Chapter Thirty: The Resumption of the College Entrance Examination (1/2)

Time flies like an arrow, and after a long wait, Lin Jin finally received the exhilarating news—the resumption of the college entrance examination. This good news was personally told to her by Gong Moze. Since successfully curing Dr. Wang, Gong Moze had frequently made the arduous journey to visit Lin Jin at the Baiyang Brigade. Not only that, sometimes even Commander Yu would accompany him. Even Commander Fu, far away in Suzhou, maintained frequent contact with Lin Jin by phone and occasionally sent her items. In return, the kind and thoughtful Lin Jin would carefully prepare some health-preserving pills and mail them to Commander Fu.

Upon learning this momentous news, Lin Jin did not hesitate to register for the college entrance examination. In the days that followed, she stayed at home single-mindedly to prepare for the exam.

Meanwhile, at the educated youth's place, there were several others who also longed to take the college entrance examination to change their fate. Hearing that Lin Jin possessed many valuable study materials and books, they all borrowed them from her. They helped each other, made progress together, and occasionally gathered to have lively discussions about various difficult problems and knowledge points.

Knowing that Lin Jin was going to take the college entrance exam, the villagers hadn't bothered her during this time. Lin Jin was very touched; the villagers were still quite kind. She worried that if she left the village, access to medical care would become another problem! But that wasn't something she, as an outsider, could solve!

Although the villagers don't bother Lin Jin, there are always some clueless people who keep wandering around in front of her.

In order to live a more comfortable life, Tian Guixiang from the educated youth office married Liu Yaowen, the son of the brigade accountant. These days, she keeps going to Lin Jin's courtyard. Yesterday she said she had no appetite, and today she said she had a stomachache and a headache.

Lin Jin took her pulse and said, "You're not sick, no need for medicine." Tian Guixiang immediately objected, shouting, "Do you even know how to diagnose? My stomach hurts, and you say I'm not sick? I think you haven't learned how to diagnose properly. You're trying to act like a doctor! You might kill me!"

It was midday, and the sun beat down fiercely on the earth, making even the air seem somewhat thick. A cacophony of noise drifted from the village lanes, and a small courtyard was hidden in the shade of the trees beside the road.

Suddenly, a sharp cry shattered the tranquility. Passersby were drawn by the unexpected sound, stopping in their tracks and peering curiously into the courtyard.

"I heard there's a doctor who can treat illnesses living in this courtyard, so why is she screaming so pitifully?" someone in the crowd muttered quietly.

Amidst the murmurs, everyone gradually heard the words coming from the courtyard—someone was questioning Lin Jin's medical skills. This was alarming; upon hearing this, everyone quickened their pace and entered the courtyard, eager to find out what was going on.

Lin Jin was standing there with a serious expression, and he said to the patient in front of him without any politeness, "My medical skills are not good enough to treat your illness. You should find someone else!" After saying that, he didn't even raise his head, but turned around and walked to the other people who had just entered the courtyard, and greeted them warmly.

The patient who was rejected was Tian Guixiang. She obviously wanted to say something to try to salvage the situation, but Lin Jin didn't give her the chance at all. He ignored her completely and was only concerned with talking to the new people who came in, as if he completely treated Tian Guixiang as if she were invisible.

Tian Guixiang's face flushed red with anger, her heart filled with indignation. She had intended to tell the other villagers about the treatment she had received here, to let them know that Lin Jin's medical skills weren't as amazing as rumored. However, seeing the scene before her, she found herself unable to get a word in edgewise, and could only stand there, sulking.

Tian Guixiang looked at Lin Jin, who was surrounded by the crowd, with a sinister gaze, and then muttered in a voice only she could hear: Lin Jin, you just wait! Since marrying into Accountant Liu's family, no one has dared to ignore her like this.

Lin Jin knew perfectly well that the village women had all come to her with good intentions, wanting to help her solve her problems! After all, Accountant Liu was no pushover; he was petty and narrow-minded. His wife, in particular, was incredibly shrewish and domineering. If she were to have a direct confrontation with her daughter-in-law, given Accountant Liu's vengeful nature, who knew how he would try to sabotage her behind her back!
