Chapter 23 Su Yue and Jia Xinyue got into a fight, and both of them cried (1/2)

After Su Xiaomei left, Jiang's mother said, "Let's not think about the daughter of the leader of Huaidong anymore. Let's just live a good life with Su Xiaomei."

She's been thinking a lot these past few days, and she's really scared.

She didn't care about things like having a daughter-in-law whose father was a high-ranking official, or whether she could hold her head high in the village. She didn't want that kind of empty talk anymore.

All I want is for my family to be safe, healthy, and alive.

Jiang Huaidong's eyes were vicious. "How can I let it go? Fu Shen is fine and even got married. As for me, I was beaten half to death by the Red Guards and now I have to ruin my reputation by having a wedding banquet with Su Xiaomei. I'm not willing to accept this."

He's not half-dead, at most he'll just have external injuries.

If it weren't for the fact that Jiang's mother felt uneasy on her way to find the Red Guards...

After reporting it to the Red Guards, he desperately followed behind them and ran back.

Although it was a few minutes late, it saved Jiang Huaidong a lot of beatings.

Jiang's mother sighed, "What can I do if I'm not willing to accept this?"

Jiang Huaidong said, "You don't need to worry about that, I have my own plans."

"I'll keep the banquet with Su Xiaomei simple, then I'll be going back to my unit."

Upon hearing this, Jiang's mother asked, "You really don't plan to take Su Xiaomei with you to the army?"

Jiang Huaidong said, "She can take care of you at home. As for her joining the army, that's impossible in this lifetime."

He's going to be the son-in-law of a high-ranking official, so how could he possibly take Su Xiaomei with him to the military?

Jiang Huaidong is still dreaming of becoming the son-in-law of a high-ranking official.

Far away in Bincheng, Su Yue was in the kitchen, kneading dough with great effort.

It was all because Wang Renyi helped carry back the pot that Fu Shen had asked the logistics department to buy.

Seeing that there wasn't much firewood left at home, Wang Renyi called two soldiers to go to the back mountain to chop some.

Su Yue thought that since the other person had helped her chop wood, she should treat them to something.

The fruit in the room was all plump and not suitable for being taken out.

I went to the small commune and bought some glutinous rice flour, then fried a few pancakes about the size of the bottom of the pan.

When they come back, there will be food.

The kitchen was small, and Wang Renyi and his men went back and forth several times, piling up the firewood they had chopped in a corner of the yard.

Su Yue peeked out and estimated that there was enough fuel for her alone to burn for more than a month.

Wang Renyi and the two soldiers washed their hands and called out to the kitchen, "Sister-in-law, we're going back."

Even the aroma of the fragrant pastry is irresistible, making your mouth water.

Su Yue, a female comrade, was at home, and the three men didn't dare to enter the house.

Su Yue said, "Wait a moment."

As she spoke, Su Yue took out the fried flatbread and said, "One for each of you, thank you for helping me chop firewood."

Wang Renyi and the two soldiers exchanged a glance. Wang Renyi said, "Sister-in-law, we'll help you chop firewood, but you can't pay us. If Brother Fu finds out, he'll definitely scold us."

The two soldiers nodded in agreement, saying, "We can't accept it."

Su Yue said, "Take it. It's not worth much. I made it especially for you. If you don't eat it and it's hot, it will be a waste. I don't care if Fu Shen will say anything to you then."

Upon hearing this, Wang Renyi stepped forward, took the basin from Su Yue's hand, and distributed the cakes to the two soldiers.

After dividing the pieces, he took his own piece, took a bite, his eyes lit up, chewed a few more times quickly, and swallowed.

"Sister-in-law, the pancakes you made are delicious."

Unlike the cakes he had eaten before, made from tapioca flour and rice bran mixed together, this cake was soft, chewy, and slightly sweet.

Su Yue smiled. She made it entirely with glutinous rice flour and added white sugar.

How could it not taste good?

When Wang Renyi saw that the two soldiers were not eating, he said, "You're not eating because you want to take it back and share it with them, but then you won't get a single bite."

Upon hearing this, the two soldiers quickly put it in their mouths.

The first bite he took mirrored Wang Renyi's expression; he thought to himself: This is the last pancake they will ever eat.

After finishing their meal, Wang Renyi and two soldiers left.

Once outside, Wang Renyi said, "Don't tell those guys about us eating pancakes."

"Why?" the two soldiers asked.
