Chapter Twenty-Five: Detoxification (1/2)

When they finally emerged from the deep, dark cave, they discovered that a fine drizzle had begun to fall outside. The raindrops gently tapped on the ground and the surrounding vegetation, producing a crisp, continuous sound.

At this moment, everyone looked at each other, a sense of unease rising in their hearts. They all knew that choosing to descend the mountain in such rainy weather would undoubtedly expose them to numerous potential dangers. Slippery mountain paths, rushing streams, and the possibility of landslides—all these factors would make the descent exceptionally difficult and perilous.

However, staying on the mountain to wait for the rain to stop is also fraught with danger. After all, the mountain environment is unpredictable, and no one can guarantee that no unexpected situations will arise during this time. Moreover, as night falls, the dark forest becomes even more filled with the unknown and fear.

Just as everyone was hesitating, Lin Jin stepped forward and said, "I think we should go down the mountain and return as soon as possible. Although the journey is arduous, as long as we quicken our pace and stay alert, we might be able to reach the foot of the mountain before dark while it's still early." His words were firm and powerful, as if instilling courage and confidence in the others.

Despite some lingering unease, after a brief discussion, they decided to take Lin Jin's advice. So, they packed their belongings, took a deep breath, and resolutely embarked on the challenging descent. No one knew what difficulties and dangers awaited them on the journey ahead.

Soon the group arrived at the camp. The people left behind at the camp saw them return and their faces lit up with bright smiles as they quickly gathered around them.

Looking at their radiant and spirited appearance, Gong Moze couldn't help but feel a surge of curiosity. He couldn't resist asking, "Hasn't it rained here?"

Upon hearing this, the group exchanged glances, clearly puzzled by their captain's question. One of the team members replied suspiciously, "Isn't it obvious? Look at the ground; apart from some snow, it doesn't look like it's rained at all! Captain, did you get the stuff?"

Gong Moze nodded, and the man grinned! He then turned and went to pack his things!

Hearing this, the other companions felt a great weight lifted from their hearts. However, none of them said anything, simply listening silently. Then, Gong Moze waved his hand and methodically gave the order: "Alright, everyone, quickly pack your things, we're getting ready to go down the mountain!"

Then, he inquired about the condition of several wounded soldiers. The wounded soldiers all said they were fine and praised the medicine provided by Lin Jin. They exclaimed, "Dr. Lin's medicine is truly wonderful! Not only is it highly effective, but it also works incredibly quickly! In just a few hours, the wounds that were previously unbearably painful have completely stopped hurting!"

Upon hearing this, Lin Jin smiled and stepped forward, carefully examining each of the wounded soldiers again. Just as they themselves had said, most of the wounds had scabbed over, and walking was no problem at all. However, just in case, if anyone truly couldn't walk, everyone could take turns carrying them.

The team members quickly and efficiently organized their belongings and then began their descent down the mountain. They followed the same path they had taken up, and the return journey was significantly easier than the arduous and disorienting ascent. Along the way, everyone appeared relaxed, occasionally exchanging a few words and sharing their experiences and observations from the trip.

However, although the journey was relatively flat, there were still some rugged and difficult sections. Whenever this happened, the considerate Gong Moze would take the heavy load Lin Jin was carrying and carry it on his own shoulder. In this way, Lin Jin's burden was greatly reduced, and her steps became much lighter.

And so, the mountain path that had taken them a whole day to traverse yesterday was covered in just four hours on the way down today. By the time they finally reached the foot of the mountain, it was already completely dark! They had been transported there by helicopter.

Gong Moze whistled, and soon two people emerged from the darkness, their faces obscured. The person opposite him said, "The night road is difficult to walk on, why don't you come to my house and rest?"
