Chapter 682 had an impact.

“You…” Cha Meiling was about to speak, but when she caught sight of the tall figure standing behind Ning Yuan at the doorway, she swallowed the words that were on the tip of her tongue.

"Ning Yuan, you seem to care more about your sworn brother Wei Heng than your biological brother. Is it because he has taken care of you and doted on you since you were a child?"

A cold glint flashed in her eyes, and ignoring her own pain, she weakly whispered to Ning Yuan.

Cha Meiling paused: "I didn't know that Wei Heng had feelings for you, nor did I know that you were so reluctant to let Tang Zhenzhen marry him because you had Wei Heng in your heart."

She sighed: "If Wei Heng had confessed his feelings first, you probably wouldn't have married your current husband, right? I didn't know your relationship with Wei Heng was so deep, otherwise you would never have let Tang Zhenzhen do that!"

Ning Yuan's fingers tightened suddenly as she gripped the porcelain shard, leaving a bloody mark on her fair palm from its sharp edge.

But she seemed oblivious to the pain, simply staring coldly at Cha Meiling—

"If you dare to smear my brother again, I'll really carve a pattern on your face! I'm not afraid of getting my hands dirty by carving patterns on shit!" Ning Yuan said coldly.

Cha Meiling froze, her face turning deathly pale with anger, yet she dared not utter another word.

I already know this woman's methods very well. She may seem weak and petite, but she is actually ruthless and vicious. If you really anger her, she is capable of anything!

Ning Yuan was too lazy to watch her act anymore. She turned to Rong Zhaonan and said in her usual cold and indifferent tone, "I have finished the interrogation. The rest is up to you. Make sure that Cha Shenlou does not escape."

Rong Zhaonan nodded slightly, his deep gaze sweeping over Ning Yuan, and then, as he walked toward Cha Meiling, he instructed Chen Chen: "Close the door and prepare to take a statement."

When Cha Meiling saw him walk in, for some reason, she shrank back somewhat awkwardly, not daring to look at him.

Ning Yuan glanced coldly at Cha Meiling, then turned and left the room where Cha Meiling was being held.

The door slammed shut.

Old Xu from the next room came out and gave Ning Yuan a thumbs up: "Seventh Miss is amazing! She's worth ten interrogators! Her methods are truly impressive, I'm completely impressed."

Ning Yuan smiled faintly: "In this world, there is no mouth that cannot be pried open; the key is what tools you use. It's easier for me to do it than for you."

She paused, then made no attempt to hide it, "Besides, I feel more comfortable talking to my sixth sister; we have some personal grudges to settle."

Old Xu paused for a moment, then smiled without saying anything.

He knew perfectly well that Ning Yuan wasn't "speaking freely," but rather "taking action" with ease! Who wouldn't be terrified by such a tactic?

Looking at the bloodstain on Ning Yuan's fair palm, Old Xu couldn't help but remind her, "You should treat the injury on your hand and keep it dry."

Ning Yuan waved her hand dismissively: "It's nothing, just a minor injury, nothing to worry about."

Old Xu smiled meaningfully: "That may be true, but there are people who care, aren't there?"

Ning Yuan remained silent for a moment, the image of Rong Zhaonan's cold and stern face appearing in her mind, before finally giving in: "Alright, then I'll trouble you."

Seeing this, Lao Xu quickly took Ning Yuan to treat her wounds.

Not long after, Rong Zhaonan also came out of the room where Cha Meiling was being held.

As soon as he left, he whispered some instructions to Chen Chen, who immediately took his men to carry them out.

Ning Yuan looked up as he came out and immediately asked, "How was it?"

Rong Zhaonan led her to a nearby room and poured her a glass of water: "The information you obtained from interrogating Cha Meiling was very valuable. Later, we will make arrangements and go directly to the Aberdeen Typhoon Shelter to investigate the situation and arrest Cha Shenlou."

Ning Yuan took the water and nodded: "That's good."

Rong Zhaonan looked at her bandaged hand and asked in a low voice, "How did you get hurt?"

While drinking water, Ning Yuan said nonchalantly, "It's just a minor injury, nothing to worry about."

Rong Zhaonan took her wrist and carefully examined the spot on her palm where the medicine had been applied. His brows furrowed slightly: "How could you be so careless?"

"I'm really okay!" Ning Yuan tried to pull her hand away, but Rong Zhaonan held her wrist tightly. His palm was warm and dry. He looked up at her steadily, his voice low and hoarse: "Does it hurt?"

"Just ask me whatever you want to say," Ning Yuan said suddenly, looking at him.

Rong Zhaonan stared at Ning Yuan, but because he was wearing a mask, Ning Yuan couldn't see his expression.

Rong Zhaonan remained silent for a moment before slowly speaking: "If I hadn't been sent down to the countryside back then, and you hadn't needed to rely on me to find your parents, would you have married Wei Heng?"

Ning Yuan raised an eyebrow, her clear eyes seemingly able to see into people's hearts: "Rong Zhaonan, when did you become so fussy? This is not like you."

"I just..." Rong Zhaonan tried to explain, but Ning Yuan interrupted him.

“You were just influenced by Cha Meiling’s words, weren’t you?” Ning Yuan’s tone was calm, yet sharp as a knife.

Rong Zhaonan frowned but didn't say anything.

“I never considered the possibility you mentioned,” Ning Yuan said calmly.

"My relationship with Wei Heng is innocent, it was, it is, and it will be in the future."
