Chapter 162 A Child's Crying Hurts Parents' Hearts (2/2)

Whether it was Su Yue's slip or she was too nervous, Ping An suddenly slid into the basin with a "plop".

Su Yue and Fu Shen panicked and frantically tried to pull Ping An out of the water. But no matter how fast they moved, Ping An still choked on the water and was quite frightened.

Ping An opened her little mouth and started crying loudly.

Since Ping An was born, he has never cried like this before. As Ping An's parents, hearing their son cry so heartbreakingly, their hearts ached as if they were being pricked by needles.

Fu Shen hurriedly dressed Ping An and put on a diaper, but Ping An still kept crying.

Su Yue felt guilty and sat to the side, tears silently streaming down her face.

"I'm sorry..." she said, her voice choked with emotion.

Fu Shen looked down at Ping An, who was crying loudly in his arms and whose face was red from crying, and then looked at Su Yue, who was sitting on the edge of the bed with her head down and silently shedding tears. For a moment, he didn't know who to comfort first.

He also knew that at this moment, he couldn't simply coax someone to stop crying immediately.

Wang Jingyi woke up from her afternoon nap and walked over here.

As she reached the door, she heard Ping An's hysterical crying coming from inside. This was the first time she had ever heard Ping An cry so loudly, except when she was in the delivery room.

She hurriedly knocked on the door and said anxiously, "Yueyue, what's wrong with Ping'an? Why is she crying so loudly?"

Fu Shen heard Wang Jingyi knocking on the door, glanced at Su Yue who was crying with her head down, and originally wanted to go out to open the door with Ping An in his arms.

Su Yue raised her hand to wipe away her tears. "I'll go open the door."

Upon opening the door, Wang Jingyi noticed Su Yue's red eyes and frowned, asking with concern, "Why are you crying too?"

Just as she was about to start overthinking, Su Yue sniffed and began to explain.

“Ping An just had diarrhea. Fu Shen and I were giving him a bath, but I couldn’t hold him properly, and he slipped into the tub and choked.”

As she spoke, her heart clenched with pain as she recalled the harrowing moment when Ping An had just been submerged in the basin.

She knew better than anyone how uncomfortable it was to choke on water, especially since Ping An was so young.

Upon hearing this, Wang Jingyi breathed a sigh of relief. She had thought that the couple had quarreled over something.

She reached out and took Su Yue's hand, patting it gently. "It's okay. There are always unexpected little accidents when raising children. You're not used to it yet. You'll get used to it after a few more times. Come on, let's come in and see Ping An."

Once inside, Wang Jingyi took Ping An from Fu Shen's arms, gently stroked his head, and soothed him tenderly, saying, "Ping An, don't cry, it's alright, it's alright."

Fu Shen walked to Su Yue's side, reached out and took her slightly cold hand, and said softly, "Ping An is crying non-stop, he's probably frightened. There's nothing wrong with his body, we just need to be more careful next time."

Su Yue looked up at him, her eyes reddening again, and muttered, "Being scared is also a problem. He's so young, we can't even imagine the fear he would feel if he were suddenly submerged in water."

Fu Shen was taken aback, and unconsciously tightened his grip on Su Yue's hand.

He stared blankly at Su Yue, and suddenly realized that she was remembering the pain of being submerged in water in her previous life.

Wang Jingyi carried Ping An around the yard for a while, then went back into the house. Ping An's crying gradually subsided.

While crying, Ping An fell asleep, her little nose still twitching as she slept.

Seeing this, Su Yue felt even more distressed. Her eyes reddened, and her voice was filled with deep self-reproach: "He was asleep, and he was crying in his dream. I am not a good mother."

She least wanted to see Ping An suffer any harm, but the first harm in his life was inflicted by her.
