Rong Zhaonan looked around at the ground with the flashlight, touched the marks on the ground, then stood up and shone the light into the distance: "She stayed for a while, but then left."
The next moment, Ning Yuan immediately followed: "Let's go after them!!"
A group of people immediately followed them out.
Just as they emerged from the small hill on campus, a female law student rushed over, shouting, "Don't bother looking anymore, Chu Hongyu has gone back to her dorm!"
Everyone was stunned; no one expected that Chu Hongyu would actually return to her dormitory.
Ning Yuan thought for a moment, thanked everyone, and promised to treat those who helped her to coffee at the Heart of Epoch next time. She then sent the law students who had helped her back home.
She then looked at Rong Zhaonan: "Yangyang and I will go back and check on Sister Hongyu first. Anan, could you go to Grandma Xia's place for me and tell her that we will bring Sister Hongyu over later?"
Rong Zhaonan gently squeezed her hand and comforted her gently, "It's good that no one is hurt. Don't worry too much."
Jin Bianjiang also looked at Yan Yangyang: "Junior, if you need anything, just come to me."
Yan Yangyang nodded: "Okay!"
After parting ways with Rong Zhaonan and Jin Bianjiang, Ning Yuan and Yan Yangyang jogged back to their dormitory building, where they happened to run into several girls carrying washbasins coming down from upstairs.
"You just saw that girl in dorm 502 get slept with before her marriage... Is it true or not?!"
"I don't know. She's the school beauty. Judging from her usual aloof demeanor, you can't judge a book by its cover!"
Yan Yangyang was so angry that her eyebrows stood on end. She rolled up her sleeves and was about to rush over to argue when Ning Yuan grabbed her arm.
"What are you doing? These gossipy women, their mouths are so dirty, I'm going to tear their mouths apart!"
Yan Yangyang said angrily that if Ning Yuan hadn't held her back, she probably would have rushed into the crowd and started cursing.
Ning Yuan lowered her voice and said, "No, what good will arguing with them do? These days, you can't change the overall social environment, and you'll only attract more onlookers! Let's go up and see how Sister Hongyu is doing first."
Yan Yangyang thought about it and agreed. She could only stomp her foot angrily and follow Ning Yuan upstairs.
The dormitory door was closed, but there were still a few girls standing around the entrance, pointing and whispering curiously.
"What are you doing?! Are you watching monkeys or looking for a beating?!" Yan Yangyang shouted angrily, like a thunderclap from a clear sky, startling the group of girls who scattered like birds.
Ning Yuan opened the door and saw Chu Hongyu sitting on the bed with her head down, her long hair covering her face, making it impossible to see her expression.
Ning Yuan quickly walked to Chu Hongyu's side, looked her up and down, and breathed a sigh of relief when she saw that apart from being a little pale, she was not injured.
Ning Yuan stepped forward and gently put her arm around Hongyu's shoulder: "Sister Hongyu, it's alright, we're all here."
Yan Yangyang also came over, frantically trying to comfort her, but not knowing what to say, and stamped her feet in frustration.
"Stop crying, you little rascal! Those gossipy women are just talking nonsense. Don't take it to heart. If you don't like it, I'll beat them all up!"
Upon hearing Yan Yangyang's voice, Chu Hongyu slowly raised her head, revealing a numb face streaked with tears, her eyes red and swollen, with tears still clinging to her face.
"Ningning, Big Monkey, you're back." Chu Hongyu's voice was hoarse and had a heavy nasal tone.
Chu Hongyu sniffed and closed her eyes blankly: "It's my fault. I've dragged those around me down. This time, I'm afraid my father and mother will be implicated as well."
She could easily guess what Jiang Yuejin would say when he got back, what he would say to his parents, and how he would scold them.
As she spoke, tears silently rolled down her face again.
Ning Yuan gently patted her back: "All parents who love their children will only be grateful that you survived the ordeal. They will not blame you for being implicated. For the rest of your life, be filial to them, live well, and live a more wonderful life than anyone else. That is how you repay your parents."
Chu Hongyu couldn't hold back her tears, which fell even more fiercely. "But, I..."
Seeing her crying so hard she could barely breathe, Yan Yangyang also became anxious: "You little rascal, stop crying. It's painful for us to see you like this!"
Ning Yuan handed her a tissue and said softly, "Sister Hongyu, the most important thing for you right now is to calm down and rest. We can talk about other things later."
Chu Hongyu took the tissue, wiped her tears, and said in a hoarse voice, "Thank you, Ningning, Big Monkey."
Yan Yangyang and Ning Yuan didn't say much, but stayed by her side.
After a long while, seeing that Chu Hongyu's emotions had gradually calmed down, Ning Yuan said—
"Don't stay in the dormitory for the next few days. Going home isn't appropriate either. Go stay with my grandpa and grandma for a few days. While you're at it, call home and tell them what happened today, so that your uncle and aunt can be prepared and deal with it."
Chu Hongyu nodded wearily; she didn't want to see a group of girls pointing and whispering about her in the dormitory.
The three of them quickly helped Chu Hongyu tidy up before heading to the faculty dormitory.
Chu Hongyu was wearing a cotton gauze mask on her face. She didn't want others to see her swollen eyes and haggard face, nor did she want to face those strange looks and whispers.
As the three of them approached the entrance of the staff dormitory, they saw Grandma Xia standing there, looking on with concern on her kind face.
"Grandma, we're back," Ning Yuan said first, breaking the brief silence.
"Oh dear, girl, and Yangyang, you're finally back!" Grandma Xia grabbed Ning Yuan's hand and asked anxiously, "How is Hongyu? That child has suffered so much!"
"Grandma, I'm fine. I'm sorry to have worried you." Chu Hongyu's voice was low, with a slight sob in it.
Grandma Xia pulled her into the house with a pained expression. "You silly child, what nonsense are you talking about! Come in quickly, Grandpa Tang has already gone to make you some fruit juice. Sweeten your mouths and don't think about those unhappy things."
As we entered the house, Grandpa Tang greeted us with three cups of fruit juice, his face beaming with a kind smile: "Hongyu, come on, have some orange juice. It's sweet and sour, it'll cheer you up."
"Thank you, Grandpa Tang." Chu Hongyu took the fruit juice, took a small sip, and a warm feeling welled up in her heart, easing some of her sadness.
Yan Yangyang held her hand and gently comforted her, "Don't be afraid, my little darling. Everything will pass. The most important thing for you now is to rest well and get yourself back on track."
"Thank you," Chu Hongyu said gratefully. Their care and support brought her a touch of warmth in the darkness.
After a brief silence, Ning Yuan looked directly into Chu Hongyu's eyes and asked firmly, "Sister Hongyu, what do you plan to do next?"
Chu Hongyu remained silent for a moment, her gaze falling on the fruit juice in her hand. The yellow liquid in the glass swayed slightly, reflecting her complex expression.
"I can't just let this go," Chu Hongyu said softly, but with unusual firmness, like a vow made from the depths of her chest.
"I will make those who harmed me pay the price! I will also graduate from school smoothly!"
