Chapter Ninety-Six: The Dinner Incident (1/2)

After entering the room, Lin Jin soon curled up on the bed like a docile kitten and drifted into a sweet dream. Time passed quietly until Xiao Hong gently knocked on the door and tenderly called her to have dinner. Only then did Lin Jin open her eyes as if waking from a dream.

She stretched, then quickly got out of bed, washed up briefly, and hurried downstairs to the dining room.

When she entered the restaurant, she saw that many people were already sitting around the table, and a sumptuous meal was neatly arranged on the table, emitting an enticing aroma.

With a smile on his face, Grandpa Yu waved to Lin Jin from afar and called out affectionately, "Jin girl, come here quickly and sit next to Grandpa."

Lin Jin quickened her pace to the dining table and obediently sat down next to Grandpa Yu. Grandpa Yu looked at her with delight, his eyes filled with affection, and asked with concern, "Jin'er, are you exhausted today?" Before he finished speaking, he picked up the serving chopsticks, took a piece of delicious-looking spare rib, and carefully placed it in Lin Jin's bowl.

Seeing this, Lin Jin felt a surge of warmth in her heart. Her eyebrows curved into a sweet smile, like spring flowers in bloom, and she said softly, "Thank you, Grandpa!"

Grandpa Yu nodded in satisfaction, then turned to everyone and said, "Alright, everyone, don't be shy, let's eat!" As soon as he finished speaking, everyone picked up their chopsticks and began to enjoy the delicious dinner.

Yu Wan stared intently at Old Master Yu, his kind face now appearing to her as hypocritical and pretentious. A burning hatred raged within her, threatening to consume her entirely. However, she forcefully suppressed her inner turmoil, refusing to let her emotions show.

Her hands gripped the chair tightly under the table, her fingers turning slightly white from the force. Despite the turmoil within, she maintained a gentle smile and said softly, "Jin-mei, I'm so sorry about what happened earlier. I lost my temper. It was all because of Mom; I couldn't control my emotions for a moment. I'm really sorry. Can you forgive me?"

At this moment, everyone at the table turned their gaze to Lin Jin, seemingly awaiting her response. Lin Jin smiled slightly, a smile as bright and captivating as spring flowers in bloom. Her tone was gentle and warm, like a spring breeze softly brushing past everyone's ears: "Sister, what are you saying? I know you're feeling bad; if I were in your shoes, I'd probably feel the same way. So, how could I blame you?"

Yu Wan was completely taken aback that Lin Jin would forgive her so easily, which surprised her. However, her smile grew even brighter, as radiant as a flower blooming in spring. She quickly said, "Sister Jin, you are so kind. I am truly ashamed."

Just then, Grandpa Yu suddenly spoke up: "Alright, alright, we're all family, let's not dwell on the past, let's eat our food." Hearing this, the somewhat awkward group snapped out of their daze, picked up their chopsticks again, and continued to enjoy the food on the table.

However, the tranquility at the dinner table didn't last long. Yu Wan suddenly put down her chopsticks, revealing a half-smile, and said sweetly to Lin Jin, "Jin-meimei, I heard that your boyfriend is Brother Moze, is that true?"

Seeing this, Lin Jin was somewhat displeased, but she didn't want to hide the truth, since Yu Zhenzhen already knew. So, she nodded without changing her expression and answered frankly, "That's right, Gong Moze is my boyfriend."

Yu Wan seemed to have expected this answer. She covered her mouth and let out a silvery laugh, then said with feigned surprise, "Oh my! Auntie, you see, Brother Moze is going to become your son-in-law in the end! Back then, you really wanted to marry Sister Yunlu to Brother Moze!"

Yu Wan's words were like a pebble thrown into a calm lake, instantly creating ripples. The originally relaxed and pleasant atmosphere suddenly became somewhat subtle, and everyone's eyes fell on Yu Zhenzhen.

Yu Zhenzhen's expression changed slightly, clearly showing some unease. She coughed lightly, trying to cover her awkwardness, then chuckled dryly and said, "Hehe, that's all in the past. What's the point of bringing it up now?"

Lin Jin, however, remained calm and smiled as she said, "Relationships are all about fate, and my relationship with Gong Moze was a natural progression."
