Chapter 90 New Year's Eve (2/2)

"Jin Nian, these are egg dumplings made by my family."

"These are my family's crispy peanuts."

Before long, many of the women came to the door, each bringing food they had made themselves.

Ran Jinnian naturally wanted to reciprocate, so she made eight-treasure porridge, which was both auspicious and not over the top.

"Jin Nian, Jin Nian."

Zhou Hongying brought in a bowl.

"Sister-in-law Zhou, what delicious food have you made? It smells so good." Ran Jinnian stepped forward.

"I made some stewed meat, you and your aunties can try it."

In this day and age, even families can't afford to eat much meat.

Zhou Hongying didn't make much stewed meat, so there wasn't much in the bowl; just enough to taste.

Ran Jinnian smiled and accepted it: "Your cooking skills must be excellent."

She poured the stewed meat into her own bowl, washed it, and then ladled a large bowl of spicy pig's trotter soup for Zhou Hongying: "Sister-in-law, this is a cured pig's trotter that my mother and the others brought. They don't have any."

She blinked.

"It smells wonderful." Zhou Hongying immediately understood: "Then I'll head back now."

She covered the bowl and hurried home.

Ran Jinnian cooked a few more dishes and packed them into a lunchbox. She also took two apples, cut them into pieces, put them in a basket, locked the yard, and went out the door.

Along the way.

Many people greeted her.

"Xiao Ran, let's go to the hospital."

"Um."

"How is Commander Lu doing now?"

"Much better."

"Does that mean you'll be discharged soon?"

"It depends on the situation."

As Ran Jinnian was speaking, Tan Shulan walked over with her child and bumped into her.

"Sister-in-law Tan."

“They’re all mute, call out to someone!” Tan Shulan nudged the child.

The two children called out, "Aunt Ran."

Ran Jinnian didn't have any candy on her, so she could only smile and say, "Next time you come to Aunt Ran's house, Aunt Ran will cook something delicious for you."

Tan Shulan leaned closer: "Have you heard?"

"What did you hear?"

“After Director Li reported Yu Xiuzhi’s rumors, her husband sent her back to her hometown as soon as he returned these past two days.”

"have no idea."

Ran Jinnian has been busy at the hospital lately.

Tan Shulan wanted to say something more.

"Sister-in-law Tan, I still have to go to the hospital, we'll talk next time." Ran Jinnian really had no interest in listening to Yu Xiuzhi's stories.

Tan Shulan was quite disappointed that she didn't get to talk about any gossip.

Hospital ward.

Song Mingyi and Lin Beixiao stood in front of the hospital bed, looking at the man lying on it.

Song Mingyi and Lin Beixiao went to the headquarters military region for training, but they encountered a flood.

Their studies had to be suspended, and they immediately set off with headquarters to fight the disaster.

The region they were heading to was different from Lu Jinyuan's.

Both of them were injured, though not as severely as Lu Jinyuan.

As soon as they returned and learned the news, they immediately came to the hospital to visit Lu Jinyuan.

"Goodness, your heroic deeds in this disaster relief effort have spread throughout the country. You deserve a first-class merit this time." Song Mingyi reached out to pat him, but seeing his expression, he silently withdrew his hand.

Lin Beixiao glared at him; this first-class merit was practically earned with his life.

Ran Jin arrived at the hospital and saw Wang Xiumei and Lu's mother holding An'an outside in the corridor.

She stepped forward: "Is someone here?"

Lu's mother spoke up: "Jin Yuan's comrades have arrived."

"How long have you been here?" Ran Jinnian didn't rush to go in.

"It's been a while."

Ran Jinnian then pushed open the door and went inside.

Hearing the noise, Lin Beixiao and Song Mingyi turned around and saw Ran Jinnian: "Sister-in-law."
