Chapter 204 Long Time No See (1/2)

Fu Shen said, "Brigade Commander Xie has been through so much in the army for so many years, and he has seen all kinds of storms. His decision to retire this time is a last resort. The two brothers from the Tian family are clearly a ticking time bomb. If they go in, Brigade Commander Xie can't help them at all. When they come out, they will definitely hold a grudge against him and might do something that Brigade Commander Xie can't guard against. He probably thought of this and simply retired early to avoid ending up in a situation where he is disliked by both sides."

Su Yue frowned slightly, her tone tinged with regret: "So, what we did still affected him, but there's nothing we can do. After all, he married Tian Wenxiu."

Fu Shen looked at Su Yue, his eyes filled with emotion.

After Xie Songqing's incident, many leaders in the military sighed that marrying a wife is not something you can do just by finding any woman; you have to carefully examine her family and siblings to see if they have any major problems.

If she has too many flaws, then you absolutely cannot marry her—otherwise, everything you've worked so hard for could be gone in an instant.

Xie Songqing's application for discharge from the military was rejected without hesitation because he only wanted to escape when faced with problems instead of solving them.

But he was adamant about retiring, and the military leaders couldn't do anything about it, so they eventually approved his retirement.

After working hard for most of their lives, they receive no benefits after leaving the military, but at least retirement provides security in their old age.

Xie Songqing and Tian Wenxiu left the army quietly without causing much of a stir.

After all, this was all within everyone's expectations.

That day, after breakfast, Su Yue took Ping An to the zoo, while Fu Shen couldn't go because he had to go to work.

Upon arriving at the zoo, the two strolled around for a while, and then went into a dessert shop where they leisurely ate some food.

Su Yue looked tenderly at Ping An sitting opposite her and asked softly, "Ping An, where are we going later?"

Ping An took a small sip of milk, looked up, and said with clear and serious eyes, "The library."

Su Yue smiled helplessly, "...We're out having fun today, so let's put reading aside for now and think about where else we want to go?"

On weekdays, as soon as Ping An gets home from school, she goes to her room to read after dinner, and then comes out to take a shower and go to bed on time. Her daily routine is very regular, and she and Fu Shen don't need to urge her at all.

But seeing that Ping An was about to become a little bookworm, Su Yue had no choice but to take him out every week to explore things that children his age should play and see.

To her surprise, he was reluctant to come out each time she asked him to. Su Yue had no choice but to say to him in a pitiful tone, "Mom is so bored at home alone every day. I finally got to wait for your holiday and wanted to go out for a walk, but Dad has to work and is busy. I didn't expect you to not want to keep Mom company either. Mom is so lonely."

Only when this tactic is used will Ping An reluctantly agree.

Ping An looked at Su Yue seriously and said, "Let's go shopping, Mom. You should buy some new clothes too."

Su Yue smiled with relief: "Okay, then let's go to the mall to buy clothes."

She hasn't made new clothes in a long time since she left Bincheng.

She didn't like any of the clothes sold outside, but she especially loved the ones made by Zhang Lanhua.

Upon arriving at the mall, in front of a clothing store, Su Yue's eyes widened in disbelief as she stared at Qin Zhizhi, who was standing at the entrance enthusiastically showing off her clothes to female customers.

She couldn't believe her eyes, so she raised her hand and rubbed them hard, trying to confirm whether what she was seeing was an illusion.

When Ping An saw Su Yue suddenly stop and keep rubbing her eyes, she looked up and asked, "Mommy, what's wrong with your eyes?"

Su Yue lowered her hand, her gaze still fixed on Qin Zhizhi's direction, her voice tinged with excitement: "Mom saw a familiar face."

Ping An frowned in confusion, wondering why her mother kept rubbing her eyes after they met an acquaintance.
