Chapter Thirty-Eight: Rewards (2/2)

"Then it's settled!" Lin Jin said with a smile.

Then Chen Xiaoyan added, "Then you should hurry up and pack your things, we should go too!"

Lin Jin nodded, carefully put the notification letter into her spatial storage, and then began packing her luggage.

Actually, she didn't have much to pack. She only planned to bring some clothes; she didn't want anything else. She'd buy new things in Beijing, since she was very wealthy now! She decided to buy her own house in Beijing; she didn't plan to live in the dorms!

The next day, Lin Jin prepared a table full of dishes. Everyone from the educated youth office came, including Wu Shuangshuang, who had previously had a conflict with Lin Jin. She obediently followed behind Chen Xiaoyan. Seeing Lin Jin looking at her, she quickly stepped forward and said in a low voice, "Dr. Lin, I'm sorry about what happened before. I hope you can forgive me..." Lin Jin looked at her. Apart from saying a few unpleasant things that time, Wu Shuangshuang hadn't provoked her since. She wasn't a petty person, so she smiled and said, "Since you're here, sit down and eat!"

Everyone chatted and laughed, and the meal was quickly finished. Suddenly, a commotion erupted outside. It turned out a village child had accidentally fallen into the pond while playing, and the situation was critical. Hearing the commotion, Lin Jin immediately put down her chopsticks and rushed out. Reaching the pond, she saw the child unconscious, his face turning bluish-purple. Lin Jin quickly went to him, first clearing any foreign objects from the child's mouth and nose, then performing CPR. Her movements were skillful, each compression and breath precise and accurate. The other educated youth helped, some going to notify the child's family, others maintaining order at the scene. After a tense rescue effort, the child finally coughed up some water and slowly opened his eyes. When the child's family arrived, they thanked Lin Jin profusely. This scene deepened the educated youth's respect for Lin Jin, and Wu Shuangshuang secretly resolved to correct her temper in the future. Once everything was settled, everyone returned inside to continue chatting. Looking at everyone, Lin Jin was filled with emotion. Although she had experienced conflicts and unpleasantness here, she had also gained much warmth and friendship. She was even more excited about her upcoming trip to Beijing.

Lin Jin bought a train ticket for two days later. She gave away everything in the courtyard that she could, and left the rest in the courtyard.

Two days passed quickly, and Lin Jin finally embarked on her journey to Beijing. Gong Moze arrived early and waited for her at the gate of Lin Jin's courtyard. Lin Jin didn't stand on ceremony; she and Gong Moze had known each other for so long that they were practically friends!

Gong Moze often visited her, and the village aunties all said that Captain Gong definitely liked her. Lin Jin had never been in love in her past life, and she had never been in love in this one, so she didn't know what it felt like to like someone. In the car, Gong Moze started the car, and Lin Jin sat in the passenger seat. She looked at Gong Moze's profile, and Lin Jin felt inexplicably flustered. She looked away, gazing out the window, trying to calm herself down. Gong Moze seemed to notice her unusual behavior and asked softly, "What's wrong? Are you nervous about going to Beijing?" Lin Jin quickly shook her head, "No, I'm just a little excited."

The two chatted casually along the way. As they neared the station, Gong Moze suddenly said, "Lin Jin, if you encounter any difficulties in Beijing, be sure to contact me." Lin Jin felt a warmth in her heart and nodded.

At the station, Gong Moze helped Lin Jin with her luggage and escorted her to the platform. Just as the train was about to depart, Gong Moze suddenly grabbed Lin Jin's hand, his eyes sincere: "Lin Jin, actually I..." Before he could finish, the train whistled and started moving. Lin Jin had no choice but to pull her hand away and say loudly, "Let's talk again another time!"

As the train slowly pulled out of the station, Lin Jin watched Gong Moze's figure gradually shrink on the platform and felt a pang of sadness in her heart.

Lin Jin was startled by her own reaction. Could it be that she also had feelings for him?

Oh well, let it be. We'll see if we run into each other again!
