Inside the exquisitely elegant rooms of the Jinjiang Hotel in Shanghai, the atmosphere was chilling.
"Useless! A bunch of useless trash!" The man forcefully stubbed out his cigar.
"Are all those people at the Hong Kong Police Department idiots? How could they let Cha Shenlou get away like that!" Since Assistant Ye made the phone call, Ning Bingyu's handsome face was full of gloom.
No wonder Rong Zhaonan left so quickly. He finally managed to get another order, and then this damn blunder happened again.
Cha Shen Lou was originally intended as a gift for his 'mainland guests'!
Tony, dressed in a black suit, stood silently beside him, handing him a glass of ice water and whispering words of advice—
"To put it bluntly, this matter has nothing to do with us. There are moles in the police station and prison, which is beyond the young master's ability to stop."
Ning Bingyu took the water glass but didn't drink it. He just held it in his hand expressionlessly, his knuckles turning slightly white from the force.
The man's deep, captivating eyes, which usually appeared to be those of a romantic and refined gentleman, were now filled with icy killing intent.
"This isn't just about mainland customers; Cha Shen Lou only has two outcomes—either he dies at the hands of the Hong Kong government, or he's handed over to the mainland. Just because he escaped doesn't mean anyone can touch my goods."
The image of Cha Shenlou's hypocritical and insidious face flashed through his mind, fueling his anger even more.
If he lets Cha Shenlou off the hook like this, why would he still need to work for the Hong Kong government?
“Young Master, please calm down. Everyone knows why Cha Shenlou’s eldest son disappeared. No one will dare to touch Ning’s goods!” Tony said in a deep voice.
These days, working for the Hong Kong government isn't just about business; it's also about dealing with the underworld!
If you don't have some business acumen, you can't keep those who are eager to cause trouble in check.
He paused, then said, "Young Master, I've already contacted Uncle from the Hung Hing Society. As long as Cha Shen Lou is still in Hong Kong, he won't be able to escape."
“That old fox Cha Shenlou got away this time, it will be difficult to catch him next time!” Ning Bingyu said coldly.
He poured himself a cup of tea, his tone revealing an undisguised ruthlessness and killing intent: "Tell Uncle Tang to issue a kill order in the martial arts world. I want his head, and the reward is one million!"
"Young Master, the guest from the mainland seems to prefer that Cha Shenlou live." Assistant Ye walked in with the documents and immediately reminded him upon hearing his boss's words.
Only by staying alive can one confess. Even though he wasn't in charge of the other behind-the-scenes affairs of the Ning family, he could still sense that there was something strange about Cha Shenlou's rescue.
Ning Bingyu paused, gripped the cup tightly, and his expression darkened.
After a long pause, he took a deep breath and asked expressionlessly, "What did my uncle say? Does he know?"
Tony replied in a low voice, "The chairman already knows. He told you to be extra careful, and he will also strengthen security at home."
Ning Bingyu sneered, his eyes sharp as knives, "Since Cha Shenlou dared to kill even Hong Kong police officers, he will definitely not let this go. Next, he'll probably have to resort to desperate measures..."
A sudden knock on the door interrupted Ning Bingyu's thoughts. He frowned and asked impatiently, "Who is it?"
“It’s me.” Rong Zhaonan’s deep, magnetic voice came from outside the door.
Ning Bingyu paused for a moment, then got up and opened the door: "Anan."
Rong Zhaonan stood tall and straight at the door, dressed in a black trench coat, his handsome and aloof face revealing no emotion.
He walked straight into the room and closed the door behind him: "Looks like you already know."
Rong Zhaonan's deep, night-sky-like eyes swept over Tony and Assistant Ye in the room, finally landing on Ning Bingyu's face.
“That’s right, Cha Shenlou won’t let this go.” Rong Zhaonan’s tone was indifferent, as if he were just saying that the weather was nice today, but Ning Bingyu and Tony both felt an invisible pressure.
"Did Anan just find out about this too?" Ning Bingyu raised an eyebrow.
He walked to the liquor cabinet, poured two glasses of whiskey, handed one to Rong Zhaonan, and held the other in his hand, gently swirling it.
Rong Zhaonan took the wine glass, toying with it in his hand, a cold smile curving his lips—
"Young Master Ning, you and the eldest daughter of the Cha family have been engaged for so many years. I've come to ask you, how much do you know about Cha Shenlou and the Cha family?"
Ning Bingyu chuckled softly, tilted his head back, and downed the wine in his glass in one gulp, his tone tinged with self-deprecation.
“Anan is joking. My engagement with Annie has been dissolved. You don’t think I would still be hung up on her and bend the law for personal gain, do you? She even dared to betray me for the sake of the Cha family. I haven’t held her accountable yet, only because she once called me ‘Big Brother’.”
Rong Zhaonan narrowed his long, narrow eyes, as if he could see through everything: "I still want to hear Young Master Ning's analysis. After all, knowing yourself and your enemy is the key to victory in every battle."
Ning Bingyu remained silent for a moment, then tapped his long, slender fingers lightly on the table, making a rhythmic sound.
He knew that Rong Zhaonan was not someone who would give up easily, so he must have his reasons for asking.
"Although Cha Shenlou is cunning and shrewd, he doesn't really have any real skills. Otherwise, we wouldn't have caught him, and he wouldn't have watched his most prized son die in front of him."
Ning Bingyu spoke calmly, but with a hint of sarcasm.
He paused for a moment: "His ability to escape this time must be due to the support of other forces behind him, and these forces are definitely not simple."
"Oh? I'd like to hear more." Rong Zhaonan raised an eyebrow, signaling him to continue.
“If I’m not mistaken, this force is not a local Hong Kong government force, and their target may not necessarily be our Ning family.” Ning Bingyu paused.
He looked sharply at Rong Zhaonan: "Or rather, their target is the 'mainland guests' behind you."
"Continue." Rong Zhaonan's face remained expressionless, as if everything was within his expectations.
"They want to use Cha Shen Lou to create trouble for us, and use this as a way to test the bottom line of 'mainland guests'," Ning Bingyu sneered.
Ning Bingyu's expression grew even colder: "They just didn't expect that Cha Shenlou would be so useless, revealing his true colors so quickly."
"So, you think Cha Shenlou will come back?" Rong Zhaonan asked with a playful tone.
“He will definitely come back.” Ning Bingyu said with certainty, with a hint of ruthlessness, “because he wants revenge, and the mastermind behind him will not allow him to leave like this.”
“That’s right.” Rong Zhaonan’s lips curled into a cold smile.
"Cha Shenlou is like a stray dog trying to jump over a wall, but the venomous snake behind him is still hiding in the shadows, waiting for its chance to strike."
Ning Bingyu was incredibly clever; he immediately understood his meaning, lightly adjusted his glasses, and gently clinked his cup against Ning Bingyu's.
“I understand. Since we’re cooperating, we need to get rid of the venomous snakes and wild dogs completely to prevent them from biting people.”
Rong Zhaonan took a sip of whiskey, looked out the window at the bustling Nanjing Road, and asked indifferently, "What's Cha Meiling up to lately?"
A gloomy look flashed across Ning Bingyu's brow: "I know she recently came to the mainland."
