hotel
Ning Bingyu stepped out of the elevator, where a female secretary was waiting for him at the door. She reached out to take off his coat as she spoke—
"Young Master, Miss Ning Yuan is waiting for you in the conference room."
Ning Bingyu nodded calmly: "Okay."
This time, he booked seven or eight rooms at the Friendship Hotel, as well as a private conference room.
He went straight to the conference room and saw Ning Yuan memorizing vocabulary words as soon as he entered.
Ning Yuan: "Abandon...Abandon..."
Ning Bingyu: "..."
Char Siu Girl's English is still as terrible as ever!
He pulled out a chair and sat down without much emotion: "Your accent is really a headache. Stop pretending to be diligent in memorizing vocabulary. You should go back to Shanghai and finish what you need to do."
Ning Yuan put down her English book, looked at him, and rolled her eyes: "Didn't you ask Assistant Ye to tutor me in English? He calls me every week to check my vocabulary! So what if I have an accent? I'm not as lucky as you, growing up abroad and attending a prestigious university!"
She had never learned English in her past life, and even after trying hard to learn it for two or three years in this life, she is still able to do it today thanks to the guidance of Grandma Xia and Grandpa Tang.
Ning Bingyu was already annoyed, and then Ning Yuan retorted, so he just said coldly, "I don't have time to argue with you here. I have a lot of things to deal with."
With that, he got up and was about to leave.
"Mom still dotes on her goddaughter. Aren't you afraid your ex-fiancée will take advantage of Mom?" Ning Yuan suddenly asked.
Ning Bingyu stopped in his tracks, turned to look at Ning Yuan, a cold glint flashing in his eyes behind his glasses, but he still sat down: "What do you know?"
Ning Yuan looked at Tony and said, "Brother Tony, could you please prepare two meals for me and your boss? Thank you."
Tony nodded, then looked at his boss: "..."
Ning Bingyu said calmly, "Go."
Tony thoughtfully closed the door for the brother and sister as he left.
Ning Yuan poured a cup of tea and handed it to Ning Bingyu: "Mommy knows that something happened at the Ning family's dock. It was your future father-in-law who led the men to do it, right?"
Ning Bingyu smiled slightly at Ning Yuan, took the tea, and took a sip: "Yes."
He paused for a moment, then said, "I thought Mommy knew nothing about anything in the mainland. It seems I underestimated her. After all, the matriarch of the Ning family naturally has her own channels of information. But she already knows what the Cha family has done, and she still wants me to continue being with Annie. That's not the kind of thing the matriarch of the Ning family should do."
Ning Yuan frowned slightly. "You didn't say what Cha Meiling did. She thinks it was all Cha Shenlou's doing, so of course she'll protect Cha Meiling."
She paused for a moment, then continued, "Besides, Cha Meiling is a daughter-in-law she's watched grow up. If she could just throw her away like that, would that still be Ms. Wen Huifang's personality?"
A hint of helplessness appeared on Ning Bingyu's face.
Ning Yuan looked at him and said, "I don't know how you communicated. Your ex-fiancée called my mother. My mother now believes that what Cha Shenlou did has nothing to do with Cha Meiling. She can understand your breakup with her, but she will continue to recognize Sister Meiling as her goddaughter and support Cha Meiling in social situations."
Ning Bingyu slammed the teacup onto the table with a loud bang.
His handsome, refined face was filled with suppressed irritation: "It's more like we should be cutting ties with the Cha family now. Is my mother out of her mind?"
Ning Yuan curled her lips: "That's why I'm reminding you here. If your mother is used against you, you'll have nowhere to cry!"
Ning Bingyu looked at her for a while, then suddenly gave a brief account of the incident at the Ning family's dock and Cha Shenlou's secret dealings with the Ning family.
Ning Yuan's heart was filled with turmoil. It turned out that some of the gossip posts on the gossip forum decades later were actually true.
She looked at Ning Bingyu thoughtfully: "This involves your 'business' with the mainland. Is it appropriate for me to know about these things?"
She never asked Rong Zhaonan about these things.
Ning Bingyu slightly curled the corners of his lips: "Of course, I will only tell you things that I can tell you. Rong Zhaonan doesn't tell you these things in order to prevent you from getting involved in these dangerous things. The more you know, the greater your responsibility."
Ning Yuan sensed something was wrong and quickly stood up: "Goodbye!"
But the next moment, Ning Bingyu grabbed her wrist.
Ning Bingyu smiled gently and said, "Little sister, you don't want Mommy to encounter any danger, right? We're all family, of course we'll share the hardships and the joys."
Annoyance flashed in Ning Yuan's big eyes, and she pulled her hand back: "What exactly do you want?"
Ning Bingyu said leisurely, "I won't do anything. Little sister, you're doing very well in the mainland, and big brother is doing well in Hong Kong. I can also help you. I heard you've been looking for sources of electronic products. A friend of mine happens to have a batch of Japanese grey market goods that are stockpiled in Hong Kong and he's eager to sell them. Are you interested?"
Ning Yuan paused, looked at him, and said coldly, "Do you think you can buy me off with a few small favors and make me do whatever you want?"
Ning Bingyu gently pushed up his gold-rimmed glasses: "Your tone is exactly the same as Anan's. You really are a couple. But don't worry, I really don't intend for you to do anything. I just think that we siblings should have one of us stay in the mainland and the other in the Hong Kong government, helping each other and complementing each other's resources."
Ning Yuan: "..."
It has to be said that although Ning Bingyu is annoying and has a deep mind, he is still quite attractive as a partner.
She stood for a while, then sat down and gave a fake smile: "That's right, we're family, family. I'll consider it."
Ning Bingyu, this arrogant and domineering CEO, suddenly started praising her so highly, someone he'd always looked down on—there's definitely something fishy going on!
The Chairman said, "If the enemy doesn't move, we won't move either. Let's see what kind of trouble they're going to cause!"
Ning Bingyu smiled gently and poured her tea: "Little sister has always been a smart person."
Ning Yuan looked at him: "You said that after Cha Shenlou did those things, Cha Meiling not only didn't tell you, but also tipped him off and helped him clean up the mess after she found out that you were going to investigate Cha Shenlou?"
A shadow crossed Ning Bingyu's face: "Yes."
Ning Yuan looked at him and suddenly asked coolly, "Isn't this a typical case of entrapment?"
Ning Bingyu, intrigued by the new term, asked, "What is entrapment?"
Ning Yuan: "Entrapment is like casting bait to lure someone into making a mistake, and then seizing their weakness. Simply put, you deliberately let Cha Meiling know that you're investigating her father, right?"
Ning Bingyu looked at her expressionlessly: "What exactly are you trying to say? Are you blaming me for testing her?"
Ning Yuan rolled her eyes: "You two were originally together more for mutual benefit. You took advantage of the situation to test her, and you expect to get a heartfelt answer from her?"
"If you tell Mom this, not only will she not distance herself from her, she will probably think that she sacrificed the rest of her life for the Cha family and was truly innocent."
