Chapter 11 The Soul-Returning Needle Technique (1/2)

Since successfully borrowing those precious review materials, Lin Jin embarked on a period of exceptional diligence and hard work. Every morning, as the first rays of sunlight streamed through the window, she was already seated at her desk, completely absorbed in the ocean of knowledge. During the day, she meticulously studied every page of the textbook, taking careful notes, leaving no key point or difficult section untouched. And when night fell and all was quiet, it was time for her to enter her mysterious space to cultivate her inner energy.

This space seemed like a secluded sanctuary, free from the noise and distractions of the outside world. Lin Jin focused intently on circulating her internal energy, practicing the techniques she had learned again and again. Sweat soaked her clothes, but she never slacked off. And so, day after day, she persevered relentlessly.

Hard work pays off. After a full month of relentless effort, Lin Jin finally achieved a major breakthrough—she successfully broke through to the fourth level of the Banquet Return Technique! At that moment, a powerful force surged from her body, giving her an unprecedented sense of exhilaration. However, her joy did not stop Lin Jin from moving forward; she knew that even higher goals awaited her to conquer.

Taking advantage of her newly broken through to the fourth level of cultivation, Lin Jin eagerly took out her treasured medical book from her bosom. This book recorded countless miraculous medical techniques, among which the Soul-Returning Needle was the most profound and unfathomable. She carefully opened the pages, her eyes eagerly scanning the lines of text, secretly pondering, "With my current level of skill, am I able to begin practicing this legendary Soul-Returning Needle?" As she opened the book, she found that her understanding of the medical text had deepened considerably. The parts that were previously obscure and difficult to understand now seemed to have a sudden clarity. She also gained a basic understanding of the Soul-Returning Needle technique.

The most important aspects of the Soul-Returning Needle Technique are the hand speed and internal strength of the person performing the needlework, while the Feast Return Skill mainly trains internal strength. As for hand speed, Lin Jin had already mastered it.

Lin Jin decided to try practicing the Soul-Returning Needle technique. Following the order of acupuncture points recorded in the medical book, she first mentally simulated the needling process several times. Then, she took out a spare silver needle, took a deep breath, and slowly channeled her inner energy into the needle. With a slight movement of her fingers, the silver needle swiftly pierced the acupuncture points on the prepared doll, so fast that only afterimages remained.

However, her first attempt was not without its flaws. The pressure or angle of a few needles was slightly off, causing the flow of spiritual energy on the doll's surface to be uneven. But Lin Jin was not discouraged. She calmed herself, recalled the feeling of applying the needles, and carefully analyzed the mistakes based on the path of her internal energy.

After some adjustments, the acupuncture was performed again. This time, the silver needles accurately pierced each acupoint. As the last needle fell, a soft light emanated from the puppet, indicating that the Soul-Returning Acupuncture Technique was initially successful. Lin Jin's eyes were filled with excitement; she knew she was one step closer to success.

After a long day, Lin Jin wanted to cook something nice. There were plenty of vegetables, more than she could finish, and there was also meat. So she made white rice, stir-fried pork with green peppers, stir-fried vegetables, and a soup. Her hands moved faster than her brain, and the meal was ready in no time. After eating her fill, Lin Jin walked around the yard for a while, her mind filled with thoughts.

With the college entrance exam fast approaching and earning money becoming increasingly urgent, it's difficult to make a living through medicine these days because most Chinese people don't have much trust in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). This isn't entirely their fault; there are too many fake TCM practitioners, and people have been scammed too many times. It's also true that TCM isn't as fast-acting as Western medicine, and most people believe in seeing is believing, focusing only on solving their immediate problems without worrying about potential long-term consequences.

Lin Jin has actually studied Western medicine for many years; while not exceptionally skilled, he is quite capable. Unfortunately, his age and lack of formal education are significant disadvantages. This path is blocked.

“Selling medicinal herbs won’t work. Although there are many medicinal herbs on the mountain, they are all common herbs. How many herbs would I have to collect by myself to get rich!”
