"You discussed this in the study?"
Fu Shen shook his head. "He also said other things."
Su Yue knew that some things were confidential and Fu Shen wouldn't tell her, so she wisely stopped asking.
In the afternoon, Fu Shen took a nap and felt much better before going to find Yang Guohua.
At home, Su Yue carefully washed the sour plums, then picked up a rolling pin and crushed them, adding salt and chili powder, and mixing well.
As soon as Fu Shen returned with the documents, Su Yue presented him with a bowl of sour plums as if it were a treasure.
"Try it."
Fu Shen peeked out and saw that it was a sour plum.
He should have kept quiet until he saw the sour plums, at which point he immediately swallowed hard.
Su Yue smiled and picked one up with her chopsticks. "Come on, open your mouth."
Fu Shen looked at Su Yue tenderly and put the sour plum in his mouth.
Su Yue asked expectantly, "Is it delicious? Is it spicy?"
Fu Shen nodded as he chewed, "Delicious, just the right amount of spiciness."
Su Yue chuckled and picked up a piece, putting it in her mouth.
Suddenly, her entire face scrunched up from the sourness.
Seeing this, Fu Shen quickly put his hand to Su Yue's mouth, "Spit it out!"
Su Yue didn't vomit into Fu Shen's palm, but handed the bowl to Fu Shen and vomited on the flat ground in the yard.
She rinsed her mouth again before saying to Fu Shen, who was standing next to her, "It's so sour, can't you feel it at all?"
Fu Shen picked up another one and put it in his mouth to chew.
"It's not sour."
Su Yue watched as Fu Shen popped one piece of food into his mouth after another without even frowning. She was filled with admiration for him, but she also became increasingly worried about his health, wondering if there was something wrong with him.
For dinner, Fu Shen ate only white rice, with some sour plums as a side dish.
Su Yue's stir-fried vegetables tasted like lard, and Fu Shen felt nauseous after taking one bite.
Su Yue felt extremely distressed. She thought he just couldn't eat meat, but she didn't expect that if she added a little more oil to the stir-fried vegetables, he couldn't eat a single bite.
The next day, after a simple breakfast, Su Yue packed a set of clothes for herself and Fu Shen and headed to the dock in Dongkou Village.
Fu Shen packed some of the pickled plums that Su Yue had mixed in a bag, just in case he felt nauseous or had an upset stomach on the way.
The process of obtaining a marriage certificate is very simple. After showing their documents to the staff, the staff will hand them two application forms for voluntary marriage. After the two fill them out, they will hand them to the staff and receive their marriage certificate.
Su Yue carefully put the marriage certificate into the bag containing her clothes, but actually put it into her spatial storage.
By the time we arrived in the city, it was already noon.
Fu Shen had sour plums to keep him going throughout the journey, and there were no problems.
They ate at a state-run restaurant before going to the hospital for a checkup.
While the doctor was examining Fu Shen, Su Yue thought of the baby in her belly and also had a check-up done.
Fu Shen's test results will be available in two hours.
Su Yue's results came out relatively quickly. When the doctor called Su Yue's name, Fu Shen was taken aback.
He looked at Su Yue with concern in his eyes, "You weren't feeling well, why didn't you tell me?"
Su Yue went for her checkup while Fu Shen was in the examination room.
He didn't see it.
Su Yue smiled and said, "It's alright, let's go in together and hear what the doctor has to say."
After listening to the doctor's words, Su Yue remained calm, as if everything was within her expectations.
Fu Shen was different. He walked slowly to the bench outside the corridor and sat down, his face still showing shock and disbelief as he looked at Su Yue's stomach.
He has a child.
Soon, there will be someone in this world who is connected to him by blood.
Soon, he or she will be able to speak and call him "Dad".
...
As he thought about it, images from the past flooded his mind: how he, at such a young age, cooked for his family and washed their clothes in the kitchen.
The scenes of being beaten or scolded every day flashed before his eyes, and eventually, he left that home.
