Chapter 73 It Still Feels Like Home Here (2/2)

It was already past 1 p.m., so instead of resting at the guesthouse, they had lunch and returned to the train station to wait quietly for their tickets to be checked and to board the train.

When they arrived in Bincheng, they didn't arrange for someone to pick them up in advance, and even if they had, Su Yue wouldn't have been a suitable passenger.

They changed buses twice before arriving at the town's dock, where they boarded the last boat.

It was already evening when we got back to the unit.

Su Yue sat on the stool, let out a long sigh, and said with emotion, "This place still feels like home."

Fu Shen felt the same way, and he asked softly, "Are you hungry?"

Su Yue: "It's alright, I want to take a shower before eating."

After two days on the train, I was covered in sweat.

Fu Shen went to boil water. After the two of them took a bath, Su Yue took out the food from her space. After they finished eating, they went to bed early.

The next day, Fu Shen went to work, and Su Yue took out her calligraphy practice book.

Not long after I started writing, Wang Jingyi walked in with light steps, a look of surprise on her face. She asked, "Why are you back so quickly? Yang Guohua said he saw you return, but I didn't believe it."

She calculated that, apart from the days spent on the road, she hadn't spent many days at home.

Su Yue: "I came back as soon as I finished my business."

Upon hearing this, Wang Jingyi asked with concern and curiosity, "Wasn't Fu Shen taking you home to meet his parents? What else is there to do? Are Fu Shen's parents easy to talk to?"

Su Yue said frankly, "We didn't stay at their house when we went back; instead, we stayed at Brother Fu Shen's place."

Wang Jingyi was taken aback at first, then sighed softly, "I was wondering why I didn't stay for many days when I went back. So that's why. If you're not easy to get along with, I'll go back less often in the future. I can just send some money back every year. It's not like there's nowhere else to stay here."

When her son brought his wife home, they were not welcomed and were not even allowed to stay at the house. She couldn't help but feel sorry for Fu Shen, "What kind of parents are these? Isn't this a slap in the face to their son?"

Su Yue nodded gently, but thought to herself, "They are not Fu Shen's biological parents, so there's no need to send the money back."

Seeing that Su Yue only nodded and didn't say anything more, Wang Jingyi continued, "Yueyue, don't feel guilty. Some women just don't have a good relationship with their mothers-in-law. I heard from your godfather that Fu Shen wasn't originally in this unit; he transferred here later. Fu Shen probably felt he had settled down, so he wrote home to tell them where he was. At that time, Fu Shen didn't know many characters, so he asked your godfather to help him read it. Who knew that the letter was full of insults against Fu Shen? Over the years, Fu Shen hasn't had time to go back, and they haven't come to see him even once. They're so cold-hearted towards their son, let alone their daughter-in-law."

Su Yue had already heard Fu Shen tell her these things, but hearing them again now still stirred up a surge of anger within her.

She took a deep breath, looked at Wang Jingyi and said, "I understand. I won't take them seriously anymore. They bullied Fu Shen like that, they don't respect Fu Shen as their 'son' at all. They have a precious son at home."

Wang Jingyi suddenly realized, "They're just treasuring their child. Sigh, Fu Shen is struggling outside, but it's not as good as staying at home. Most families would feel sorry for the one who suffers outside, but in their family, it's the other way around."

Su Yue subtly hinted, "Who knows about them? Maybe they don't even consider Fu Shen their biological son."

She couldn't say it outright, nor did she want to lie to Wang Jingyi, so this was the only way she could say it.

The two were chatting casually when suddenly, two sharp shouts of arguing came from outside.

"Pan Daniu, look what you've done to your child! Tell her to go pick some vegetables and uproot them! Do you even want to live with her anymore? My son is so unlucky to have married you. He can't even have a son, and he's just occupying the toilet without doing anything."

"I can't have a son, can you blame only me? Why can't we blame your son too!"

"Since you think my son is no good, then get a divorce."

The heated argument gradually subsided, and Su Yue looked at Wang Jingyi and asked, "Who are they? It sounds like they're arguing about having children."
