Chapter 49 Arrival in the South City (1/2)

Wang Jingyi seemed to suddenly remember something and said "Oh".

"When Comrade Lao Yang told me that Jiang Huaidong was Yueyue's ex-fiancé, he didn't reveal a single detail."

Upon hearing this, Yang Guohua realized what it was all about and laughed heartily.

"Back then, Jiang Huaidong didn't come back with Fu Shen and the others. I thought that if I told them, it would seem like I was gossiping behind their backs, so I didn't. Even though I didn't tell them, you still know now, which shows that Comrade Wang's thinking ability is quite good."

Wang Jingyi gave him a reproachful look, "My thinking ability isn't very good. If Yueyue hadn't told me, I would still be in the dark."

Yang Guohua paused, "Did Yueyue tell you?"

Wang Jingyi picked up the cup, took a sip of water, and said, "She told me."

Yang Guohua looked at Wang Jingyi and saw that she looked natural and had no other emotions. He thought that Su Yue probably hadn't told Wang Jingyi the whole story clearly. He secretly breathed a sigh of relief.

Drugging someone is a very dishonorable act.

It's better not to say it if you can avoid it.

When Su Yue saw Fu Shen carrying a box in, she quickly went to greet him, saying, "It's full of books."

Fu Shen steadily placed the box on the stool. "Yes, all the textbooks from elementary and middle school are in there."

Su Yue picked up a Chinese textbook, gently turning the pages with her fingers, and casually glanced at it. "This book is quite new."

Fu Shen said with a slight smile, "These books all belong to Yang Yijing. He doesn't like reading, so every time he comes over for summer vacation, he brings the books over and doesn't take them back."

Su Yuewei looked at him curiously, "How did you know?"

Fu Shen stretched out his finger, first pointing to the books in the box, then to the one in Su Yue's hand, "On all the pages of the books, there is a big character 'Jing' written on them. When the two brothers come over, I will run into them in the morning. I have run with them for a while and we are familiar with each other. Yang Yijing will grumble that he doesn't like to read. When he leaves, he wants to leave the books here. He leaves them every summer vacation."

Su Yue: "If I don't bring my books home, what will I do in class without them?"

Fu Shen: "New books will be distributed in the new semester."

Su Yue nodded gently, thinking to herself that Wang Jingyi and the others wouldn't care if she didn't take the books back.

So that's how it is.

Fu Shen picked out a first-grade Chinese textbook and put it into the bag that Su Yue had packed.

After setting everything down, I went to boil water for a bath.

Su Yue looked at the book in her hand, read a few pages, then frowned slightly, feeling that she didn't recognize the words and didn't find it interesting.

I flipped through another book with numbers written on it; it must be a math textbook.

She could understand these simple addition and subtraction problems.

Humans are naturally sensitive to numbers. Even if you don't read or know how to read, you should understand money, right?

The old ladies in the village who exchange eggs for money, you never see them give a basket of eggs to someone else, they'd just take the wrong money.

Fu Shen boiled water and told Su Yue to take a bath.

After Su Yue finished washing up, she picked up the math book she had just used and sat down on the edge of the bed to study it intently.

As I read, my hands started itching, so I picked up a pen and started writing in the book.

After taking a shower, Fu Shen washed both of their clothes and hung them up to dry.

Upon entering the room, I saw Su Yue leaning against the headboard, holding a math book in her hand, muttering to herself, and writing something on the book.

He tiptoed closer and finally heard what Su Yue was muttering.

"7 + 12 = 19, 8 + 7 = 15, 27 - 18 = 9..."

Fu Shen raised an eyebrow and asked with a hint of inquiry, "Are you doing math problems?"

Su Yue smiled and handed the book to Fu Shen, "Can you help me check if my calculations are correct?"

Fu Shen took the book and began to read it carefully.

Su Yue asked anxiously, "Is there anything wrong with it?"

Fu Shen looked at Su Yue with a slight smile on his lips, "You didn't get any questions wrong, it's just that..." The numbers were barely decipherable, and he could guess what they meant.

Su Yue: "Just what?"

Fu Shen shook his head. "It's nothing, the calculation is quite good."

Su Yue took back the book and snorted, "Don't think I don't know what you're trying to say. You're saying that the numbers I wrote aren't pretty."

Fu Shen sat on the edge of the bed and said to Su Yue with a smile, "The numbers you wrote aren't pretty, but you got them all right."

Su Yue: "..."

She was right after all.

Never mind, soldiers are straightforward.
