Chapter 26 Is she afraid of water? (2/2)

Yang Guohua paused for a moment, then laughed and said, "How eager must Wang Renyi be to break up with Jia Xinyue?"

"He must be thinking about it day and night."

Wang Jingyi thought of her two sons who lived far away in Beicheng and couldn't help but worry: "What if our sons find someone like Jia Xinyue in the future?"

After hearing this, Yang Guohua patted Wang Jingyi on the shoulder and comforted her, "Don't worry, our son won't be as careless as Wang Renyi. Go to sleep. Didn't you say you were going shopping with Xiao Su tomorrow?"

Wang Renyi knew that the female comrade who was pursuing him had previously pursued his comrade-in-arms, but had failed to win him over, so she turned to him instead.

For reasons unknown, he readily agreed.

After confiding her story, Wang Jingyi lay down on the bed and quickly fell asleep.

Yang Guohua listened to the soft snoring coming from beside him and shook his head helplessly.

The next day, Su Yue and Wang Jingyi arrived at the boat boarding point in Dongkou Village.

Looking at the water in the river, Su Yue couldn't help but feel nervous.

Once on the ship, the fear intensified.

She instinctively gripped Wang Jingyi's hand tightly.

Wang Jingyi frequently travels by boat and has become acquainted with many people in Dongkou Village.

The villagers of Dongkou Village also knew that the wives of soldiers from nearby troops would come to take the boat, and over time, they became familiar with each other.

As soon as Wang Jingyi boarded the ship, she started chatting with the people next to her.

She only looked at Su Yue when her hand started to hurt from being gripped so tightly.

"What's wrong? Why do you look so pale?"

Before Su Yue could answer, someone said, "She's probably seasick."

Su Yue stared down at the cabin, not daring to look outside, but an experienced person would immediately notice something amiss.

"The ship has only just set sail, how can you be seasick already? I think you're just feeling waterlogged."

Wang Jingyi asked in confusion, "What does 'dizziness' mean? Does it mean you're afraid of water?"

"They're afraid of water. Some of the young wives who married into our village are also afraid of water and dare not take a boat. They would rather take a slow oxcart."

"Su Yue, how about..."

Su Yue interrupted Wang Jingyi and said softly, "It's okay, you'll get used to it after a few more times."

Upon hearing Su Yue's words, the boatman chuckled and said, "This lady must also be a military wife. Don't worry, I've been driving boats for over ten years, and as long as no one is naughty, no one has ever fallen into the river."

"If you're scared, don't close your eyes or look at the water while on the boat. You'll be fine after a few rides."

For half an hour, Su Yue leaned on Wang Jingyi's shoulder, her eyes fixed on the deck, her mind on Fu Shen.

It felt like no time at all before the ship docked.

Once off the boat and onto land, Su Yue instantly felt the ground was soft and yielding.

After walking a few steps, the feeling gradually disappeared.

Seeing that Su Yue was walking normally again, Wang Jingyi said, "When we go back, we can take an oxcart. The oxcart is not as bumpy, but it is slow."

Just how slow is it?

You can get there by boat at 5:30, but by oxcart you won't get there until dark.

Su Yue shook her head: "I won't take the oxcart, I'll take the boat back."

She felt less afraid of deep water after taking a boat ride.

The boatman was right; as long as you don't move around too much on the boat, it's unlikely you'll fall into the river.

Thinking about it this way, what's there to be afraid of?

Since Su Yue herself said she wasn't afraid, Wang Jingyi didn't say anything more.

After all, traveling by boat is much more convenient than traveling by oxcart.

Thinking of how Su Yue had leaned on her shoulder like a well-behaved daughter, Wang Jingyi felt that her long-held dream of having a daughter had come true with Su Yue.

Wang Jingyi couldn't help but say, "If you really don't want to sit, don't force yourself. You can take turns sitting."
