Chapter 709 I want to be a good person for a short time now.

The sea breeze, salty and pungent, mixed with the smell of engine oil, wafted towards me.

Ah Jie, standing to the side, was also extremely excited. Holding a machine gun, he fired a burst at the Hong Kong Island police boat behind him, the bullets hitting the sea and splashing water.

"Brothers, give it your all! Once we reach international waters, we'll be safe! Aunt Shu said the boss there will send a warship to pick us up! We'll be living the high life, and everyone'll get a reward!"

"Charge!" The desperados, stirred up by A-Jie's words, yelled and fired even more frantically.

"Hahaha! Cops, come on! Come and arrest me if you dare!"

The "Lucky Star" began to erratically ram across the sea, trying to escape the pursuit of the police boats.

Cha Shenlou tidied his hair, which had been ruffled by the sea breeze, and regained some of his usual arrogance.

He took a cigarette out of his pocket, lit it slowly, and took a deep drag, as if he could already smell the scent of freedom.

"Damn it, these bunch of trash, they think they can catch me? Don't they know who I am!" Cha Shenlou exhaled a smoke ring.

He glanced sideways at the land receding into the distance, a sinister glint in his eyes.

However, the noise, gunshots, and engine roars kept Chashenlou and Ajie from noticing anything.

Two Flying Tigers helicopters were quietly approaching from the side and rear of the "Lucky Star".

"Target 'Lucky Star' is within firing range!" the helicopter pilot calmly reported.

"Very good, prepare for action! Descend altitude!" Rong Zhaonan's cold, stern voice rang out through the communicator—

"Let me repeat the tactical objective—force the ships to stop, but don't kill Chashenlou; I want him alive!"

"Yes!!" the team members responded in unison, their voices firm and resolute.

Both helicopters opened fire simultaneously, and a hail of bullets rained down on the deck of the "Lucky Star," sending wood chips flying and sparks flying everywhere.

"Ah!" Chaos erupted on the deck of the Fortune Star, with screams and curses echoing everywhere.

"What's going on!" A-Jie roared angrily as he dodged the bullets.

"Brother Jie, something bad has happened! The Flying Tigers are here!" a sharp-eyed henchman suddenly exclaimed, his voice trembling slightly.

"What?!" A-Jie's expression changed, and he quickly looked up, only to see two black helicopters roaring in from a distance.

A helicopter bearing the "Flying Tigers" insignia roared down like a sharp sword from the night sky.

The airflow churned up by the propeller nearly capsized the not-so-large fishing boat.

Ah Jie's expression changed drastically, and he couldn't help but curse, "Damn it, the Flying Tigers have actually deployed helicopters!!"

Cha Shenlou was so frightened that he covered his head and ran into the cabin, cursing under his breath.

"These bastards! Damn it! Didn't we agree no one would stop us?! How did the Flying Tigers show up?! They're all useless! A bunch of useless trash!"

The strafing from the helicopter ceased, and a cold Cantonese warning blared from the aircraft's loudspeaker: "This is the Hong Kong Royal Police! You are surrounded! Stop the ship immediately! Stop the ship immediately!"

Two helicopters hovered in mid-air, with machine gunners on one side of the cabin already aiming at the Fortune Star.

"Stop your mother's head! Charge! Charge out! They want me alive, they won't actually sink our ship!"

Cha Shenlou, hiding in the cabin, roared fiercely but was actually cowardly.

Ah Jie gritted his teeth and shouted at the top of his lungs—

"Don't be afraid, fire! Hold on! All of you, hold on! Fight them to the death! Charge out, another half hour and we'll be in international waters. With the help of warships, shoot down those two Blackbirds from the Flying Tigers, and we'll get a reward!!"

The lure of a hefty reward has drawn courageous men; the desperate criminals, blinded by greed, fired recklessly at the helicopter.

Da da da! Da da da!

Bullets rained down, streaking across the night sky.

The team members on the helicopter were equally fierce, their sniper rifles and submachine guns spitting out angry flames as they rained bullets down on the "Lucky Star".

In an instant, the gunfire was deafening, and flames soared into the sky, making it seem like a real war movie was unfolding on the sea.

"Brother Jie, those fishing boats seem unreliable!" one of the henchmen shouted in a panic, pointing into the distance.

Ah Jie looked in the direction his younger brother was pointing, and his face instantly darkened.

