Chapter Thirty-Seven: The Yu Family of Beijing (2/2)

"Yes," Gong Moze answered readily! "What a coincidence! You wouldn't have any designs on that young girl, would you? We soldiers can't be lewd. The girl is young and doesn't understand these things. You're a soldier; you can't make a mistake that violates principles!"

Seeing Chief Yu's serious expression, Gong Moze quickly said, "Chief, Chief, you've misunderstood. Chief Fu specifically instructed me to take care of Lin Jin, which is why I came back with her. I've remained completely within my bounds the entire way, and have absolutely no intention or action of overstepping any boundaries."

Upon hearing this, Chief Yu's expression softened somewhat. "Yes, I was just reminding you. This Dr. Lin has excellent medical skills. He helped us save Dr. Wang here, and he also helped Chief Fu a lot in Suzhou."

Gong Moze nodded and said, "Chief, Lin Jin is indeed a highly skilled doctor, and also kind-hearted."

Chief Yu crossed his arms, looked thoughtfully at Gong Moze, and slowly said, "Chief Fu said that Dr. Lin is not his parents' biological child. Are you aware of this?"

Gong Moze's heart skipped a beat. He recalled his previous conversation with Lin Jin and replied, "Chief, I have indeed heard about the fact that Lin Jin is not a child of the Lin family. It seems that her return to her hometown this time is to investigate this matter."

Chief Yu frowned deeply, clearly surprised by the news. He remained silent for a moment before pressing further, "So, what were the results of her investigation?"

Gong Moze shook his head. "I don't know the specifics yet, I only know that her mother's surname is Yu."

"Yu?" Chief Yu's voice suddenly rose eight octaves, and an expression of disbelief appeared on his face. "They actually share the same surname as me? Is there really such a coincidence in this world?"

A strange feeling welled up in Chief Yu's heart. He couldn't help but wonder if there was some unknown secret hidden here. After all, the probability of having the same surname was extremely low, and Lin Jin's background was so mysterious. Could all of this be just a coincidence?

He smiled, waved gently at Gong Moze, and said in a relaxed tone, "Alright, it's nothing. You should go back and rest!"

Upon seeing this, Gong Moze immediately stood up straight, gave Commander Yu a standard military salute, and then turned and walked out of the office with steady steps.

However, the moment Gong Moze left, a hint of worry appeared on Chief Yu's face. He couldn't help but think of Lin Jin, wondering to himself: Would Lin Jin's identity bring her any trouble?

Although Commander Yu did not voice his concerns, as an experienced veteran, he remained highly vigilant and skeptical of everything. Coincidences like this, in particular, aroused his suspicion.

Although a detailed investigation of Lin Jin's identity had been conducted previously and no abnormalities were found, Chief Yu still decided to secretly investigate Lin Jin's background again to ensure that nothing went wrong.

He arranged for reliable people to go to Suzhou to learn more details from Lin Jin's adoptive parents, and also asked his old subordinates in Beijing to keep an eye on the Yu family's situation.

After returning to Baiyang Brigade, Lin Jin continued to focus on her medical research and treating the villagers. She would also make a trip to the black market every few days!

Two weeks later, on a sunny day with a gentle breeze, the quiet village was suddenly filled with the roar of a car engine. A black sedan slowly drove into the village and eventually stopped in front of the courtyard where Lin Jin lived.

Hearing the noise, Lin Jin curiously came out of the house to investigate. She saw the captain standing beside the vehicle, a broad smile on his face. Several men in Zhongshan suits, all looking quite energetic, got out of the vehicle.

As soon as the brigade leader saw Lin Jin, he quickly stepped forward to greet him and introduced him warmly: "Director Jiang, Deputy Director Qin, this is Dr. Lin Jin! He's a big celebrity in our village. He's an educated youth who came from Suzhou to work in the countryside, and his medical skills are superb!"

Looking at these unfamiliar faces, Lin Jin was filled with doubt. He asked, puzzled, "Captain, who are these people?"

At this moment, one of the middle-aged men wearing glasses quickly stepped forward and said with a smile, "Dr. Lin, hello! I am the deputy director of admissions at Tsinghua University. I came here specifically to deliver your admission notice."

Just then, another person quickly introduced himself: "I am the director of the county education bureau! I have come here today specifically to present Lin Jin with a special reward!"

Upon hearing this, Lin Jin was overjoyed and immediately invited them to sit down in the courtyard so they could have a detailed discussion.

Meanwhile, a large crowd had already gathered at the entrance to watch the spectacle. When they heard the good news that Lin Jin had been admitted to Tsinghua University, they all smiled with joy and congratulated him.

However, one person in the crowd stood out from the rest—Tian Guixiang. She stared intently at Lin Jin with a venomous gaze, as if filled with endless hatred for him.

However, Lin Jin didn't notice anything unusual about Tian Guixiang. He was only focused on thanking everyone and then led the group into the courtyard.
