Aunt Zhang pursed her lips, muttered under her breath, and walked away.
Upon arriving at her aunt's house, little Qi excitedly ran out to greet Lin Jin. Little Qi grabbed Lin Jin's hand, chattering incessantly. Lin Jin smiled and patted her head. Lin Jin then took out all the things she had brought for her aunt: cloth, malted milk powder, and brown sugar. Yang Taohua stared in astonishment at the sheer number of things Lin Jin had brought out, her mouth agape for a long moment before she could utter a sound.
"Jin'er, why are you buying all this stuff? It's not easy for you living in the countryside. Your uncle and I have everything we need! Just keep the money!" Lin Jin was still taking things out and putting them on the table. She said with a smile, "Auntie, you know that after Grandpa and Grandma passed away, only you and Uncle have been the best to me. I truly consider Xiaoqi and Xiaotao as my younger siblings. Isn't it normal for me to buy you some things?"
Sigh... Yang Taohua sighed and said: You are a good child. I don't know what your older brother and sister-in-law are thinking. They are biased towards you!
Lin Jin smiled but didn't say anything. Yang Taohua continued, "Jin girl, how long are you planning to stay this time?"
Auntie, I'll go pay my respects to Grandpa and Grandma tomorrow and then go back home! I only took a week off.
The journey there and back took so much time! Yang Taohua nodded, then asked Lin Qi to accompany Lin Jin to play, while she went to buy some things and went out!
A short while later, Uncle Lin Jianmin returned with Lin Tao! Lin Jin walked out of the house. When Uncle saw Lin Jin, a surprised smile appeared on his face: "Jin'er, we've been waiting for you to come back." Lin Jin smiled and went to greet him: "Uncle, I came back to see you." Lin Tao also ran over and took Lin Jin's hand: "Sister, did you bring me anything delicious?" Lin Jin pinched his nose: "Of course I did, I'll give it to you in a bit."
Just then, Yang Taohua returned carrying a large piece of meat and some vegetables. "We're going to treat Jin'er to a nice meal today," Yang Taohua said with a smile. The family then began preparing dinner in a lively atmosphere.
During the meal, everyone sat together, and the table was laden with a sumptuous spread. Her uncle served Lin Jin food, saying, "Jin'er, eat more. Don't neglect yourself while you're away." Lin Jin felt a warm glow in her heart and nodded repeatedly.
After dinner, Lin Jin and her younger sister, Xiao Qi, sat in the courtyard chatting, gazing at the starry sky and reminiscing about their childhood. Lin Jin thought that this simple yet warm rural life was perhaps what the original owner had always longed for. After paying respects to her grandparents tomorrow, she could carry this warmth with her and let the original owner leave in peace.
