Zhou Hongying readily agreed: "Okay."
"Then I'll go home first."
As soon as Ran Jinnian arrived at her doorstep, she bumped into Lu Jinyuan who was coming out: "What are you doing?"
“I came out to look for you because I saw you hadn’t returned yet.” Lu Jinyuan took her hand.
“I was just teaching Daya how to do her homework. Sister-in-law Zhou is going to town to buy things tomorrow, so I asked her to bring me some fatty meat.”
The two talked as they went back into the house.
Ran Jinnian then had time to open the bag, which contained bowls of various sizes, pots, a large bucket, two large basins, and a small basin.
There were also two bolts of cloth, vegetable seeds, and some other odds and ends.
"I'll pack it up." Lu Jinyuan quickly and efficiently put everything away.
He couldn't stay still, so he picked up the vegetable seeds again: "I'm going to order these vegetables."
When he's at home, he wants to do more so his wife can do less.
“Let’s go together.” Ran Jinnian accompanied him.
"You sit here and watch me do it."
Lu Jinyuan brought her a stool to sit on.
Ran Jinnian couldn't persuade him otherwise, so she sat on the stool and gave instructions: "Plant Chinese cabbage on both sides, carrots in the middle, garlic sprouts and scallions in the corner."
Lu Jinyuan didn't object at all; he did whatever his wife said.
"Honey, we're going to plant cowpeas and green beans too. You can build some trellises here when we do."
"We also need to raise chickens."
"We also need to get a big water tank, so we won't have to carry water every day."
Hearing his wife repeatedly use the word "we," Lu Jinyuan's hardened face softened a bit.
By the time he finished planting the vegetables, it was already pitch black.
The young couple closed the door.
"Oh, right." Ran Jinnian then remembered that the head of the military district's primary school had come to visit her today.
Lu Jinyuan brought over hot water: "Wife, it's time to wash your feet."
Ran Jinnian put her feet in the basin, and Lu Jinyuan squatted down and massaged her feet.
Ran Jinnian told him about it: "Honey, do you think I'm ungrateful?"
Lu Jinyuan never expected that his wife would be asked to be a teacher by the head of the primary school as soon as she arrived at the military region.
He was secretly very proud: "Honey, if you don't want to be a teacher, then you don't have to. Your most important thing now is to give birth to our child safely."
"This is my plan: I'll look for a job after the baby is born and starts daycare." Ran Jinnian wasn't in a hurry.
Lu Jinyuan wiped her feet, very confidently saying, "With your high level of education, you can find any job you want."
"That's not necessarily true." Ran Jin thought about how the college entrance examination would be reinstated in a few years, and things would be different then.
After Lu Jinyuan finished washing up, the two of them crawled into bed.
Ran Jinnian took out a silkworm quilt from her spatial storage. She had good things in her space, so she couldn't let herself suffer.
The blanket was light and warm, which Ran Jinnian liked very much, and Lu Jinyuan slept very comfortably as well.
Ran Jinnian nudged him again: "I recommended someone to Director Chen, my good friend Xiao Haili, do you remember her?"
"Xiao Haili?"
Lu Jinyuan seemed to have only met her once. In his memory, she was his wife's good friend and was a quiet and reserved person.
"Could you send her a telegram for me tomorrow?" Ran Jin thought it would be wonderful if her friend could come.
Lu Jinyuan pulled his wife into his arms: "Okay."
Ran Jinnian was still excitedly talking when she suddenly realized something was wrong. She slapped his hand away and said, "What are you doing?"
"Wife, I..."
"Don't even think about it, go to sleep."
"......."
With his wife heavily pregnant, Lu Jinyuan had no interest in that kind of thing; he just wanted to touch her.
Ran Jinnian turned around again: "Honey, we haven't had any prenatal education tonight."
