Chapter Sixty: The Man Behind the Scenes (2/2)

However, at that moment, the woman suddenly screamed, "You two, stop right there!"

The sudden shout made Lin Jin's heart skip a beat, and she immediately realized who the woman was. However, Lin Jin did not impulsively rush out to expose her, but decided to remain still and see what this woman was up to.

Hearing the woman's cry, the two thugs stopped in their tracks and turned around impatiently. Seeing this, the woman quickly stepped forward, waving to them in a low voice. The two thugs, though somewhat reluctant, slowly returned.

The woman walked up to them, looked around to make sure no one was watching, and then lowered her voice to say to the two thugs, "Add another ten dollars. As long as you keep an eye on her, there will be more benefits later."

Upon hearing this, the two thugs' eyes lit up. They exchanged glances and then nodded in unison, indicating their agreement. Seeing this, the woman's lips curled into a barely perceptible smile. She then gave them a few more instructions, making sure they fully understood the task, before hurriedly turning and leaving.

After the woman left, Lin Jin floated out of the space like a ghost and stood silently behind the two thugs.

Her sudden appearance caught the two thugs off guard. They heard her say softly, "Hi! We meet again."

Although the sound wasn't loud, it was like a thunderclap in the quiet environment, startling the two thugs so much that they trembled and turned around in a panic. When they saw that the person standing behind them was Lin Jin, they were even more frightened that their legs went weak and they almost fell to the ground.

However, despite their extreme fear, their mouths seemed to be under a spell, and they involuntarily exclaimed, "Grandma, what brings you here!"

Lin Jin did not answer immediately, but looked at them with a half-smile that sent chills down their spines.

Stared at by Lin Jin, the two thugs felt their scalps tingle and their bodies tremble with unease. One of them finally mustered his courage and said, forcing himself to remain calm, "Grandma, what are your orders?" As he spoke, he hurriedly handed the money he had just snatched from the woman to Lin Jin. Seeing this, the other thug also quickly took out his share of the money and handed it to Lin Jin as well.

However, Lin Jin didn't seem interested in the money at all. She didn't even glance at it, and simply said, "You two, from now on, go and keep an eye on her for me, understand?"

The two thugs exchanged bewildered glances, clearly confused by Lin Jin's request. They didn't understand why Lin Jin wanted them to monitor that woman, especially since it wasn't an easy task for them.

Seeing this, Lin Jin's lips curled into a cold smile, and she said, "What, you're unwilling?"

Upon hearing Lin Jin's words, the two thugs nodded repeatedly, saying, "Yes, yes, Grandma!" However, they then looked troubled and stammered, "But...but Grandma, we really don't know who she is!"

Upon hearing this, Lin Jin's lips curled up slightly, revealing a chilling smile. Her voice, seemingly emanating from the deepest hell, carried a hint of coldness: "I know who she is!"

This simple sentence struck the two thugs like a heavy hammer, making them tremble with fear. They didn't dare to lift their heads, afraid of meeting Lin Jin's gaze.

Seeing this, Lin Jin nodded in satisfaction and continued, "If this matter is handled well, you will naturally receive your share of the benefits." With that, she took out a slip of paper from her bosom, put it in the hands of the thugs, and then turned and left, leaving the two thugs looking at each other, not knowing what to do.
