Chapter 50 Raising Chickens (2/2)

Ran Jinnian returned home, threw her clothes into the washing machine in her spatial dimension, and went to the yard to pick vegetables.

In the yard, a batch of green vegetables has already grown.

Ran Jinnian was thinking about raising chicks and planned to do the same as everyone else, using a bamboo fence to prevent the chicks from destroying the vegetable garden.

"Wow."

When the little guy saw that his mother was ignoring him, he burst into tears.

Ran Jinnian had no choice but to put down her work, pick up the little guy, and point to the vegetable garden, saying, "An'an, look, this is our family's vegetable garden. Soon there will be chicks again, and when you grow up you can collect eggs. Then Mommy will raise a few ducks, okay?"

"He's so young, what can he understand?"

Seeing Ran Jinnian holding her child and muttering to herself, Zhou Hongying next door couldn't help but laugh.

Ran Jinnian has been reading parenting books every day lately. Of course, she doesn't just read everything in the books; she only chooses what she thinks is right.

"The child is developing now, so talk to him more to broaden his mind."

Zhou Hongying was completely bewildered: "Brain surgery? What happened to An'an's head?"

Ran Jinnian: "..."

"No, sister-in-law, it's about developing the child's brain and promoting his development." Ran Jinnian didn't know how to explain for a moment.

Zhou Hongying doesn't share these ideas. Her thoughts on having three children reflect the prevailing sentiments of this era: "The children are still young. They just eat and sleep all day long. You don't need to worry about them."

Ran Jinnian just smiled and didn't reply: "Sister-in-law, I'm changing An'an's diaper."

“This child drinks milk every day, but he urinates a lot.” Zhou Hongying didn’t think much of it.

Ran Jinnian took An'an back to the house, took out Vitamin AD from her spatial storage, and fed the little guy one.

She found this in a book. She searched online for a while and found Vitamin AD, which says it can be taken by children aged 0 to 1 year.

She feeds An'an one every day.

The little guy wanted more after eating, so Ran Jinnian tapped his nose and said, "Alright, let's look at the black and white cards."

Ran Jinnian learned this from a book; it's called visual training.

She picked up a black and white card, holding it about thirty centimeters from An'an's eyes: "An'an, look, there are little dogs and little bunnies on this."

She showed him four or five cards, spending ten seconds on each one, and then finished after a minute.

The little guy fell asleep again soon after watching it.

"Xiaoran, Xiaoran."

Feng Chunlian's voice rang out.

Ran Jinnian immediately went outside and saw Feng Chunlian carrying a basket containing four chicks.

The chicks were only treated with the ointment a couple of days ago, and their whole bodies are still a creamy yellow color.

"They just ate some broken rice, give them some water later." Feng Chunlian grabbed the four chicks.

Ran Jinnian was a little flustered. As soon as she put the chicks in the yard, they started running around everywhere.

"Sister-in-law, here's one dollar and two jiao. Count it for me." Ran Jin read out one dollar and two jiao to Feng Chunlian.

Feng Chunlian counted them and smiled broadly: "That's right, then I'll be going now."

"Take care, sister-in-law."

Ran Jinnian closed the courtyard gate, and when she turned around, she saw four little chicks frolicking around.

She took out a basin and put some green vegetable leaves in it. Then she put the four chicks in, and they immediately started pecking at the vegetable leaves.

After the chicks finished eating the vegetable leaves, they tried to climb out of the pot. They tried for a while but couldn't get out, then they started to get sleepy and finally huddled together to sleep.

Ran Jinnian carried the basin into the house.

She ate lunch and then took a nap.

Inside the room, one adult, one child, and four chicks were all fast asleep.
