Chapter 561 The Manipulator

Tony's voice came from outside the door: "It's me."

Chu Hongyu then opened the door.

Tony came in, saw that Chu Hongyu was still wearing her bathrobe, turned his eyes away and handed her a plate of bread: "In half an hour, all the colleagues are going to the Peace Hotel for dinner. You can go back to school in half an hour."

Chu Hongyu felt relieved and took the bread: "Okay, I understand, thank you for your hard work! I'll be leaving in a bit!"

I had a nightmare all night!

The nightmare has two parts: in the first part, she was exploited by a man from a poor background who left her with nothing; in the second part, she was exploited by a capitalist with zero pay! This place is unlucky, let's get out of here!

But the next moment, she suddenly saw Tony hand her another rather thick envelope.

Chu Hongyu instinctively took it as well: "What's this?"

Then she saw a stack of ten-yuan bills inside the envelope.

Chu Hongyu: "..."

Tony coughed lightly: "As for medical expenses and compensation, I'll tell the young master that you helped him into the room last night, and he went on a drunken rampage, causing you to get injured."

Chu Hongyu looked at the stack of ten-yuan notes and paused for a moment: "He doesn't remember anything?"

Tony: "Yeah, I remember you helped him into the room."

Chu Hongyu's feelings were somewhat complicated, and she couldn't quite describe them.

Angry or aggrieved?

Her boss saved her on the same day, then bullied her, and she felt bullied by her, so she went on a drunken rampage, but now she doesn't remember anything.

I don't even know what he did last night.

She paused for a moment, then accepted the envelope: "Okay."

Let's keep it simple then. Take the money and leave, consider it even, and keep things simple.

Tony watched as Chu Hongyu accepted the gift, then coughed lightly: "Young Master said he will find time to meet with you in person."

Chu Hongyu was startled and slightly furrowed her delicate eyebrows: "No need, I have already resigned. The young master has given me more than enough. There is nothing to discuss. I was just a part-time assistant, and my main job is still a student."

Tony looked at Chu Hongyu and knew she wouldn't back down, so he nodded and said, "Okay."

Chu Hongyu looked at him, her expression softening slightly: "Thank you, Tony."

He didn't tell Ning Bingyu too much about what she looked like last night, so as not to complicate things too much.

Tony smiled and said, "We're both just doing things for others, so let's not talk about that. If we have the chance to meet again in the future, we can still be friends."

Chu Hongyu smiled and shook hands with Tony: "Next time you come to Fudan University, I'll treat you to a meal."

...

When Tony returned to Ning Bingyu's room, the man had already finished showering and was standing in front of the only intact mirror in the bathroom, tying his tie.

"How is it?" He casually sprayed some cologne on his wrist.

Tony carefully chose his words: "She accepted the compensation and has classes in the afternoon, but... she said she wants to focus on her studies and probably won't be doing part-time work anymore."

Ning Bingyu put down the cologne and said calmly, "She hasn't left yet?"

Tony nodded: "Not yet. Hongyu doesn't really want anyone to see her coming out of my bachelor room."

Ning Bingyu glanced at the messy room, fastening his cufflinks as he walked towards the door.

Tony was taken aback: "Young Master, where are you going?"

However, he soon found out where Ning Bingyu had gone.

...

Chu Hongyu had just finished washing up and was about to change her clothes when she suddenly heard a knock at the door. She had only just reached the door when she heard Tony cough lightly: "It's me."

Chu Hongyu opened the door, somewhat puzzled: "What's wrong, Tony? Is there something you need?"

As soon as the door opened, an elegant and slender figure wearing a vest and a suit jacket draped over her arm stood in the doorway.

Chu Hongyu froze instantly, instinctively glancing at Tony behind him: "..."

Tony silently touched his nose: "..."

He didn't know that the young master would come directly.

Ning Bingyu looked down at her and asked, "May I come in?"

Chu Hongyu was still wearing the bathrobe from Tony's room, her fair and delicate face showing wariness as she stared at him.

He raised an eyebrow slightly: "What, is it inconvenient?"

She furrowed her delicate brows slightly: "Please come in, I'll go change my clothes."

