Chapter 694 Lessons

Ning Bingyu raised his head, a faint smile appearing on his refined and handsome face: "What, are you surprised? Are you wondering when your older brother became so afraid of death?"

Rong Zhaonan calmly walked to the stool next to him and sat down, pouring himself a cup of tea: "You're quite composed. After such a big incident, you still have the mood to eat a late-night snack."

“I had just finished talking with my uncles from the 14K and Hung Hing triads in Kowloon Walled City and was about to have dinner with them when I received a page saying that Chu Hung Yu had sent an important document from the mainland tonight and that I needed to come back to sign it,” Ning Bingyu said slowly.

He pointed to a file folder on the side: "There's some progress on a project back in the mainland, so I came back first and had Mark and a few other guys have dinner with those old guys."

"So that's how it is. Then about tonight's banquet..." Ning Yuan suddenly realized, and a weight was finally lifted from her heart.

Ning Bingyu pointed to the pager on the coffee table: "Mark notified me after receiving the message."

"Are you alright?" Ning Yuan looked him up and down. "Those people didn't do anything to you, did they?"

"What could possibly happen to me? What? Are you worried about me?" Ning Bingyu put down the documents, glanced at Ning Yuan with a half-smile, and said in a teasing tone.

Ning Yuan blushed slightly and glared at him, annoyed. "Who's worried about you? I'm worried you'll get sold out and still be helping them count the money! We're business partners, after all. I can't just watch you get into trouble!"

"Heh, still so sharp-tongued. What man could stand you?" Ning Bingyu shook his head with a smile and glanced at Rong Zhaonan.

Rong Zhaonan remained silent.

Ning Bingyu didn't expect this "henpecked husband" to say anything.

He simply said to Rong Zhaonan seriously, "Anan, thank you for your hard work tonight. If it weren't for you, it would have been very troublesome if something had happened to Bing'an."

Tonight was all a fluke; who would have thought that Cha Shenlou would actually make a move against Ning Bing'an!

“Of course, I’m security, you hired me, didn’t you?” Rong Zhaonan said calmly, his deep eyes sweeping over Ning Yuan with a hint of barely perceptible teasing and tenderness.

As the two were talking, a phone rang urgently.

Ning Bingyu walked to the table, picked up the phone, and answered it.

As the message came from the other end of the phone, his originally gentle expression was gradually shrouded in gloom, until only a chilling coldness remained.

He put down the phone and looked at Ning Yuan and Rong Zhaonan.

"Something happened in Kowloon Walled City. There was a fire. Mark and many other triad members were injured. The fire is huge and it's not under control yet."

"Fire? How could this be?!" Ning Yuan's delicate eyebrows furrowed.

Kowloon Walled City was a place where all sorts of people mingled; if it really caught fire, the consequences would be unimaginable.

“Mark and many of his gang members were injured and are still in the hospital receiving emergency treatment.” Ning Bingyu’s eyes blazed with anger.

Rong Zhaonan's eyes darkened, and his tone turned icy: "There are no such coincidences in the world. It seems that the other party will really stop at nothing to rescue Cha Shenlou."

"It seems you're incredibly lucky, young master, you've escaped a calamity." Rong Zhaonan looked at Ning Bingyu.

Ning Yuan couldn't help but sigh, "They want to kill Erwin and Bing'an on one hand, and they also want to target the eldest brother on the other. That's quite a big move."

“Taking action against Young Master Ning must be a backup plan after discovering that the attempt to kill Ning Bing’an failed.” Rong Zhaonan glanced down at his watch.

He calmly analyzed, "This is the same principle as killing Erwin; both are to prevent the port from being blockaded so that Chashenlou can escape."

Ning Bingyu poured himself a cup of tea, took a small sip, and calmed himself down: "Such a large-scale operation is not just to help Cha Shenlou escape."

Rong Zhaonan nodded and chuckled, "It's also to stop the Ning family from continuing to cooperate with the mainland, to teach you a lesson so that you won't dare to cooperate with the mainland again."

Ning Yuan's heart skipped a beat, and a chill ran up her spine.

She suddenly remembered that her husband, as a representative of "mainland guests," was doing some kind of "big business" with her older brother, and she immediately felt a chill run down her spine.

The last deal went well, and this time they're going to do something even bigger, especially with Ning Bingyu's direct involvement in the arrest of Cha Shenlou...

Foreign forces can't get close to Rong Zhaonan, but Ning Bingyu is such a big target, they have to try to take him down.

Ning Yuan frowned and looked at Ning Bingyu with concern: "What do you plan to do?"

Ning Bingyu didn't answer immediately. He got up and walked to the window, looking at the night view of Repulse Bay outside: "They've miscalculated. I, Ning Bingyu, am not someone to be intimidated!"

He lightly adjusted his gold-rimmed glasses and narrowed his cold, almond-shaped eyes: "I will try to find connections to control the lifting of the lockdown order as much as possible. I will try to postpone the reopening of the sea until the day after tomorrow."

"The day after tomorrow?!" Ning Yuan couldn't help but stand up, pressing her hand on the table. "With so many changes happening now, it's dangerous if the plan isn't thorough!"

This would be too dangerous for Rong Zhaonan and his group.

Rong Zhaonan stood up, put his arm around her shoulder reassuringly, and said calmly, "Because we have to arrest them before they take their next step."

Ning Bingyu nodded, then looked at Ning Yuan, his glasses reflecting a dark, cold light: "The longer this drags on, the worse it will be for us. I'll be very busy tonight, little sister, you and Anan should go home and rest early."

Ning Yuan wanted to say something more, but Rong Zhaonan grabbed her wrist.

"Let's go, it's getting late," Rong Zhaonan said indifferently.

Ning Yuan had no choice but to suppress the turbulent thoughts in her heart and follow Rong Zhaonan out of the study.