Only a dozen or so fishing boats were being chased around the sea like headless flies by the Hong Kong Marine Police's speedboats. Several of them had already been towed by the Marine Police, and the people on board were being controlled by heavily armed police officers.

"Damn it! These bastards are completely useless!" Ah Jie couldn't help but curse. He had originally hoped that these fishing boats could cover their escape from the encirclement, but now it seemed that he couldn't count on them.

On the Fortune Star, bullets flew and screams filled the air. Several underlings who couldn't dodge in time were riddled with bullets and lay on the deck, their flesh mangled and bloody.

"Brother Jie, what do we do now? There are more and more cops!" Another henchman's voice was trembling with tears.

Although the Fuxing had a lot of firepower, compared with the Flying Tigers' helicopters, it was like throwing an egg against a rock!

But thankfully...

Ah Jie huddled behind the cabin's shelter, panting heavily, still shaken.

He discovered that although the Flying Tigers were overwhelming them with firepower, they did not seem to intend to wipe them out, but rather to prevent them from escaping.

Their primary targets were the ship's propulsion system and the bandits on the deck; they did not engage in concentrated fire on those hiding in the cabins.

Ah Jie spat fiercely, a glint of ferocity flashing in his eyes—

"What are you afraid of! See? Just like Old Man Cha said, the cops don't dare to really sink our ship, they don't dare to take Old Man Cha's life! Notify the first mate, tell him to charge at all costs! Charge out!"

That good-for-nothing Cha Shenlou is actually somewhat useful!

The Fortune Star fled frantically amidst a hail of bullets, crashing headless across the sea like a headless fly.

"Brother Jie, there's something up ahead!" one of the henchmen exclaimed, pointing ahead.

Ah Jie also discovered that although the Customs and Excise Department's anti-smuggling patrol gunboats were gone between the high seas and the Hong Kong government's waters, seven or eight fishing boats appeared!

"Where did this fishing boat come from, coming to join the fun at this time?" Ah Jie muttered to himself, a vague sense of foreboding rising in his heart.

The next second, his premonition came true. He saw the people on the fishing boats immediately mount machine guns and other heavy weapons on their boats as soon as they met.

Before A-Jie could react, the people on the opposite fishing boat opened fire without hesitation!

Rat-a-tat-tat! Rat-a-tat-tat! Dense bullets rained down on the deck of the Fortune Star, sending wood chips flying and sparks flying everywhere.

"Holy crap! What's going on?!" A-Jie was stunned by this sudden turn of events and quickly retreated into the cockpit.

"Brother Jie, it's a member of the 14K!!" a sharp-eyed henchman suddenly exclaimed, "I...I saw Chicken!"

"Chicken?" Upon hearing this name, Ah Jie immediately recalled the scene from tonight—the epic battle between 14K and Hung Hing!

What's this about robbing protection money and territory? A 14K gang leader died, and the murderer escaped into a fishing boat in the typhoon shelter. So we have to board each boat one by one to search for the escaped murderer!

Chicken is the 14K officer in charge of boarding and inspecting ships! He even gave him a 2,000 dollar bribe to prevent Chicken from inspecting his ship!

Now, even the most naive Ah Jie has figured it out—

The cops couldn't easily board the ship to search for people, fearing they might alert the enemy. So, the 14K and Hung Hing members cooperated with the cops by pretending to board the ship to search for people!

"Chicken! You bastard, you dare to trick me?!" Ah Jie, hiding behind the cockpit, fired wildly at Chicken, the spent bullet casings clattering all over the ground.

He cursed angrily, "And I even gave you money before! You gangster, you actually colluded with cops to be their henchmen! You're a fucking traitor!"

The pheasant crouched low, hiding behind the cabin, but its face showed no sign of panic; instead, it revealed a contemptuous sneer.

After A-Jie finished firing, he stood up and fired back towards the Fortune Star, shouting taunts—

"Shut up, you idiot! I, Chicken, am a man of principle and loyalty. Two thousand dollars was to buy me the illusion that I didn't see the marijuana on your boat."

"But you weren't hiding marijuana, you were hiding the guy the cops wanted! You dared to lie to me, I'm already being lenient by not killing you on the spot!"

Pheasant, cigarette dangling from his lips, grinned wickedly: "Besides, what difference does it make who I work for? I'm thinking of being a good guy for a while now; that's called being pragmatic!"
