Fu Shen looked puzzled. "What's wrong?"
From the moment Tang Jianguo returned home, he stared intently at his face, his expression suggesting he had many questions but was holding back from asking them.
Just then, Zhao Xiulan called out, "Dinner's ready!"
Tang Jianguo stood up and gently placed his hand on Fu Shen's shoulder. "Let's go eat first."
One is surnamed Fu and the other Huo, and their hometowns are in the east and the south, respectively. They just look alike, so they probably have no relation.
After the meal, Tang Yunyun excitedly pulled Su Yue towards the yard, saying, "Su Yue, look, this is the Panax notoginseng I planted. My dad said it wouldn't survive, but now its leaves have already sprouted."
Su Yue looked curious and asked, "How did you know it was Panax notoginseng?"
Tang Yunyun: "That's what Nie Zhiqing said."
Su Yue said thoughtfully, "It seems like Nie Zhiqing knows everything."
Tang Yunyun nodded in agreement, "It's not like you know everything. You drew three different people on that letter, and the next day he knew what you were trying to say."
Nie Yuanbao was helping Zhao Xiulan tidy up the dishes and chopsticks in the kitchen. After washing his hands, he happened to hear Tang Yunyun say this.
He said somewhat embarrassedly, "I don't know everything either. If Comrade Tang hadn't told me roughly who the person drawn on the letter was, I really wouldn't have been able to guess."
Normally, he wouldn't pay much attention to what happened in the village, even if it was a major incident involving a death, he wouldn't even glance at it, let alone bother to find out.
Tang Yunyun laughed and joked, "Nie Zhiqing is too modest. When you solved the problem, I sent the letter to Su Yue, and you kept asking me every day if Su Yue had replied."
Nie Yuanbao looked somewhat uneasy. "...I want to know if the diagram I drew answers the question Comrade Su wanted to ask."
In his nineteen years of life, this was the first time he had ever seen someone write a letter with a drawing. He found it very novel and was eager to know if his drawing was correct.
Su Yue chuckled softly, her tone appreciative, "You answered correctly; Nie Zhiqing is very clever."
As she spoke, she looked at Tang Yunyun, her eyes full of smiles, "I'm starting to recognize words now, so I won't be drawing anymore."
I had originally planned to surprise Tang Yunyun by writing back, but telling her in person now feels good too.
Tang Yunyun's eyes widened in surprise. "Really? You've recognized a few characters already. Are you going to make me guess what you're writing? I won't be able to."
Su Yue said playfully, "If Fu Shen isn't around, there will probably be many words I won't be able to write."
Tang Yunyun exclaimed "Ah!" and turned to look at Nie Yuanbao, "I'll have to rely on you from now on."
Nie Yuanbao's lips curled up slightly. "The characters are easy to guess."
The three talked in the courtyard for a while longer before Nie Yuanbao left.
Su Yue entered the room and saw Fu Shen taking out their change of clothes and neatly placing them by the bed.
She sat down by the bed. "Huo Xueshen is no longer in the village. People from above secretly took him away."
Fu Shen's eyes narrowed. "How did you know?"
Su Yue: "Tang Yunyun said that someone came here looking for Uncle Tang in the middle of the night. Huo Xueshen borrowed a razor from Uncle Tang, shaved and cut his hair before leaving. Tang Yunyun didn't see Huo Xueshen's face after shaving, but Uncle Tang should have seen it."
I shaved and cut my hair.
Suddenly, Fu Shen remembered the way Tang Jianguo looked at him; it was clear that Tang Jianguo had figured something out.
Does he really look just like Huo Xueshen?
