Chapter 665 Mercenaries (Part 1)

He turned his head slightly and glanced at the burly man behind him who was over 1.9 meters tall.

The burly man, having received the instructions, nodded calmly, led a few men to the center of the living room, raised his large foot clad in military boots, and kicked it forward with a vengeance.

With a loud bang, the lids of the neatly stacked black metal boxes popped open, revealing the terrifying "goods" inside.

Various types of heavy firearms were neatly arranged in the boxes, gleaming coldly under the light, and also included highly lethal grenades and explosives.

The burly man picked up a German-made MP5 submachine gun from the box and casually tossed it to the leader. "Boss, this is a good one!"

The man caught the submachine gun steadily, his slender fingers sliding nimbly across the gun as he skillfully pulled the bolt and checked the magazine.

The series of movements were as natural and fluid as flowing water.

He nodded slightly, indicating his approval of the shipment.

Seeing this, the other subordinates also stepped forward, opened the boxes, and carefully inspected and tested the weapons and equipment inside.

Tony looked at the man seriously and said, "Inspector Li will meet with you all later and explain the situation in detail. He will also assist you in the operation. Here is some water and supper. Please help yourselves."

The man simply nodded slightly after hearing Tony's words, speaking sparingly: "No need, we'll bring our own."

Tony understood immediately upon hearing the man's reply.

He knew that, to avoid unnecessary trouble, these people would not use any food or water provided by the Hong Kong government until the operation was over.

This is their consistent code of conduct—safety and confidentiality are their top priorities when carrying out missions.

Tony didn't say anything more. After giving a few brief instructions, he led his men away from the hall, leaving the space to the fully armed "guests".

The man watched Tony and his group leave before slowly stretching his limbs, which were stiff from the long journey.

He walked to the sofa in the center of the hall, stretched out his long legs, and sat down on the sofa.

He placed the MP5 submachine gun he had been holding on his lap and began skillfully loading bullets, preparing for the upcoming operation.

In the lobby, the television was on, broadcasting ATV's evening news.

"Boss, this batch is even better than the last one!" A burly man carrying a rocket launcher excitedly took aim.

The man didn't reply, his cold gaze falling on the television screen that flashed by, as it happened to switch to a Christmas program.

The most eye-catching event was the grand auction held at the Regent Hotel.

Amidst the elegant attire and swaying hair, and the clinking of glasses, the man immediately spotted the dazzling Ning Yuan on the stage.

She wore a champagne-colored long dress, her long black hair was styled in an updo, revealing her slender, fair neck, and a few strands of hair fell around her ears, making her skin look even whiter than snow.

Under the dazzling lights, his obsidian-like eyes shone brightly, and he seemed to glow, radiating brilliance.

Madam Ning was affectionately holding her hand and helping her put on a jade bracelet, while Ning Bing'an stood beside her, bowing his head and gently putting on a jade necklace for her.

The sight of what appeared to be a family of three made the man's breath catch in his throat, and his gaze instantly became unfathomable.

The man narrowed his eyes, his gaze sweeping over Ning Bing'an's handsome face on the television screen, and over his fingers resting on Ning Yuan's collarbone. The coldness in his eyes was almost tangible.

"Tsk tsk tsk, handsome man and beautiful woman, this golden couple of the capitalist world are quite a good match." The burly man put down the rocket launcher and casually remarked.

"Smack!"

He had barely finished speaking when he received a slap on the back of the head.

"What nonsense are you spouting?!" The man who hit him was calm and composed.

He lowered his voice and glared at the big man without any politeness: "Don't ask what you shouldn't ask, don't say what you shouldn't say, and watch your mouth!"

That beautiful woman on TV is clearly... my sister-in-law!

The burly man, clutching his head, muttered with a wronged expression, "I was just saying it casually, why are you being so fierce..."

The man sitting on the sofa ignored their argument, his eyes fixed on the television screen.

Watching Ning Yuan walk off the stage arm in arm with that man, watching them dance gracefully in the crowd, they looked like a perfect couple.

She looked at her relatives, who were part of high society, taking photos with her.

Her smile and demeanor were composed and graceful, as if she were born to be a member of the Hong Kong government and had never left her mother and other relatives.

Suddenly, that girl was no longer the young educated youth in the village who smiled and waved at him.

The light reflected from the television screen flickered in his deep pupils, making it impossible to discern his emotions at that moment.

He was like a black phantom hiding in the darkness, only able to watch her dazzling under the flashlight through the television.

It's like... they're from completely different worlds.

"Boss, are you alright?" the thin man asked cautiously upon seeing the situation.

The man didn't speak, but simply shook his head silently.

After a long while, he finally spoke calmly, "I'm fine. Go and see when Inspector Li will arrive, and tell him to hurry up."

"Yes," the thin man replied, then turned and left.

The man continued to stand by the window, looking at the streets of Hong Kong Island in the distance, and said calmly, "...Prepare for action."

...

The basement was filled with a damp, musty smell. Under the dim light, Cha Meiling sat awkwardly on the cold cement floor, arms crossed.

She has been locked up here for most of the night. From the initial panic, she now feels more humiliation and anger than fear of the unknown.

"Why would Cha Shenlou kidnap his own daughter? She's his own flesh and blood!" A rough voice came from outside the door, filled with undisguised curiosity.

Another voice, though lowered, couldn't hide its gloating tone: "Who knows? These days, rich families have all sorts of troubles. Maybe he kidnapped his daughter to threaten his wife in a fight for the inheritance?"

"That eldest daughter of the Cha family is really unlucky to have such a father..."

Cha Meiling felt a pang of bitterness as she listened to the conversation between the two ruthless thugs outside the door.

She couldn't just sit and wait to die, letting Cha Shenlou take away the property she had worked so hard to acquire; she had to find a way to escape!

Cha Shenlou probably wouldn't dare to really hurt her; she needs to run away first!

As long as she can escape, there is still a chance!

Cha Meiling observed her surroundings, searching for any possibility of escape.

The doors and windows of the basement were all sealed off. The only exit was that heavy iron door, but there was a ventilation window on the top!

Cha Meiling climbed onto the stool and shook the ventilation window. She hadn't held out much hope, but the ventilation window, due to years of disrepair, actually shook open a hole!

Cha Meiling's eyes lit up, and she tried to tear open the iron bars of the ventilation window!

"What are you doing?!"

Suddenly, a cold voice rang out behind her, startling Cha Meiling so much that she trembled all over.

She turned her head and saw a tall, burly man standing in the doorway, holding a rubber baton and looking at her coldly.