Since we've decided to settle things evenly, let bygones be bygones about what happened last night, and we'll treat each other as superiors and subordinates.

Her superior was just standing there at the door, doing nothing but drawing attention!

As Ning Bingyu entered, Tony said, "I'll go downstairs to settle the room loss and help you change rooms."

Then he left, closing the door behind him.

Chu Hongyu: "..."

Brother, you don't need to be so self-aware!

She paused for a moment, then quickened her pace and went into the bathroom, changing her clothes as fast as she could.

As she came out of the bathroom, she saw Ning Bingyu standing by the window with his hands in his pockets, looking at the street scene outside.

"Sit down," he said calmly, turning around to look at her.

Chu Hongyu lowered her head and quickly packed her things: "No need, Young Master, if you have anything to tell me, just say it."

Ning Bingyu looked at her and gently pressed his glasses frame: "I rarely act like I did last night. If I said anything rude or hurt you in any way, I'm sorry."

Chu Hongyu's heart tightened. He...remembers? Didn't he say he didn't remember?

Her gaze involuntarily fell on the wound on the corner of his lips, and she suddenly remembered how he had held the back of her head and kissed her for a long time last night.

Her face flushed red and then paled in turns: "..."

Seeing that Chu Hongyu did not answer him, Ning Bingyu slightly furrowed his brows.

“Tony said you might be injured. I’m not sure if I pushed you last night or if it was for some other reason that you were injured, but it was my fault for injuring a lady.”

Chu Hongyu tugged at her red lips, lowered her eyes, and said mockingly, "No need."

It turns out they didn't know; they were just apologizing out of so-called gentlemanly manners.

After saying that, she picked up her clothes and bag and prepared to leave.

Ning Bingyu's voice rang out again: "Chu Hongyu, I hope you can consider becoming my official assistant and handling some related matters in mainland China."

Chu Hongyu paused, then turned to look at him coldly: "Young Master Ning, you thought my presence here would affect the work efficiency of other male colleagues, but then you changed your tune when you thought my parents' positions and connections could help you?"

Assistant Ye gave her the green light to learn to drive in a company-rented car. She wanted to learn another assistant skill, but he felt that she was using her beauty to gain advantages and even affecting other colleagues.

Now they're attracted to her background and want her to stay?

She curled her red lips into a smile, crossed her arms, raised an eyebrow, and asked sarcastically, "I'm not a kitten or puppy that you can summon and dismiss at will. You don't respect me, yet you want to use me. What gives you the right?"

Ning Bingyu looked at her and said calmly, "Don't be angry. I'm letting you go because you are indeed beautiful enough. I don't like it when my subordinates give you preferential treatment, so I'm letting you go."

Chu Hongyu was taken aback. Was he praising her beauty?

She hadn't expected him to actually...

Ning Bingyu paused for a moment: "It's not disrespectful, because in an employment relationship, payment for goods is respect."

He lightly tapped his glasses on the bridge of his nose with his long finger and said gently, "The reason I let you stay is because your background and connections are valuable enough that I can tolerate my subordinates giving you preferential treatment."

He chuckled lightly, as if mocking himself: "I myself am giving you the green light. It's an exchange of value. I'm a businessman, and I'm talking business."

His gaze behind his glasses was calm, and his voice carried a convincing tranquility.

The sunlight fell on his sharp, deep features, making his handsome face appear gentle, refined, mature, and elegant.

Chu Hongyu felt a peculiar sense of separation, as if the mean, wicked, and absurd man from last night was not him at all.

She lowered her eyes, clenched her palms, and avoided looking into his eyes, which were fixed intently on her.

It must be said that if a man in front of you is willing, he can make even the most utilitarian exchanges sound like sweet nothings and compliments.

That's the charm of his ability to make people's thoughts unconsciously follow his rhythm and framework; he can sway people's hearts with just a few words. He truly is...

A natural manipulator and negotiator.

"Unfortunately, I'm not a businesswoman, so I'm sorry, I still don't plan to stay." Chu Hongyu gave a slight smile, picked up her bag, and walked towards the door.
