Chapter 5 I'm not afraid, it's Jiang Huaidong who should be afraid (2/2)

The entrance to Jianghuai Dongjia was packed with people.

"Su Yue is here!" someone in the crowd shouted.

When everyone turned around and saw her coming, some felt sorry for her, while others laughed.

I feel sorry for her, she waited so long, but she wasn't destined to be an officer's wife.

They laughed at her for waiting so many years, only to have her military officer husband snatched away by someone else.

Su Yue ignored her and went straight inside.

Jiang's mother held Jiang Huaidong, who was lying on the ground, and cried out.

Village Party Secretary Tang Jianguo, Su Xiaomei, and Liu Meili all stood with their backs to the door, surrounding Jiang Huaidong.

Su Yue wondered, could Jiang Huaidong be dead?

The next second, Jiang Huaidong said in a lifeless voice, "Mother... I won't marry... Su Xiaomei."

The tone of his voice sounded very unwilling.

Su Yue: "..."

He's not dead? What a pity.

There wasn't a trace of blood on the spot where he was lying on the ground.

Liu Meili shouted, "You won't marry me now? But when your mother stopped the Red Guards from beating you, it wasn't like this at all! What, you want to back out? Fine, I'll go get them right now..."

Su Xiaomei felt a little flustered when she saw Su Yue.

Liu Meili was speaking enthusiastically when Su Xiaomei next to her pushed her, saying, "What are you doing, you brat? He doesn't agree to marry you, and you still want to help him?"

Su Xiaomei whispered, "Su Yue is here."

Upon hearing this, Liu Meili turned her head and said, "She's here... Oh, isn't it too late for her to show up at this time?"

She said that this wretched person was unlucky, losing his mother right after birth, and his father finally retired from the army with a sum of money.

Less than half a month later, it was swept away by the flood.

The engagement was arranged, and I've reached the legal age.

Her fiancé slept with someone else again. Fortunately, Xiaomei is lucky.

Su Yue sneered inwardly. In her previous life, when Jiang Huaidong was admitted to military academy, Liu Meili wanted to ruin her reputation so that Su Xiaomei would marry him.

Since they're all surnamed Su, it doesn't matter who she marries.

She had this motive when she was discovered by the village party secretary, Tang Jianguo.

I gave her a special warning, thinking that I had already given up on the idea.

It seems they've never changed their minds.

Speaking of Tang Jianguo, without him, she might not have lived to be eighteen in her previous life.

She starved to death by Liu Meili half a month after her father left.

Su Yue walked over and glanced at Jiang Huaidong.

It doesn't look serious, so why can't he get up from his bed?

Tang Jianguo frowned and looked carefully into Su Yue's eyes.

His eyes weren't red, he wasn't crying, and his expression was cold and indifferent, showing no sadness.

Seeing this, he felt relieved.

If Su Yue started crying, he wouldn't know what to do.

He couldn't protect his best friend's only child, and now the marriage arranged since childhood is over.

He felt deeply ashamed; he had let his brother down.

Seeing that Su Yue ignored her, Liu Meili was about to speak when Tang Jianguo glared at her fiercely.

He shut her up, preventing her from saying what she wanted to say.

Tang Jianguo looked at Su Yue, unsure of how to begin.

Su Yue pretended not to know anything and said, "Why did Brother Huaidong have to marry Su Xiaomei even after being beaten by the Red Guards?"

Tang Jianguo: "..."

How can a grown man explain this to a young girl?

Liu Meili quickly replied, "Ask Jiang Huaidong why he married my Xiaomei."

Thinking to herself, she knew she was just pretending to be stupid; she didn't believe Su Yue was unaware of what had happened when she arrived.

Like her mother who died young, she loved to play dumb.

Regardless of Liu Meili's thoughts, Su Yue actually asked Jiang Huaidong, "Why?"

Jiang Huaidong said, "I did not agree."

How could he possibly marry a village girl?

Liu Meili roared, "Jiang Huaidong, you're talking nonsense! You've slept with my daughter and you still want to not marry her? No way! Since the village secretary can't control you, I'll complain to your army and say you're having an affair."
