Chapter Sixty-Nine: You're Famous Now (2/2)

Looking at Jin Yuanyuan's somewhat stubborn expression, Lin Jin frowned and continued to ask, "What about the school? You can't keep taking leave from school, can you?"

Jin Yuanyuan bit her lip, seemingly trying to suppress her unease, and then said, "I've already asked the school for leave. I'll go back to school after Grandma gets better."

Seeing Jin Yuanyuan's hesitant expression, Lin Jin understood her gratitude, but the most important thing right now was her grandmother's condition. So, Lin Jin gently patted Jin Yuanyuan's shoulder and comforted her, "Alright, don't be so formal, we're friends. Hurry up and go to the pharmacy to get the medicine for Grandma, so she can get better sooner."

Jin Yuanyuan looked at Lin Jin gratefully, tears welling in her eyes. She nodded vigorously, her voice slightly choked, and said, "Xiao Jin, thank you so much. You've been so good to me, not only helping my grandma with her medical treatment but also willing to take care of her for me. I don't know how to repay you..."

Lin Jin quickly interrupted Jin Yuanyuan, smiling as she said, "Alright, what are you saying! It's only right for friends to help each other. Go get your medicine, I'll stay home with Grandma!"

Jin Yuanyuan looked at Lin Jin with tears of gratitude, her heart filled with emotion and warmth. She took a deep breath, composed herself, then turned and quickly walked out of the house, hopped on her bicycle, and sped towards the pharmacy.

Lin Jin went into Grandma Jin's room again. Grandma Jin was not asleep; she was still lying on the bed, staring at the ceiling, seemingly lost in thought.

Seeing Lin Jin enter, she quickly turned her gaze to Lin Jin and said:

"Child, please sit down. I can't get up right now, so please don't be shy! Where's Yuanyuan? This child doesn't even know how to entertain you!"

Lin Jin sat down in the chair and said, "Grandma, Yuanyuan went to get your medicine. Yuanyuan and I are classmates, so you don't need to be so polite with me!"

Grandma Jin's gaze fell on Lin Jin, her weathered face revealing deep helplessness and sorrow. She sighed softly, her voice trembling slightly as she said, "It's all because of this old woman that Yuanyuan is in this mess. You're her classmate, so I'm not afraid you'll laugh at me. Yuanyuan has such a hard life, born into our Jin family and having such biased parents."

Grandma Jin's words were filled with heartache for Yuanyuan and self-reproach. She continued, "Fortunately, the child is determined and worked hard to get into university. But who would have thought that my old bones would collapse at this time?" As she said this, Grandma Jin's eyes welled up with tears, which swirled around the corners of her wrinkled eyes.

She paused briefly before continuing, "I'm so worried. I'm afraid that after I'm gone, no one will be able to protect this child." Grandma Jin's voice grew increasingly low, as if every word carried the weight of her heart.

Seeing Grandma Jin so sad, Lin Jin felt a pang of sympathy. He wasn't good at comforting people, and now he felt even more helpless. After hesitating for a moment, he finally spoke, "Grandma, don't worry too much. You'll get better. As long as you take your medicine on time, you'll definitely be fine in a few days."

Lin Jin tried to comfort Grandma Jin with an optimistic tone, and then he said, "Besides, Yuanyuan is so outstanding, and now she's a student at Tsinghua University. Finding a job in the future will definitely not be a problem. Don't worry, just rest well and take good care of your health. If you fall ill, Yuanyuan will be very sad."
