How could it be him—Xiang Ziying?!
Isn't he in jail?!
The man in front of her was dressed in black, with his hands in his pockets, standing casually in front of her.
His originally refined and fair face was tanned a bit, but those slender fox-like eyes and high nose bridge were none other than Xiang Ziying!
However, now there is a hideous scar on his right cheek, running across his face to his ear. His once refined yet arrogant scholarly air is now as if covered by a layer of dust.
The arrogance that was originally something only spoiled young people had, I wonder now whether he has experienced something in prison or in the Hong Kong government.
It has been precipitated into a complex temperament that is hard to describe, gloomy, cold and ruthless, with a fierce fighting spirit.
At this moment, Ning Yuan felt that Xiang Ziying resembled Xiang Ziye!
Ning Yuan subconsciously took two steps back, staring at the other person warily.
She and Rong Zhaonan finally managed to kill Xiang Ziye's brother and send him to prison.
Xiang Ziying was also sentenced to ten years.
How did he end up here? And he even knows Fourth Uncle?
She had suffered a lot and even almost lost her life trying to bring those two treacherous brothers to justice. Had all her previous efforts been in vain?
The two locked eyes, and the air in the room seemed to freeze at that moment.
Fourth Uncle paused for a moment, then looked at Xiang Ziying, but couldn't figure it out.
The old man turned back to Ning Yuan and snorted, "You've mistaken me for someone else! This is a relative of my fellow villager, surnamed Qin, named Qin Changsheng. He just smuggled himself over from Shantou."
Ning Yuan paused, narrowed her eyes, and didn't say anything, but became even more wary.
She absolutely could not have mistaken someone for someone else!
The man looked at Ning Yuan, whose demeanor had changed, and a flicker of emotion and shock flashed in his eyes.
But his expression quickly returned to indifference. He chuckled lightly, his tone laced with undisguised sarcasm: "Miss, are you joking? I don't know you."
Ning Yuan took a deep breath, struggling to suppress the turmoil in her heart, and said coldly—
“I don’t know how you got out of prison or how you smuggled yourself into Hong Kong, but I don’t need you to do anything here.”
Having said that, she ignored Xiang Ziying and turned to give a slight nod to her fourth uncle.
"Fourth Uncle, it seems there's no business left between us. Just pretend I was never here."
What a coincidence!
With that, she turned to leave.
"Hey, you little brat, how can you talk like that!" Uncle Four slammed his teacup down on the table, a cold glint flashing in his cloudy old eyes.
Ning Yuan paused, turned around, and said with a forced smile—
"I'm just afraid of causing you trouble. You probably don't know, but I have a grudge against your fellow villager surnamed Qin."
Seeing this, Fourth Uncle turned to the man and said, "Chang Sheng, you should go back first. There must be some misunderstanding today."
Qin Changsheng never gave Ning Yuan a second glance, showing no trace of their past acquaintance.
Hearing his fourth uncle's words, he simply nodded slightly and turned to go back to the backyard.
Fourth Uncle slowly refilled his cup of tea.
He said in a hoarse voice, "Although Changsheng has only been with me for half a year, he's always been efficient and decisive, never making a mistake. He's ruthless and quick-witted. I thought you were all from the mainland, so it would be easier to communicate with you, but who knew..."
He paused meaningfully, picked up his teacup and took a sip, "Fine, since you have a misunderstanding, let's just forget about it. I'll arrange other people for you."
Ning Yuan stood motionless, her sharp gaze fixed on her fourth uncle, as if trying to see right through him.
"The conflict between me and your fellow villager isn't a misunderstanding; it's a blood feud. His brother kidnapped me, tried to kill me, and then died at the hands of my man. You really don't know anything about this?"
The air froze again. Fourth Uncle was stunned, his cloudy old eyes fixed on Ning Yuan, as if trying to find some flaw in her face.
After a long pause, he slammed the teacup down heavily on the table, spilling tea and leaving a watermark on the table.
“Girl, your fourth uncle is a businessman who values integrity above all else. He would never do anything dishonest or fraudulent! I have no idea what you’re talking about!”
He paused, then added, "I did receive a request from relatives in the mainland to bring this kid out here."
“I suspect he may have committed a crime, but there are many mainlanders who illegally enter Hong Kong, and quite a few of them commit crimes. It’s impossible for me to investigate everyone’s background thoroughly. The people I can keep to work are all useful people…”
Fourth Uncle's sharp gaze swept over Ning Yuan: "I'm not so stupid as to arrange for two people with a blood feud to work together, don't you think?"
Ning Yuan looked at her fourth uncle for a while and realized that he was probably not lying.
She smiled slightly, her tone softening a bit, "I trust Fourth Uncle. You have a great reputation in the underworld and your word is always your bond. You certainly wouldn't lie to a junior like me."
Uncle Si then showed a satisfied expression and nodded: "This time I misjudged you and owe you a favor. I'm sorry you had to go through that ordeal. Don't worry, I'll arrange for someone else to go to Aberdeen this time. I guarantee they'll all be local Hong Kong government officials, absolutely reliable."
Ning Yuan naturally had no objections. She had already achieved her goal and didn't want to cause any more trouble.
She looked out the window at the gradually darkening sky, and while her fourth uncle was arranging people, she went to the nearby post office to send a telegram to the mainland to inquire about Xiang Ziying's situation.
Then she waited for her fourth uncle to arrange for people to go to Aberdeen. She was always a little worried, and it would be good to take a look from afar.
...
Aberdeen, Hong Kong.
As dusk fell, the typhoon shelter was at its busiest, with diners thronging the area and a constant cacophony of noise.
The air is filled with the fresh aroma of seafood, mixed with the fragrance of chili and garlic, stimulating the taste buds of diners.
"Boss, two pounds of mantis shrimp, steamed with garlic and vermicelli!"
"Alright! Another dozen beers, please!"
"Boss, are your clams fresh?"
"So fresh! Look how lively and energetic it is!"
The bustling atmosphere of the marketplace couldn't mask a hint of restlessness and unease.
Suddenly, a loud bang was heard, and two groups of people started fighting at a stall selling typhoon shelter-style fried clams.
"You fucking dare to ambush me! Brothers, get him!" A burly man with a face full of scars roared viciously, clutching his bleeding arm.
"Charge! Kill them!"
In an instant, shouts, the sound of tables and chairs overturning, and the clash of knives and sticks mingled together, turning the once lively Typhoon Shelter into chaos.
The diners panicked, screaming and scattering in all directions, fearing they would be caught up in the sudden fight.
"Ah!" A man clutched his chest and collapsed to the ground in agony, blood gushing from between his fingers.
"Murder! Murder!"
Amid the chaos, an angry voice stood out: "Search every single fishing boat! That bastard dared to attack our gang leader, damn it, I'll find him, chop him up, and feed him to the fish!"
Clearly, this was not just a simple brawl, but a gangland shootout.
Meanwhile, several dark figures were hidden in a van not far away, each holding a gun and waiting for the chaos to unfold.
