Chapter 7 Why Didn't He Come Out to Save You? (2/2)

The military won't be able to trace it back to him. They can just say it's Fu Shen who has been hiding prohibited drugs all along.

In the army, the two lived in the same dormitory and had a very good relationship, like they were inseparable.

With villagers as witnesses, how could they not believe it?

Jiang's mother was terrified and clutched the hem of her clothes.

Just after we finished dealing with the brown sugar water issue, another person appeared who had drunk egg drop soup.

This soldier is not as easy to talk to as Su Xiaomei.

He will definitely tell you what he drank that made him faint.

What they will do for their military comrades then...

Tang Jianguo was the first to react, and asked with a puzzled look, "Comrade soldier, what are you doing in this room?"

He couldn't help but think to himself, how could a soldier not hear about such a big thing happening outside?

Did they drink something unclean too?

Fu Shen covered his head, frowning. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw Jiang Huaidong's nervous and frightened expression, and was about to speak.

Jiang Huaidong said urgently, "He is my comrade-in-arms, his name is Fu Shen."

After saying that, he stared intently at Fu Shen, thinking to himself that he absolutely could not let him reveal this matter.

Seeing Jiang Huaidong so nervous, Fu Shen sneered inwardly. He had no comrades who would kill him.

Tang Jianguo frowned and said with dissatisfaction, "Jiang Huaidong, why are you in such a hurry to answer? I asked why this soldier was inside the house, not whether he is your comrade-in-arms. Is there even a need to ask whether he is your comrade-in-arms? In our village, you are the only soldier. Anyone with eyes can see that he is your comrade-in-arms."

Upon hearing this, everyone began to discuss it.

"Yes, why doesn't Jiang Huaidong let the military comrades answer?"

"I can't believe it," a villager said, puzzled.

"Don't you think this sounds familiar? Su Xiaomei was only halfway through her sentence when Jiang Huaidong yelled at her to stop her from saying anything more."

Another villager chimed in.

"Could it be that he drank something too?" another villager guessed.

Hearing what everyone was saying, Jiang Huaidong turned his head and said angrily, "What nonsense are you talking about? Didn't I just say that the reason why Su Xiaomei and I had this incident was purely because of Su Yue's father? If there was a problem, why was Su Yue fine after drinking it?"

Su Yue: "..." Damn it, he used her and then his father.

Fu Shen suddenly lost his footing and leaned against the wall.

Everyone was taken aback when they saw this.

The person Jiang Huaidong had just criticized pointed at Fu Shen and said righteously, "Jiang Huaidong, look back yourself. How come the soldier is perfectly fine but can't even stand up straight, leaning against the wall, and constantly covering his head? You say there's no problem? Who would believe that?"

"Besides, soldiers are much more vigilant than ordinary people. Why couldn't he hear you and Su Xiaomei having an affair in the next room? And why didn't he come out to save you when you were beaten by the Red Guards?"

After speaking, the man looked at Jiang Huaidong provocatively.

Jiang Huaidong said angrily, "You..."

Tang Jianguo said, "Alright, everyone stop arguing. We'll just ask the soldiers."

Tang Jianguo stepped forward to help Fu Shen, and remembering a custom in the village, tentatively asked, "Comrade, where are you from? Is it because you drank egg soup that you..."

He didn't know if he had fainted or if he was in a situation like Su Xiaomei.

But this soldier was alone in the room and didn't know how to start the conversation.

Fu Shen glanced at Jiang Huaidong and said, "I'm from the next city, and I'm in the same unit as Jiang Huaidong. When we got back to the train station in your city, Jiang Huaidong suddenly said that he was coming back to get married and hold a banquet. He asked me to come back with him to the wedding banquet, but I didn't want to go. I haven't been home for several years. He said that it would be a simple banquet, with both families sitting together for a meal, and it wouldn't take up much time."

"I thought we usually got along quite well, so I should definitely attend my comrade's wedding. We arrived in the city late at night, and since there were no cars available, we stayed there for the night. The next day, at daybreak, we took a bus to town. When we arrived at Jiang Huaidong's house, he and Aunt Jiang talked for a while, and soon they made egg drop soup and offered it to me. I didn't want to drink it, but Jiang Huaidong said it was a custom in their village; usually, guests from afar are served egg drop soup. Later…"
