When Qin Gang got home, he went straight to the kitchen to find Hao Chunhua.
“I heard people outside talking about it, saying that Su Yue is back. Some kind-hearted military wives even reminded you, but you didn’t let them finish speaking. Is it really true?”
Hao Chunhua's hands, which had been lightly stirring the vegetables, suddenly stopped. She then slowly turned around, a hint of wariness in her eyes. "What's wrong? Is it wrong for me to stop people from finishing their sentences?"
Upon hearing this, Qin Gang couldn't help but roll his eyes. "What on earth are you thinking about?"
Hao Chunhua turned her face away and continued to stir-fry the vegetables absentmindedly, muttering to herself, "What are you thinking about? You're just thinking about the day I did something wrong and you sent me back to the village."
Her voice was low, tinged with grievance.
Qin Gang was so angry that his face turned red. He strode over, snatched the spatula from the pot, and deftly scooped the vegetables into a bowl. He glanced at the stove and, finding there was nothing left to cook, casually poured a ladle of water in.
He put his hands on his hips, stared intently at Hao Chunhua, and said in a serious tone, "Su Yue not only came back, but she also brought her and Fu Shen's child back. Do you understand what that means?"
Hao Chunhua was stunned, her face full of shock.
Qin Gang frowned. "Still don't understand what I mean? Let me put it more clearly. A few months ago, when you pushed Su Yue, she was already pregnant."
Hao Chunhua waved her hands frantically, her voice trembling slightly: "I didn't know she was pregnant, if I had known..."
Qin Gang suddenly flew into a rage and roared, "If you had known she was pregnant, you wouldn't have pushed her away, is that what you're trying to say?"
Hao Chunhua glanced timidly at the enraged Qin Gang, then slowly shut her mouth, daring not to utter another sound.
Qin Gang was trembling with anger and shouted, "You're already in your forties, yet you act like an immature child, pushing someone down and thinking you can get away with just crying?"
When Hao Chunhua heard that she was being described as so old, she retorted, "I'm not decades old at all, I'm only twenty-five."
Qin Gang suddenly felt a tightness in his chest, unable to go up or down. He pounded his chest a few times, his face turning bright red.
Seeing this, Hao Chunhua quickly reached out and grabbed his hand, anxiously saying, "Honey, why are you hitting yourself?"
Qin Gang shoved her away forcefully and said angrily, "You're unreasonable, you're beyond saving."
Hao Chunhua looked aggrieved and couldn't understand why Qin Gang was so angry. She muttered under her breath, "Didn't I not push Su Yue down? If I had pushed her down and she lost the baby, I could have just taken care of her during her postpartum period. She's still young, is she afraid she won't be able to have children? Besides, if it weren't for what she said that made me so angry, I wouldn't have pushed her. In this whole thing, she didn't do anything wrong..." She didn't finish her sentence.
Qin Gang had reached his limit. With a wave of his hand, he shouted at the top of his lungs, "Get out!"
The thunderous sound was so loud that it immediately attracted his two sons.
Qin Gang was so angry that his face turned ashen. He didn't even eat a bite of food before storming out of the house.
The two sons asked Hao Chunhua in confusion, "Mom, why did you make Dad angry again?"
Hao Chunhua angrily recounted what had happened: "How did I offend him? He did it himself..."
After hearing this, her two sons stared at her with wide eyes and incredulous expressions.
Hao Chunhua felt uneasy under his gaze and couldn't help but ask, "What's wrong?"
Hao Chunhua's eldest son said with a serious face, "Mom, Aunt Su is carrying a living person in her belly, not a pile of dung from the village cow. If Aunt Su's child is gone, do you think we will still have a good life? My dad's first thing to do is apologize to Uncle Fu and then apply for discharge from the army."
