Chapter 46 The Gift (2/2)

The gift for her younger brother, Qin Ming, was a beautifully crafted radio. Lin Jin had specially chosen it for him because Qin Ming is still in school and will face the important challenge of the college entrance examination next year. To help her brother learn English better, Lin Jin also bought some English videotapes.

When Qin Ming saw the gifts his sister had given him, he was initially very excited, his face beaming with joy. However, when he learned that the videotapes were all about English learning, his smile vanished instantly, like a deflated balloon. Nevertheless, Qin Ming politely said to his sister, "Thank you, sister!"

At this moment, Qin Ming's godmother immediately chimed in, saying earnestly, "You should learn from your sister! Look at her, she's the top scorer in the province, and she got into a top university like Tsinghua University. If you could get into a university, I'd be overjoyed!" His godfather chimed in, "Your mother is right. You should learn from your sister and stop thinking about making money all the time. These are things your mother and I should worry about. You just need to focus on your studies."

The family sat together, exchanging carefully prepared gifts, the room filled with laughter. Lin Jin looked at this heartwarming scene, her heart overflowing with happiness and contentment. She felt that being able to spend such time with her family was her most precious treasure.

After the meal, Lin Jin still had to go for Chief Li's follow-up appointment. After more than a month of treatment, Lin Jin no longer needed to go to give him acupuncture every day; once a week was enough. He was still taking his medication, and Chief Li could now walk. Sometimes he could even go for a stroll outside, but the weather was too cold for him to go out.

Soon, Li Yanjun took Lin Jin to Chief Li's house. No one was home today, only a nanny. Chief Li was reading in his study, so Li Yanjun took Lin Jin directly there. She was very happy to see Lin Jin and quickly asked someone to pour tea. Then she took out a sandalwood box from the study and said, "This is a gift from your grandfather. Please take it!"

Lin Jin was a little confused. Looking at Li Yanjun, Li Yanjun quickly said, "Take what your grandfather gave you. I came here yesterday specifically to tell my father this good news! My father was also very happy and specifically told me to take good care of you from now on!"

Lin Jin accepted the gift. Chief Li said, "Open it and see if you like it." Inside the box was a small, exquisite white jade Guanyin statue. The Guanyin's face was benevolent, the lines smooth, and the jade warm and delicate, gleaming with a soft luster. Lin Jin was slightly taken aback, then her eyes filled with surprise and gratitude. She quickly said, "Grandpa, this gift is too precious. I like it very much. Thank you, Grandpa." Chief Li smiled and waved his hand, "It's good that you like it. This child is sensible and capable; she deserves this gift."

Next, Lin Jin began her follow-up examination of Chief Li. She carefully took his pulse, checked his complexion, and inquired about his daily health. After the examination, Lin Jin smiled with satisfaction and said, "Grandpa, you're recovering very well. With a little more rest, you'll be fully recovered." Chief Li laughed heartily, "Thanks to you, my little miracle doctor! I feel better every day." Lin Jin then performed acupuncture on Chief Li, her technique skillful and precise. After the acupuncture, Chief Li felt much better and his spirits lifted. The family chatted for a while longer before Lin Jin bid farewell to Li Yanjun and left.
