Chapter 31 First Time Staying at a Guesthouse (1/2)

Yu Xiuzhi felt particularly happy when she heard everyone laughing at her.

What's the use of Ran Jin's high academic qualifications? What can she possibly perform with a group of ignorant women?

Her prepared performance will definitely be able to go on stage.

After getting off work, Lu Jinyuan met Lin Beixiao and Song Mingyi at the gate of the military region.

The two looked at him with a hint of pity.

"If you have something to say, say it. If not, I'm going home." Lu Jinyuan didn't want to delay his journey home.

The two exchanged a glance, and Song Mingyi spoke up: "Jinyuan, I heard that your sister-in-law will be performing at the family members' event this Mid-Autumn Festival Gala."

"She doesn't perform."

Lu Jinyuan's brow bones were sharp like swords, adding a touch of depth to his face.

"She wrote some script and is going to perform a play." Song Mingyi curled his lip, thinking that Lu Jinyuan's wife was a bit arrogant.

A stage play!

Even the performing arts troupe couldn't pull it off.

A few women are enough to put on a show.

“Jinyuan, my sister is in the provincial drama troupe. Acting in a play is not an easy thing. My sister practiced hard for several years before she could perform on stage.”

Lin Beixiao was genuinely trying to persuade him; he didn't want his good brother to lose face because of his wife.

"Actually, it doesn't have to be a stage play; singing some folk songs would also be fine," Song Mingyi suggested.

Lu Jinyuan frowned slightly and glanced at the two of them indifferently.

"Whatever my wife does, she can do it if she wants to."

His voice was as solid as a shield, protecting his wife from everything.

Song Mingyi!!!

Lin Beixiao!!!

This guy is a total wife-protecting fanatic.

"Jinyuan..." The two wanted to say something more.

"My wife is still waiting for me at home, so I'm leaving now."

Lu Jinyuan left after he finished speaking.

"Ever since he got married, this guy doesn't care about us brothers anymore." Song Mingyi felt a pang of sadness.

Lin Beixiao sighed, "His wife is the most important person in his heart."

When Lu Jinyuan returned home, Ran Jinnian had already packed her things: "Honey, everything is ready."

"Let's go." Lu Jinyuan slung the large basket over his shoulder.

The young couple locked the courtyard gate.

The main gate of the military region.

A jeep was parked at the entrance.

The man was around fifty years old, with thick eyebrows, a square face, and a resolute expression; one could tell at a glance that he had weathered many storms.

Liu Guosheng looked up and saw the young couple walking towards him.

The young man had a stern face, but when his gaze fell on his wife, the corners of his mouth turned up slightly, revealing a hint of tenderness.

The woman's eyes shone brightly when she looked at him.

Liu Guosheng watched with great interest.

He never expected that Commander Lu, who was usually cold and aloof, would have such a gentle side.

This is truly a case of turning steel into silk.

"Chief of Staff Liu." Lu Jinyuan stepped forward with his wife, his voice booming, "This is my wife, Ran Jinnian."

Ran Jinnian greeted him generously: "Hello, Chief of Staff Liu."

"Come on up." Liu Guosheng chuckled. His wife was so beautiful; no wonder this guy didn't fancy a military beauty.

The young couple got into the car and sat in the back seat.

"Jinyuan's wife, are you about to give birth?"

Liu Guosheng's concern was like that of an elder towards a younger generation.

"Soon, after National Day," Ran Jinnian replied.

"It's a good day. The little guy really knows how to pick a day."

National Day is a big day for the country.

Ran Jinnian smiled and said, "The little guy sees that his father is a soldier and wants to inherit his father's style."

Liu Guosheng's eyes lit up; Lu Jinyuan's wife knew how to talk.

“Jinyuan’s wife, you’ve been to school, haven’t you?”
