Watching the remaining wolves flee in disarray, Gong Moze snapped out of his daze. He suddenly realized that the two team members who had just bravely protected Lin Jin had also joined the fight. Thinking of this, he was filled with rage and immediately summoned the two men, sternly reprimanding them, "How could you act so recklessly? Disobeying orders? What if something happened to Dr. Lin? Can you bear the responsibility?" However, when he saw that Lin Jin was unharmed, his anger subsided slightly. But he was still furious, glaring at the two team members and shouting, "What are you all standing there for? Get to cleaning up the battlefield! Dr. Lin, please take care of the injured team members here!"
After a thorough inspection, six people were found to be injured. Two had been scratched on the arms by a ferocious wolf, bleeding profusely; the other four had been bitten on the legs, but fortunately, the wounds were not too deep. Lin Jin quickly took out alcohol from her first-aid kit and gently and carefully disinfected each wound to prevent the spread of infection. Next, she skillfully opened a medicine bottle, gently applied ointment to the wounds, and carefully bandaged them. Finally, she selected a few antibiotics from her personal medications and handed them to the injured, instructing them, "Take these medications on time; they will help you recover faster."
Under Lin Jin's methodical treatment, all the wounded were properly treated. Once everything was settled, everyone looked up and saw that the sky was beginning to lighten, the dawn was quietly spreading across the earth, and a new day was about to begin.
After quickly eating some dry rations and resting briefly, the group began discussing their next steps. Lin Jin walked lightly to Gong Moze's side and said in a low voice, "Those team members who were injured last night are really not in good physical condition to continue traveling after all this exertion. Why don't we let them stay here and rest until we return? Besides, judging from the current situation, we are quite close to the summit. Do you think it would be better to leave a few team members here to look after them?"
Gong Moze nodded slightly, pondered for a moment, and then replied, "Hmm, what you said makes sense. Alright, I'll take care of this matter." With that, he turned and walked towards the group, his gaze quickly sweeping over everyone, before selecting six thoughtful individuals to stay behind and take care of the wounded.
After everything was arranged, the remaining nine people, including Lin Jin and Gong Moze, regrouped and set off again towards the towering peak of Baishan Mountain. Along the way, Gong Moze always led the way, carefully scouting the path ahead with his large sword, just in case any potential dangers arose. Lin Jin, following behind, was equally busy; her bright eyes scanned the surrounding grass and trees like a scanner, promptly storing any useful herbs she found into her spatial storage. Thus, the group moved slowly forward in a tense but orderly atmosphere, gradually approaching the mysterious summit… Just as they were about to reach the top, the temperature suddenly dropped, and the previously bright sky turned gray. Gong Moze looked up at the sky and said, “Dr. Lin, we need to quicken our pace. It might rain. There’s a cave ahead; let’s go in and take shelter.”
The group quickly reached the cave entrance. Just as they were about to enter, Lin Jin stopped them. "Wait, something strange is going on in this cave." The group looked at her suspiciously. She crouched down to examine the vegetation around the entrance, her brow furrowed. "There's a kind of grass here called 'Soul-Losing Grass.' This grass usually grows in places with extremely heavy yin energy. If we enter rashly, we might encounter misfortune." Gong Moze's expression turned serious. "What should we do? It looks like it's about to rain." Lin Jin pondered for a moment, then took out some realgar powder from her backpack and sprinkled it on everyone. "This realgar powder can temporarily ward off the yin energy in the cave, but everyone should still be careful." Then, the group cautiously entered the cave. Not long after entering, they heard a chilling howl, followed by a swarm of bats attacking them. Lin Jin quickly took out several homemade herbal fans from her bag and distributed them. Gong Moze was puzzled; just how big was Lin Jin's bag? How could it have everything? But he didn't ask. "Everyone wave your fans; the scent of these herbs will scare away the bats." Everyone did as she said, and sure enough, the bats scattered. At that moment, a faint light appeared from the depths of the cave. The group exchanged glances and decided to explore towards the light.
As they approached the end of the cave, which appeared to be a cliff, one of the team members tried to run over to check, but Gong Moze grabbed him. Lin Jin also became alert, as a foul, fishy smell kept wafting up from below the cliff.
If there were wild animals, Lin Jin would be able to sense them, but since Lin Jin didn't sense any, they probably weren't wild animals!
Gong Moze only stopped his teammates because he smelled the fishy stench.
They exchanged glances, understanding the reason, and immediately ordered a retreat! The group quickly retreated, but it was too late. A large, snow-white snake lunged at them, then stopped about 50 meters away, looked at them, and quickly retreated. The group looked at each other, wondering what the snake meant.
Lin Jin spoke up, saying, "There must be some Orchid Star Grass here. This snake is guarding it. Seeing we hadn't found it, it retreated. It won't harm us unnecessarily. Let's rest here for a while!"
Gong Moze touched his nose and said, "I thought the snake didn't attack us because it smelled the realgar on us!"
One of the team members asked Lin Jin curiously:
"Dr. Lin, how can we obtain the medicinal herbs?"
The other team members chimed in, "This snake is guarding us. We'll know as soon as we get close. We haven't even seen the medicinal herb yet, and it'll drive us away! What if it angers us and eats us?!"
Lin Jin replied without hesitation: Yes!
