Hearing Su Ran's words, the saleswoman named Qianqian seemed somewhat reluctant. She slowly turned around, glancing back several times as she walked towards the counter. Reaching the counter, she stopped, glared fiercely at Lin Jin standing beside her, and shouted angrily, "Hey, give me the money and tickets right now! I can only go get your car after I have these!" With that, she crossed her arms and stood there sulking, waiting. Lin Jin wasn't going to tolerate her!
Lin Jin shouted angrily, "What's going on with you, comrade?! I came all this way with money to buy goods, and you not only ignore me, but I haven't even seen the goods yet, and you expect me to hand over the money and receipts first? Is this the rule set by your mall?"
After being reprimanded by Lin Jin, the saleswoman noticed the many onlookers pointing and whispering around her, and instantly blushed with embarrassment. She opened her mouth, about to retort, when Su Ran spoke up first: "Qianqian, if your work attitude continues like this, then I'll have to report the situation to your supervisor."
Upon hearing this, Qianqian's previously deflated spirit, which had been poised for a heated argument, instantly deflated like a punctured balloon. With her head drooping, she mumbled in a voice barely louder than a mosquito's hum, "Alright, alright, then show me the car purchase ticket first, and I'll come and get the car for you right away."
Lin Jin took out the train ticket and handed it to Qianqian. After taking it, Qianqian turned and walked towards the warehouse. Su Ran said apologetically to Lin Jin, "Dr. Lin, I'm really sorry. Qianqian is spoiled by her family and is usually quite willful." Lin Jin wanted to complain to the mall manager, but she was afraid of delaying her return home, so she didn't say anything after hearing Su Ran's apology. She just said to Su Ran, "I'll let it go this time, but I won't be so good-natured next time."
Not long after, she slowly pushed a brand-new, gleaming bicycle over. She then returned the bicycle to Lin Jin, saying, "Here! Check it yourself. Make sure you check it carefully, so you don't end up saying you bought a defective one!"
Lin Jin stepped forward, squatted down, and began to carefully inspect the bicycle. He first checked if the wheels turned smoothly, then inspected the braking system for responsiveness and reliability. Next, he stood up and gently patted the seat and handlebars, assessing their comfort and stability. After this meticulous inspection, Lin Jin nodded in satisfaction, indicating that there were no problems. He then readily paid the money and turned to leave.
Just then, Su Ran, who had been standing to the side, suddenly spoke up, "Um... Dr. Lin, I wonder if you have time? I'd like to invite you to dinner, is that alright? Last time I left in such a hurry that I didn't get a chance to properly thank you!" Before he finished speaking, Qianqian anxiously interrupted, "Oh dear, Brother Su, didn't you come here specifically to see me today? I haven't even finished get off work yet, how can you just leave me here alone like this!" As she spoke, Qianqian pouted, looking at Su Ran with a face full of grievance.
Lin Jin didn't want to get involved with him, so she said, "You left some money for medical expenses when you left, so we're even." After saying that, Lin Jin pushed her bicycle out of the mall. Su Ran wanted to say something, but Qianqian pulled her back, "If you keep this up, I'll go home and tell my godmother you bullied me. And who knows if she deliberately approached you? She looks so young, what medical skills could she possibly have? She's definitely lying to you; maybe that snake wasn't even poisonous." Su Ran didn't want to say these things to Wu Qianqian in public, so she simply said, "My business is none of your concern," and left the mall without looking back. Wu Qianqian was furious, cursing Lin Jin incessantly.
When Su Ran came out of the mall, Lin Jin was nowhere to be seen.
Lin Jin took the bus back to town, then rode her bicycle back to the village. Just as she reached the village entrance, she encountered villagers returning from work. Everyone curiously surrounded her, asking, "My goodness, that's a bicycle! Lin, you're amazing! How much did it cost? Where did you buy it?" "Is it comfortable to ride?" Lin Jin answered all their questions, then said goodbye to the villagers and returned to her small courtyard. Exhausted from the day, Lin Jin just wanted to rest. She ate a light dinner, took a shower, and went straight to sleep. She slept soundly through the night.
