

"Very good!"

This was probably the happiest Yu Jiu had ever laughed since her rebirth. She was completely relaxed, her eyebrows were curved, her eyes were slightly raised, and she was incredibly beautiful with her bright eyes and white teeth.

She possesses amazing skills, no wonder Director Ge spent so much money to get her.

Yu Jiu returned home happily, swaggering around without paying any attention to the pointing fingers and whispers of others.

"Do you think Xiao Lan and her two daughters were beaten by Xiao Jiu? Xiao Lan said yes, and if so, then she was too ruthless."

"Hey, didn't you hear that she and Yu Qili wanted to sell Xiaojiu? Even if they beat them up, they deserved it. What they did was inhuman. Xiaojiu is so sensible and beautiful. She could marry anyone she wanted. Why did she have to marry that old geezer? If it were me, I wouldn't be happy either."

"That's true. Xiaolan has always been a good person all these years. How could she suddenly become the villain when it comes to the child? I don't know what she was thinking."

Yu Jiu calmly walked through the crowd and went upstairs. Rather than caring about other people's opinions, she should care more about whether her shoes were clean.

"You dare come back! Did you steal the money and food coupons?! Hand them over right now! The neighbors even paid for our medical bills!"

Chang Xiaolan and the others returned quickly, each with bandages wrapped around their hands and heads, looking utterly miserable. There were other people in the room, and in front of outsiders, Chang Xiaolan dared not speak so harshly; she suppressed her anger and carefully chose her words.

"What money, what grain coupons? I don't know. Aren't you going to sell me to the factory director's family to enjoy a life of luxury? The factory director's family is so rich, why would I even look at your ugly face? If you were rich, would you sell me? Oh, not necessarily. You're all obsessed with money. You can never have too much money. Even if you had 10,000 in savings, you would still sell me."

"Sell me first, then sell Yu Qin and Yu Zhen, and then sell yourselves. You and Yu Qili can even be a couple, serving both men and women well. Brilliant, truly brilliant."

Yu Jiu stood at the door without going in. She clapped her hands with a half-smile, the clapping sound seeming to slap her in the face.

"You, you, you!"

Chang Xiaolan was so angry that she almost fainted again. Her broken hand trembled as she pointed at Yu Jiu, looking particularly pitiful. Several neighbors couldn't help but chime in to help.

"Xiao Jiu, even if your parents are wrong, it's still wrong of you to talk to them like that. Putting all that aside, they are your parents, they raised you with great difficulty, and you can't just point your finger at them and yell at them like that. She's only trying to do what's best for the family. Everyone has their difficulties these days. Your mother is the kindest person imaginable. If she hadn't been forced into this situation, she wouldn't have..."

Yu Jiu made a pause gesture and interrupted her with a smile.

“Aunt Hua, my mom said your family is the poorest. You have five sons and two daughters, and Uncle Bai is in poor health and takes medicine all year round. She feels sorry for you and said you have it tough. In our family, both she and my dad have jobs, but in your family, only one person has a job.”

"So my mom is planning to give you our sewing machine. With a sewing machine, it will be easier for you to sew clothes in the future, and maybe you can even use it to earn some extra money to ease the burden on the family. That way, you won't be so pitiful. When would be a convenient time to move it upstairs? How about now? I'll help you move it?"

"ah?"

Aunt Hua was stunned. What was going on?

"What are you doing now! When has Mom ever said anything like that! Those are our family's things, why should we give them to others!"

Yu Qin angrily cursed at Yu Jiu, her face contorted with rage.

Yu Jiu smiled reproachfully, her eyes crinkling.

"Hey, sis, that's not how it works. Mom is the head of the household, not you. What you say won't make a difference. We still have to ask Mom."

"Mom, do you agree to give the sewing machine to Aunt Hehua? Don't you always teach us to be kind, selfless, generous, and considerate of others?"

“You were willing to sell me to someone else for your cousin, and I was willing to marry a man in his fifties for you all. You are so kind and noble, you would never be willing to give up a small sewing machine, right? Only hypocritical and disgusting people would do that, only sacrificing others and not their own interests, but you are definitely not like that.”

"Look, Aunt Hua was just praising your kindness."
